So I'm back from St Louis. It was pretty cool.
I flew up there Tuesday after work (well, I left work at 2pm but clocked a full day's work ... SUCKERS! :loudmusic ). I was one of the special "chosen" individuals to be searched in detail while everyone else boarded the flight. And I got there early too! The plane was late arriving in my town, and late to leave. Then we got stuck in the air for a little while longer trying to land in St Louis. So I ended up being about an hour and a half late. Doh! I knew something was wrong when I noticed the Sun changing sides of the plane in mid flight. Apparently there was a little bad weather in St Louis.
My friend picked me up and we went straight to his appartment/house where he lives with two other computer geeks. Yeah, there was a lot of computer crap piled around ... and a lot of empty pizza boxes and two liter soda bottles (: Apparently they didn't feel the need to clean up for me. I get no respect! I proceeded to woop him pretty good in a few spot races of GT3.
A pair of our friends from my town were in Chicago the previous week and were meeting me in St Louis on Wednesday. They left Chicago at 2AM(!) so we'd have all of Wednesday to play. They arrived early in the morning - quickly changed to cool weather clothing, and we walked to the zoo.
The St Louis Zoo is pretty cool. It's free admission, and there's quite a bit to do while you're there. If you're ever in St L, swing by the Zoo - it's worth a visit.
That night we went to Fritz's (is that right, Maz?) for home brewed root beer from the tap, and some really good eats. Another stop to make sure you visit while there. After dinner we headed over to the "Ultimate Electronics" store. Imagine Best Buy ... but the quality of products are kicked up a notch ... or two. They have about six private rooms set up like living rooms with all their nice home audio/video equipment in different arangements. They even had a receiver that's priced at $3,800. I think mine was $700 and it included speakers. We were getting followed by salesmen so we decided to jet before we made asses of ourselves.
Thursday we jetted over to Six Flags. WOOHOO! It was a blast. "The Boss" is one of the best wooded rollercoasters I've ever ridden. And "The Ninja" was a right nice tube steel coaster as well. I was walking around the whole time thinking about Rollercoaster Tycoon. I'm going to have to reinstall that game and build another park. Anybody have cheat codes? (: Oh, "Mr Freeze" was amazing. It lasted all of 50 seconds - but was worth the 15 minute wait in line. It's a switch-back "launched start" tube steel coaster that starts in a metal building all decorated like Mr Freeze's lair. Before the train leaves the building it's already doing 35mph. And it peaks at 75+mph during the ride. My friend and I stepped off the ride with quite the headache though. If you're going, be sure to get a $10 off Coke can. That's like paying 65 cents for a ten dollar bill.
That night we had a 28" (yes, two feet four inches) pizza from Pointers. It's the world's largest delivered pizza. Guess what ... they can't make them any larger because they won't fit through doors. Check out the attached picture of the box lid - I brought it home because I knew no one would believe how big it is.
Friday we headed home, but stopped to get the best darn frozen custard I've ever eaten. Allow me to point out that I think frozen custard is pretty nasty, which makes this all that more impressive. I thought it was INCREDIBLE. I practically inhailed a quart of the stuff. Someone from St Louis will have to remind me of the name of the place though ... Tom Somebody I think.
And here I am home again. Somehow we missed the Cardinals ... and the Arch. Oh well, I'll catch that next time I'm there - probably in the Spring. So all you St Louis dwealers be ready (:
