Still Playing?

overall, I am happy with the game, I just wish they'd give you the option to save in enduro races and between races in championships (specifically the FGT one)

If they did that, I would'nt even miss the undelivered seasonals so much.

Until they do though, the game is certainly, albeit slowly - dying for me. I'm finding myself playing it less and less.

I still enjoy it, and when I'm bored with GT5 I go play another game like F1 2010 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but then I miss GT5 and some cars so I just create my own interests; like last week it was Super GT, some other week Jaguar's or Lexus'es and I go crazy about them (each car is GT5 is interesting and has it's history, thanks to car description)... this keeps me occupied for another week...

I still love the game and I had it on the release day... 👍 Still gonna play lot more... I even started a new account - got that to A-spec 28... wanna get it to 30+ so I can do the Vettel Challenges again (these were best thing in the game - so fun and challenging)!!! :dopey:

I tend to change my avatar based on the thing I find interesting this week... :) So this week it's Jaguar...

It's people like you that PD likes, because anything they do, good or bad will please you because it's "FREE CONTENT".

My standards are high, yours aren't I suppose, but it's ok, I accept you like you are.

It´s people like him PD likes, because he isn´t talking nonsense and annoys other with his bashing posts.

It´s not that you don´t like GT, you hate it and try to sumit that in it´s agressive meaning.

Lastly: the only make that EA will always keep over PD is Porsche but now, it looks like Ferrari will be anything but EA, so its 1 for 1 it seems.

is that suppose to say PD? cuz it doesn't make sense atm...

Maybe because we're in a forum dedicated to the game, where the majority enjoys playing it. Ever thought of that?

So the simple fact the forum is somewhat dedicated to the game (it does have forums for other games, sports, even politics, but whatever) means that only people who love the game should post and those who have any complaints should just "shut up and go away"?

Sorry, didn't see that putting rose colored Kaz blinders on and never discussing anything negative about the game was a requirement for this forum. Can you point that part out to me? Oh wait, you can't, then maybe it's you who needs to do some thinking.

After completing every A-Spec event(there's hardly any!) except endurance races(maybe I'll do an endurance race one weekend), I play mainly in arcade mode now.

You don´t understand, how this kind of forum works. It is a forum mainly dedicated to one game. It didn´t say, that critics or resentment are not allowed.

But where is the intelligence of an hater to go into a dedicated forum to bash against the game? It is like being Metallica-fan and go to a Backstreet Boys-concert to bash against them. It has nothing to do with blinders or rose colored. Here are enough critics in this forum, but enough of them are productive and not meaningless.

Exactly. 👍

Thing is, the only free stuff we got in GT5 so far is just getting this game closer to what we should have received at release.

Now, if we got free premium cars, or new tracks....then we could compare GT5's free DLC to EA's pricey DLC.

There is something inherently absurd about this "I should be able to get every car in the game" sentiment I see posted on these boards.

When you bought this game, you bought a game. You didn't buy a collection of cars. You bought a game. When Polyphony digital made this game, they intended for people to progress from cheaper cars to more expensive sports cars to race cars and so forth over the course of more than a few days of playtime. Yes, it is an arbitrary decision; all games are designed on a few arbitrary decisions made on the hope that players will find them fun. If these abritrary decisions were not made beforehand, it would become impossible to make a consistent game. The reason Gran Turismo doesn't give you everything from the start is because it is intended to make you feel like you are starting from nothing but your cheap Civic or whatever and racing your way up to company-sponsored high-powered touring car racing and beyond (admittedly, it is executed very poorly in this particular iteration of the series, but that is not the point here). It looks like you don't agree with this philosophy. That's fine. But PD can't anticipate the mindset and lifestyle of every single person who buys their game and they shouldn't be expected to.

Yes, not everybody has the time required to buy every 10,000,000+ Cr. car in this game. But this becomes a question of do they really deserve to? Not even those who play very often are intended to have all of these cars, and if they played without external assistance, they most likely would not have access to them right now. Sorry, but if you haven't the time to play a game, then you shouldn't expect to get every single thing you can possibly get out of it. Knowing this, why did you invest in a hobby that you have no time for?

For being one of the guys who got the game at release date, I´ve taken a long time to get to level 30. I just need 100,000 XP and I´ll be driving the X2010. So NO! I´m not bored of playing GT5. As a matter of fact, I´m as excited as I´ll ever be.
Let me quote this gentleman over here so you can understand my point of view:

charliec
B) Not everyone misses the point of the game.

👍 Me included.

As soon as Shift 2 comes out, I'm jumping ship. And don't answer the fan boys here, they'll say "bye bye", "more server space for me" or "Kaz is my girlfriend and everything he does is EPIC".

You're on a GT5 board, there's going to be smart people that will reply and fan boys with geek words like EPIC, LEET or whatever the words are.

If this doesn't get you pump up, then you're a pure fan boy.

March 29th 2011

Oh yeah, you can have my server space and your "2005" game, I'm in 2011.

I really hope you don´t hit yourself in a brick wall. Remember it is a NFS game. I can 110% assure you that as soon as you pop the disc in your PS3, glitches, inconsistencies, errors, flaws, and what not, will start popping as you play.

