Since I did watch the premiere of Atlantis, I think it would be fitting if I give a little review of the episode. Overall, I was really impressed with the new series.
At first, I thought the transition from SG-1's people to the ones on Atlantis would be hard to adjust to, but it really was not at all hard to do. John Shephard plays a role very similar to the role Jack plays, in that I mean he is somewhat of a smart arse and brings some humour to the show. Dr. Wier plays a similar role to that of General Hammond. By this I mean she pretty much runs everything that goes on with the Atlantis program. Through the first episode though, there is yet to be a character like Teal'c. There is one guy though that kind of has a combination of Sam and Daniel going on. He seems to have some of the knowledge of Daniel with some of the technological specialities that Sam possess. There were other characters that played significant/supporting roles, but everyone can watch the show and find out about them.
The biggest question that I had about going into Atlantis is how the story would work. Well after watching the premiere, my questions were answer. The way in which the plot took the viewers answer some of the questions with going into Atlantis, along with leaving the viewer with what will happen in upcoming episodes. So look forward to future episodes.
Atlantis seems like it will be another great series in the world of Stargate to watch. 👍
Oh, I would also like to mention one of my favourite lines from the premiere of Season Eight of SG-1. This is right after Jack awakens from being in stasis. Teal'c is there, along with Daniel and Thor. But in typical Jack fashion, instead of actually learning of what is going on and the problems that are an immediate threat, Jack just has to ask, "Teal'c, what's with the hair?". Thor and Daniel kinda break off a chance for Teal'c to answer and a couple minutes later Jack asks yet again, "Teal'c, what's with the hair?". This was very, very funny.
