Anyone ever compared PC Borderlands to PS3? I see Steam have it for £9.99 but i've a feeling it's cheaper at the PS Store, though that might be with my PS+ membership. And I mean aside from the controls (I don't mind the DS3 for FPS games)

It's a shame you missed the sale, it was £5 for the GOTY edition, but it might come up again before the end. I have both versions and I can tell you that they're identical, it's a direct port. Therefore the menus work better with a controller and the FOV on PC can't be adjusted (there are some really awkward workarounds, though) which leads some people to complain of headaches and motion sickness but if you're a console player you may not even notice, I certainly haven't. However, as you'd expect the actual game plays better with a mouse but really there's not much in it. I'd go with the platform that you have more friends on if I were you because the game is brilliant in co-op.

Oh and one other thing, there's DRM on the PC version which is a bit awkward because when you try to play the DRM it'll appear to crash, but in reality a window has opened behind the game asking you for the serial number for the specific DLC so you have to alt-tab to find that window, enter the key and then it should work. It's awkward but you only have to do it once.

Have you played the demo? I was a little bit obsessed with it, I kept playing it over and over trying to complete it in different ways; no scoping, 100% accuracy, headshots only and all that sort of thing. The full game is exactly like the demo, no exceptionally long shots (longest in the game is about 400m, which is quite far but not as far as in the original) but one thing they didn't include in the demo is the background noise mechanic, which is where an indicator pops up on screen to let you know that the background noise (bombers flying overhead, machinery, explosions) is loud enough that no one will notice you shooting.

If you do go for it and you think you want the (still) overpriced DLC, you might as well spend the extra amount to get Sniper Elite as well, if you can get past the graphics which aren't great the game might actually be a better sniping simulator than SEV2, which is more arcadey. The first game let you alter your movement speed with the mouse, it had a camo indicator (if I remember correctly) and some shots in that game were approaching 1km, maybe even more. I'm sure I've seen a 1km headshot video on Youtube.

Personally I really liked it, but a lot of people really didn't. The AI is really poor but the sniping is great, people say it's not particularly realistic but if you've ever played BF3 or Arma II, it's kind of more realistic than either as you can choose to have the wind interfere with your bullets which neither of those games have. Also there's a co-op mode (which I haven't touched) and a Vs. mode (which I think might be dead but was quite fun, nothing spectacular though).

I played the demo on PS3 and to be honest I'd probably buy it if it was 60 or 75 off. It's still a little expensive right now. It was very fun, but not that much.

I have to concur minus the DLC part. I played the game a lot and didn't buy the DLC until today, when it was reduced to 3.50€.

Coop is pretty cool as well, first played through in SP on hardest difficulty and then again on coop, hardest difficulty as well, when my mate purchased the game.

Do you mean you disagree that the DLC is overpriced? I meant it's overpriced even in the sale, I got the DLC free because I preordered but if I knew what it contained and didn't get it for free, I wouldn't buy it. It's literally just two rifles, neither of which are that great (and I couldn't even work out how to equip them for quite some time), and a mission which is also not spectacular. I can't really complain though as I didn't pay, and it doesn't matter now anyway as that deal is gone.

Today has been thoroughly 'meh' for me, I already have Limbo and GTA IV, I don't have the patience nor intelligence for strategy games so that's Company of Heroes, Stronghold 3 and Wargame out, Spec Ops is probably worth the price but I can't afford it now, Train Simulator... Well, I spend enough time on trains as it is so I'm not interested, I've got the good stuff from the Indie Bundle and I've already been made to feel like an idiot for buying Black Ops once.

Seriously, who are Activision kidding? A year-and-a-half-old obsolete (seeing as MW3 is the same but newer) game for £20, the Full price STILL £40? They must be having a right laugh, particularly since it hasn't really changed in an engine tech sense since MW1 so where's the value? It's not like it was an expensive game to make, it's just a fancy mod.

Anyway, I shouldn't complain, I could do with more days like this!

Well, I wouldn't say it's overpriced but it's not cheap either. However, paying 3.49€ for shooting Hitler isn't much! I just like the game in general, so it's just another level I can play. ;)

Now up in the flash sale: DUNGEON DEFENDERS -> 3€ & SANCTUM -> 2.49€!

