Hi All
New to the forum so apologies if this has been covered (many times) before.
I've been a big racing game fan all my life but never actually tried a steering wheel and pedals. Obviously now there are great options out there including racing seats, stands etc.
Just wondered if those that have experience using the top quality wheels and pedals notice enough of a difference to justify getting one. Do you actually set faster times, enjoy the game more etc....
Thanks

Even though i'm using a T150 which is one of the cheapest wheels i can tell u that your lap times will improve but most importantly the immersion & enjoyment you get alone is worth buying one!
Great, thanks for the reply. I just can't seem to hold a steering angle or part throttle with a controller. Inevitably more difficult.

Choice depends obviously also on your budget. T150 as @outofspace mentioned is great. I also started with that wheel but changed to T300 after a couple of months. Reasons for me: more robust, change of wheels possible (especially for you the Ferrari F1 rim ;) ). Iwould also recommend if you go for Thrustmaster the T3PA pedals. Do you want to use clutch/shifter? Then TH8A is fantastic for the extra immersion and complete race experience.

Have fun also with this 'research period'.

Thanks - I assume you also noticed an improvement in pace after getting used to this?

I know, it's difficult to be precise & not make mistakes with a joystick! This is also my first time using a wheel & i can't go back to ds4!
Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.

You need some time to familiarize yourself with the new setup. Sounds reasonable. So may be in the beginning you are even slower? After a couple of hours/days depends on the driver you COULD be faster. It is not said that you will be faster by using other gear. No guarantee from e.g. Logitech/Thrustmaster for that 'feature' ;)

For me personally the main reason was the complete race experience and with a Playseat. T300 etc it is another league of simracing and yes I was faster in comparison with a controller.

Hope that helps to make the right decision for you.

If you're in the UK, check the Currys website as they're doing 30% off all wheels/pedals/playseat right now.
You sir, are a legend.

Thanks, really helpful reply. I will investigate.

Having my wheel for 5 days now and having played every day at least 2-3 hours, i can confirm that you need some time to get accustomed to it. Its also very important how you set the wheel up. You have to make sure its in a stable position and the pedals don't slide aways while using them. Dont underestimate this.
You have to give yourself at least a few days where you should be prepared to be slower and also eventually be frustrated at times.
Don't hop into online races from the start, do races offline with AI, try to drive clean (not fast) first, the speed will come with the time.
When it clicks, you should not want to go back to controller racing whatsoever.

Good advice, thanks. Was thinking of a PlaySeat too. Go all out, why not...

Be a bit more patient :) unless you have unlimited means lol
I would not buy all stuff at once. Just purchase wheel & pedals and try to find a temporary solution for using them in a way that you can experience how it feels like. If you decide then that its for you, then you can also buy a playseat.
I personally got me a WheelStandPro and its just superb, and 60% cheaper than a seat.

Ok cool, I'll see what they are like. Thanks again for the advice.

I wanted to say that should be the main reason why you buy it
i can't go back to play on a controller that's for sure
it's faster too

Cool thanks. All positive feedback, made my decision! :)

Will do, thanks

The 1st one of those linked threads should be standard reading for anyone moving to a wheel from a pad.

As well as being a really top guy, Maz (Synwraith) could really put his thoughts in to words.

I would expect there are a few others like me who miss having him on the forum.

monitor? you'd want to play GTS on a big ass OLED 4k screen - mr "all out" :D
Lol, ok will see if doable. Was hoping to incorporate other gaming too on the one screen (COD, FIFA with less lag). 4k screen would be better tho haha

Have read through some of this and did make very good reading. Appreciate there will be a learning curve but willing to persevere.

t300rs or t300rs gt version? May be this (Black) Friday a reseller who offers a RSGT version(with the t3pa pedals in the bundle) for the price of a rs version?

Well done big spender. And then late the long waiting for delivery begin ;)

I don't particularly want the third pedal so standard rs will do for me. Amazon prime will hopefully sort me out.

The two pedals on the T300 RS is not very good at all and that the T3PA pedal set that comes with the T300 RS GT is far superior. You could even go all out and get the T300RS (discard the pedals) and T3PA-PRO if you want one of the best pedal sets around. I was considering this option until the T-GT came out lol
