Steering Wheel VS Controller
who use's what? I use the controller.
But witch one is better yes im a noob  But i drift in real life too and i noticed that this dam game kinda helps me out in real life. It helps cues i kinda know what the cars playback is feeding me.

What do you guy's like the best? 👍 👎 Steering Wheel or Controller

wow people are right the new people in this forum always make useless threads i mean i havent been here long but sheez i seen this same question over and over agian its like anonying now

hey the forum is kinda dyeing know and since there's been more people joining ..... i would think that they want fresh opinions....and not have to search through, all the past threads.....

i have a controller and it works okie....but personally i like using the wheel b/c it more control.....in counter steer , and basic steering doesn't look all sloppy

I use the controller, but I would want to use the steering wheel. IF you know vehicle dynamics as well as you do, there shouldn't be a problem in drifting in real life.

I've drifted my Impreza Wagon around corners and at a drift pad. You just have to know what you're doing. Left right and lift off throttle. Turn and lift off throttle and stab brakes to lock rears to induce more oversteer. I don't have the power to keep my slide or say Four-Wheel-Drifts going because I only have the 2.2L NA motor. IF I had the JDM STi or say a WRX swap with a few mods say injectors, turbo upgrade, whole exhaust system, then I'd be able to keep her going.

Oh well, anyway.....I wann try the steering wheel because I perfer the percision it gives (although I haven't tried it yet).

I have both (DS2 and a GTforce Pro wheel) and use the DS2 for 90% of my GT3 time, be it racing or drifting. When I started GT3 years ago I used a DS2 then quickly bought a GT force wheel then a GT force pro wheel, so of the 3 years I've played GT3 I have spent a a solid 2 years of that playing only with a wheel.

That being said in the past 4 months I have switched back to the DS2 almost exclusively. I find the DS2 gives me better "feel" for the car and what it is doing, plus specific to drifting, it is much easier for me to get the car to break loose. With the wheel I never had the "feel" for the car that I have with the DS2. Sure it made the game more realistic but I've always had quality issues with both wheels (the actual wheel with the GTforce and the pedals with the GTforcePro). Also unless you have a solid place to mount the wheel you end up chasing the wheel more than anything. If I had a race seat for it I may use the wheel more but in general the DS2 works and works well, I have never had a quality issue with it in the 4 or 5 years I've owned a PS2...

for learning to drift though I would think the DS2 makes it a bit easier to get the feel for breaking loose and throttle control, once you have that going to the wheel would be ok.

does search button count?
Since NK4E already noted it, I'm calling BS on the "Drifting in real life" portion. If you can manage to post a note, I want to see an image of the car you drift. In particular, with a handwritten sign saying "GTPlanet.net"

You can drift all you want with a controller, but you'll never get as good as anyone that does it with a wheel. Precise control is everything in Drifting, and without it, you're simply throwing yourself out of control and recovering.