That's true enough.

I recommend Sanctum, it goes on sale probably more than any other game on Steam though so if you miss it I wouldn't worry too much. It's a tower defence game mixed with a FPS, so if you like both of those it's great. Four player co-op too.

Well I hope no one in the UK or Europe wanted Take On Helicopters, it went up at 2am, 66% off (£10.87 without DLC, £12.26 with, I got it with because Hinds are awesome), for 6 hours. I suppose some of you might be awake in time to grab it. I'm pretty sure it won't be discounted again at least until the Christmas sale so I thought hey, why not? This does mean I'm approaching my budget limit, I think I have about £8 left.

$4.99 for HL2 is too expensive for you?

Added the Batman bundle to my library this morning while getting ready for work ( ) and bought Just Cause 2 while having dinner

It's not expensive but it probably will get cheaper eventually, the sale goes on until the 23rd after all.

NFS: HP is in the community choice but I'm sure Driver: SF will win, it certainly deserves to from what I've played but I'd (selfishly) still like HP to win. Still, seeing it there means it might be a flash sale or daily deal, either way I'll definitely pick it up for 75% off (£5). After that I might actually be done for this year but you just never know...

It's almost 8 years old. ;)

I think it was the first game on my Steam account. Might've been HL1, I can't remember.

Steam has been unleashed upon the world on September 12 2003 and my account was created not even 24 hours later, just past midnight on September 13 2003. :D

Just picked up NFS: Hot Pursuit for £5 (75% off), still tempted by Wings of Prey but I think I'll wait and see if IL-2 gets cheaper.

Half-life was on promo on the first day of the summer sale if I'm not mistaken. I've played HL2 and both episodes already, for the first one I'll just wait until the day they finally release Black Mesa.

I thought Half Life had already been on offer, but I wasn't sure if it actually had been or if it was one of the choices in a vote.

I just bought Thief: Deadly Shadows and I also caved and bought RealMyst. The former is apparently a very good stealth game so if you're into Metal Gear Solid or played Deus Ex stealthily (this was developed by Ion Storm, by the way) then you might like to take a look. It's only £1.74, so. I chose to not get the pack because I'm skeptical that the first two will work on Windows 7 so I plan to get them if/when GOG have a sale on, if at all (because GOG actively update old games to work with new OSes, Steam doesn't so much).

Also I'm playing the Spec Ops: The Line demo, I'm looking forward to buying it when it's at or under £10!

Nothing for me in todays' daily deals - luckily. About Spec Ops: it's awesome. I bought it from this website and it worked like a charm, 15€. All you need is activate it using a Russian VPN (provided by them) but you can play using your normal IP just fine.

Oh hang on a sec, STALKER is on offer! Think of it like an Eastern European (developed as well as set) version of Fallout 3 but more difficult, more confusing, more janky and, well, pretty good. It also kind of reminds me of Metro 2033 for reasons that will become obvious to anyone who plays it (mutants, mainly). Lots of people love it including me but I got sidetracked and left it alone for too long, so I have to go back and start again but I must admit I'm quite scared of it.

Are you sure? I saw HL2 on the community vote thingy but it didn't win. I've been checking daily and I haven't seen either go on sale yet.

I was thinking about getting the Rockstar pack. It has two games that I want so I thought it would be good to buy. It does have Max Payne 3 which is a plus but I don't know how much I would actually play it.

Bought the wrong Railworks 3 pack so I had to buy it again. Bah.

Can't you exchange stuff on Steam? I don't know about the US but in the EU that's quite common if you made a mistake. Even the company I work at allows people to contact us within 3 days in order to get a full refund.

I know you can't 'return' stuff that doesn't work, but I don't know about stuff bought in error. Steam is notoriously difficult for refunds though, I know that much.

Bought Dungeon Siege 3, kinda wish that I didnt. Initial thoughts are that the game is junk, badly ported console game that has strayed far from its roots. After playing Diablo 3, another action RPG I felt this was just terrible.

I might give it another go and play through, but so disapointed as I loved Dungeon Siege 2.
