Sports Super Softs in the game?

After resuming a Suspended B-Spec endurance race. The opponents cars are all suddenly rocking Sports Super Softs? We cant even buy these. What gives?
Does it happen in A-spec too?

What would be the use of these? Tyres w/ the grip of Racing softs, but w/ the rain usability of regular sports?

Probably durability for long stints? Especially in the rain, but they weren't as fast as racing rains, but lasted longer. I imagine you could do a super long stint in a small lightweight car with plenty of grip.

Maybe for realism too. too mimic the real life super sport compounds used for some of todays super cars.

If I had to guess I would say they are DOT's, which are essentially slicks but meet street requirement with 2 grooves in them.
