Well since there is no thread at all having to do with Stargate SG-1, I thought I would make one, as Stargate SG-1 is a great show.

So basically, this thread is about all thing Stargate related.

To get things started, some questions to answer would be:
1) Do you watch the show?
2) What are some of your general thoughts about the show?
3) Do you own any of the seasons on DVD?
4) Just talk about anything at all related to Stargate and it's spinoffs.

Hopefully someone else at GTP likes Stargate as much as I do. :dopey:

I like Stargate SG1
It's not too far fetched
No
When the hell is Carter gonna hook up with O'Neil?

You know, I don't think anyone knows if Carter is ever going to hook up with Jack. Right now, she has that one cop guy. You happen to remember that guy's name, I forgot it?

Are you watching the From Stargate to Atlantis thing on SciFi right now?

I thought she dumped that guy, or got dumped, when she told him what she did for a living?

Nah I'm not. I can't.

Nope, none of that happened. You remember how he got injured by the Goa'uld lady--I actually think that lady may have been Hathor or Daniel Jackson's assistant, I cannot remember which one, as I have not seen the episode in a while? Well after he was injured, they took him back to the SGC to the infirmary, so that he would not die and could be nursed back to health. Well at that point, Sam told him she would tell him all about the SGC and the Stargate program, so the writers of the story left it open for him to come back and actually on this From Stargate to Atlantis it says that the guy will come back. But they really only said that he will come back.

Have you happened to see some of the previews for Season 8? Well, what I mean is, the fact that Teal'c will finally have hair for once.

I saw that episode.

Teal'c with hair = OMGWTF!!!

So is Inubis actually well....... Dead....... Finally?

Yeah, that episode just kinda leaves it open for him to return to the series. So I do not know what role he will play from here on out. He may just be there to show the more depth to Sam's character. Or maybe make some tension between the ever possibility of Sam and Jack hooking up. I don't know really know though, but I am sure it will probably pan out well.

Teal'c with hair is going to be kinda wierd to see, as we have never had him with hair. I like Michael Shanks--the guy who plays Daniel Jackson--analysis of what he looks like. He said that it is like the stage when a Chia Pet first sprouts whatever the heck they sprout, like basically some kind of fuzz or something.

Well as far as I know, Anubis is finally dead; Jack did destroy all of the Goa'uld ships with the little things that glow. Though, you never know what might happen. Anubis may have yet again somehow escaped death, though this time I really doubt it has happened and he is finally dead for sure.

I love SG-1!

The best sci-fi on TV since Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I haven't seen any of the newer episodes though. Strangely enough Canada doesn't get the new episodes, even though it's made in B.C. :irked:

That seems to be rather odd that Canada does not get the new episodes, even though SG-1 is filmed in Canada. :odd: So you like Star Trek: TNG too? That's cool. I don't know how much of TNG I have seen, though I would say it is a pretty good amount. Firebird, you are definitely missing out by not getting to see some of the newer episodes. Do you get the SciFi channel in Canada? I really am almost to the point that I cannot wait for Season Eight of SG-1 to start, even though it is only until Friday I have to wait; it is going to be so freakin' sweet. Did you happen to get to see the finale of Season Seven? That was an awesome episode and that is all I will say until I know if you have seen it or not.

Nope!

I should probably see season six before I see seven. :D The 'newest' episode I've seen is the season finale of five. Or at least that's about as far back as I can remember.

That was an awesome episode and that is all I will say until I know if you have seen it or not.

I suppose it has to do with Anubis.

I don't really remember much about the guy anyway. Most of my SG-1 watchings were from way back in the day when Apophis was the supreme bad-ass of the universe Goa'uld.

Yeah it has to do with Anubis and it is awesome! Well since I have not seen all the seasons in order at all, I can't really tell you if you should see Season Six or not, but I am sure it would make things more clear for you. Eventually though I will have seen all the seasons in order, as I have the first six seasons on DVD and will buy Seven as soon as it comes out.

I love Stargate SG-1. I'm still a little confused on how the new spinoff will work. Hopefully it will be just as good as the original series.

Did you happen to watch the From Stargate to Atlantis thing on Monday? They kinda explained it, but left a whole lot open to what will happen. It was give a little of what it will be like, and then well you have to watch the show to fully find out kind of things.

That is pretty much the truth. It was like 45 to 50 minutes SG-1 and like 10 to 15 minutes of Atlantis stuff. It really was not a good show to show one series to another.

I'm a huge fan of the original movie and this show. Quite frankly, it's one of the better Scifi shows out there (among the better ones on SciFi if you ask me). I can't wait to see what direction they're taking it with Stargate Atlantis (although it has become slightly unbelievable of late). Good scripting, good acting, good directing, good filming, good lighting, overall a really good show (although sometimes they do mess up on the film editing, it generally doesn't hurt the quality of the show).

