Yes I know that standard cars can't be taken into photo mode but recently bought Volkswagen beetle. Then went to main menu where you can choose arcade mode, GTTV ... And in the background picture was my beetle in the Kyoto's Gion. This made me wonder why is that possible but we can't do it ourselves?

Yea I know it happens to me aswell.

Pd should just let us put standard cars in photomode.

Also there are locations in the main menu that are not in photmode

If we were allowed to take pics standard cars via photo travel, players will notice the low res textures on the standard if they got close to them. Well, we still do even in a race. :grumpy:

Certain standard cars look so bad in the photomode locations i think PD didn't let you take them into photomode because they were embarrased. Don't get me wrong, a lot of standards look fantastic, but a few look like their ported from GT1 or GT2!

This is 100% correct. PD basically outed themselves by denying the ability to take standard cars into photo mode. The must have forgotten we could take photos of them during replays anyway.
In fairness, I've got some nice pictures of standard cars from race replays.

As above, especially the Nomad Diablo ported from GT3.

Looks like they didn't have ANY time to clear up some of the jaggies.

The main menu is not photomode. I think that solves it.

The main menu shows cars in Photomode locations. So the quality of the picture is the same as Photomode itself. If you took a screenshot (using video capture) of a premium car on the main menu, then went to the same location in Photomode and took a photo of the car, the image quality would be exactly the same. So the main menu shows us what Standard cars would look like in photomode!

They still limit how close you can get to the cars in the replay photo mode. You can't get anywhere near as close as you can with the Premium cars in Photo Travel, or anywhere near as close as you can in FM3. In FM3, and I think also in Photo Travel in GT5, you can get close enough to basically lick the surface of your car, but the replay photo mode barely lets you fill the image with the car.

For example, this is the closest it would allow me to take this photo:
Trial%20Mountain%20Circuit.jpg
I can get in closer, but I can't take the picture closer.

I'm just giving the simplest answer. It's the same as the menus for GT5P and it did not have photomode.

go into a practice race and park in various locations. Then you can take a picture of it from the replay.

That is horrific

The wheels are nice and round, though, to be fair :sly:

I think the only thing PD upscaled were the wheels, since they were 2D in GT4. Now there is a problem; the wheels have got more polys than the actual car. Look, no jaggies on the wheels in the Alto pic. :banghead:

I noticed the exact same thing when I happened to have an e-type Jag currently selected. The funny thing was that it looked really good. The sort of picture that I would have liked to be able to take.

Obviously PD know some of the standard cars look very poor and that is the reason they did not allow you to do it. But it is a pitty for the standard cars that look pretty good. Some of them could have looked very good in photomode.

At least you can still get good shots of standard cars in replay mode.

Then Gtplanet traffic will go down by 80%??? Lose advertising revenue...then shut down?? We must complain more about rear view mirrors and wheel emblems to support GT planet!

Btw I just noticed, the clouds in GT5 seemed to be a bit high in altitude for cumulus clouds....I wonder if Kaz will fix this in the next patch.