For all of you out there that do not already know this, Season Eight of SG-1 premieres tonight at 2000 central time! Everyone should watch it. My anticipation of tonight is making me grow more and more impatient.

Never heard of Stargate: Atlantis.

Stargate SG-1 is tops though.

"In the middle of my backswing?!"

Best episode ever.

Famine, Stargate Atlantis is a new series that will be starting next Friday. In Atlantis, a whole new team is assembled and they will go through the Stargate to the Lost City of Atlantis. Even after watching the From Stargate to Atlantis special on the SciFi channel, a lot about Atlantis is left unknown. Though we do know that there is a new team and that Atlantis is in a whole different galaxy, instead of being situated within our's. And like I said, there is not a whole lot known about Atlantis, only small bits of information. After next Friday though, there should be much more known.

And that is a great episode. What could be more fun that hitting golf balls through the Stargate? Isn't that the episode where time keeps going back in time after a certain amount of time?

I assume then that "The Lost City of Atlantis" is also the much-mentioned "Lost City of the Ancients"?

Yep - that's the episode. O'Neill and Teal'c keep repeating time and do a whole load of Groundhog Day stuff. Including snogging Sam Carter...

"How far is it to P??-???"
"Several billion miles."
"That's gotta be a record."

Hey Terrible, how do you already have some of Season 7, when they have not really released any of it on DVD? I was wondering that earlier when you said something about already owning half of it.

Well that is what is implied, though who knows. As of right now in the series though, they think Atlantis=Lost City of the Ancients.

That episode is one of the best ever and definitely one of my favourites. You know other than the whole thing with time repeating over and over, that would be such a blast to partake in. Imagine all the possibilites!

It was also very, very funny when Jack teaches Daniel about the language his is studying.

Only a couple more minutes until the start of Season Eight!

I know I should not double-post, but sometimes you have to do, what you have to do.

For those of you who did not get to see the premiere of Season Eight, you definitely missed a whole lot. There was the usual humor from the members of SG-1, along with action, drama, suspense, etc. The whole two hours of the show was just awesome! This is a very, very good episode. Hopefully everyone will get a chance to see this episode. 👍 Now I cannot wait until next Friday when Stargate Atlantis premieres and then the week after when the second episode of Season Eight of SG-1 shows. The anticipation of what next will happen in the world of Stargate is going to drive me nuts; not really though, it is just my patience will definitely be tested. What a great time for fans of Stargate. 👍

Oh and BTW, Teal'c now has hair. It is definitely different. :odd:

Bump Bump Bump

Just to let everyone know, Stargate Atlantis premieres tonight at 2000 central time.

well i'll watch out for this new SG: Atlantis if it comes to the UK..
but yeah, I'm also a HUUUGE stargate fan, and that one with Teal'c and Jack looping in time, is probably my favourite. Also one of my favourite parts of SG1 is the humour that Jack puts into the programme, its great!!!

so yeah, another Stargate fan here, of the original film and SG1

Since I did watch the premiere of Atlantis, I think it would be fitting if I give a little review of the episode. Overall, I was really impressed with the new series.

At first, I thought the transition from SG-1's people to the ones on Atlantis would be hard to adjust to, but it really was not at all hard to do. John Shephard plays a role very similar to the role Jack plays, in that I mean he is somewhat of a smart arse and brings some humour to the show. Dr. Wier plays a similar role to that of General Hammond. By this I mean she pretty much runs everything that goes on with the Atlantis program. Through the first episode though, there is yet to be a character like Teal'c. There is one guy though that kind of has a combination of Sam and Daniel going on. He seems to have some of the knowledge of Daniel with some of the technological specialities that Sam possess. There were other characters that played significant/supporting roles, but everyone can watch the show and find out about them.

The biggest question that I had about going into Atlantis is how the story would work. Well after watching the premiere, my questions were answer. The way in which the plot took the viewers answer some of the questions with going into Atlantis, along with leaving the viewer with what will happen in upcoming episodes. So look forward to future episodes.

Atlantis seems like it will be another great series in the world of Stargate to watch. 👍

Oh, I would also like to mention one of my favourite lines from the premiere of Season Eight of SG-1. This is right after Jack awakens from being in stasis. Teal'c is there, along with Daniel and Thor. But in typical Jack fashion, instead of actually learning of what is going on and the problems that are an immediate threat, Jack just has to ask, "Teal'c, what's with the hair?". Thor and Daniel kinda break off a chance for Teal'c to answer and a couple minutes later Jack asks yet again, "Teal'c, what's with the hair?". This was very, very funny.