I´m, a car fanboy before a GT fanboy, so I will be getting Shift 2, and playing it until my eyes bleed. But as me, you should be expecting the worst out of this game so you can trully enjoy it. Sure it will be fun, but I give it a few weeks of fun gameplay, and the rest it will only be for the compromise of finishing it. Then, I bet you´ll be running back to "half-baked, boring ol´GT5."

EDIT: SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST

Unfortunately not playing anymore. Bought the GT3RSV2 CS Edition only for GT5 but there is nothing to do in that game... Online is boring, A-Spec is an joke, so are the seasonal events... And without online leaderboards the game makes no sense...

And those seasonal event time trials are also an joke. I know nothing about car setups and without knowledge you lost... Also that tuning... Maybe some people know wich parts brings better laptimes, even though you got the same hp...

In fact, I had more fun and challenging AI races with FM3... With an free A-Spec mode it´s totaly BS... How would it be in real life if Michael Schumacher can choose an 1000HP F1 car and kick everybodys ass... Really that A-Spec is the most stupid thing I´ve seen for years now...

That is what I call cheating and not the car duping...

Even though you can make your own challenges by selecting an slow car, it takes 20 restarts to find the perfect car for only one single event... I have no 4 hrs. to check all cars to find an nice challenging car for an event, only to race 10 minutes...

Thx for the two thumbs up on page 2 :D 👍

In fact, GT5 is the Nordschleife king and will be for an long time! But they focused 5 years on 200 premium cars and forgot the rest of the game...

I'm still playing it.

Just need to first up the rest of the special events (AMG Academy, GT Rally, and Sebastien Loeb rally). And the last event in extreme events (FGT Championship for both A and B-spec). Oh yeah... and the rest of the endurance races... :scared:

man that shift 2 trailer was wicked If SHIFT 2 HAS WAY BETTER PYHSICS THAN GT5 ITS A WRAP FOR THAT WHOLE 5 YEARS OF DEVELPING DOWN THE DRAIN

If Shift 2 is made for the general player, as GT5 and FM3 is, then it will have arcade/sim physics as all the other public games... GT5 has very nice physics, not too extreme like GTR2 but not too easy as other racing games...

Why should they (PD,T10,EA) make an game for 100.000 SIM-fans if they can make an arcade/sim game and sell millions...

Look at the GTR2 sale stats, it selled so bad...

But that is not the problem of GT5, the problem is that this game is an 50% done game, they give you the cars and the tracks but the rest is missing...

The special events, that is how an game must be!

I really like the game, I don't play it everyday because as the topic starter typed I do have commitments. Which is why his attitude seems to be a little (more than little) skewed, family and or work life is compulsory, gaming isn't.
You really come off as a angry teenager not an adult, they remove/modify something from their game and suddenly the whole game is spoiled? Suddenly all the things that make the game good are forgotten? How mature, where do you work? With your lack of perception and patience I just hope it's something with little to no responsibility.

Its hard to take your comments seriously when you accuse people of having low standards, when clearly yours are even LOWER. Need for Speed? Are you serious? Shift had 50 cars right?

Shift 2 is making alot of promises, but so did GT5. I can almost guarantee that Shift 2 will be a huge let down.

So get off your high horse, you pathetic NFS fanboy. Acting like your opinion is fact.

I think the very first seasonal event got it perfectly right, they did their job as game designers and gave as the exact level of dificulty. Now, they expect us to do *their* job in every new seasonal event... I just go there to get some credits and xp now, no real challenge.

If I am understanding this right, those of you who have less time to play think the game should automatically be made easy-mode for you. Very odd logic.

I have gone back to F1 2010 and I am absolutely loving it. I still throw GT5 in every now and then to do a few laps of the Nordschleife but until they fix the AI and add a few real world tracks, there's not a lot left for me.

It's a shame because GT5 could have been so great, but there are some good games coming out this year so I'm not too worried it

I've been playing it very intensively for three months straight. This weekend, for the first time, I got the feeling that I've seen all there is to see in the game.

I've done every A-spec race a dozen times at least, including most of the endurances. I can't count how often I've done the Grand Valley 300, not to mention Like The Wind:Indy, Dream Car and Japanese Championship...

I've tuned enough. The difference between a Supra and an RX7 does not excite me enough to keep me entertained for weeks. I've collected the nicest cars (and actually drove them all to find my favorites for the various championships and enduros that I've grinded).

It was a good romp. Disappointingly shortlived, but very good nonetheless.

Last night I went back to GT4 and started a new career. That's going to keep me busy a lot longer than GT5 I'm afraid.

I hope GT6 won't take too long to make. Duke Nukem Forever took only twice as long to get to market than GT5... let's not make GT the new Duke Nukem franchise! :)

EDIT: That Need for Speed trailer looks freaking epic! Let's hope their car list is good and not too much JP/US biased.

That sums it right there. B-Spec is at 37 and A-Spec is at 33... the sheer amount of grinding needed to progress is simply stupid. The PS3 is an entertainment platform, others in the house want to watch Netflix, Blu-Rays and play games - the need to tie the PS3 up for multiple back to back 24 hour enduros is pretty stupid. I have only been doing B-Spec for a few weeks now and figured 3 24 hour LeMans was enough - really.

I have even packed away the T500RS pedals and have the Fanatec CSPs hooked to the PC along with the T500 and Act-Labs shifter.

To think I bought the T500RS to enhance my GT5 game play and now Gt5 has turned into as chore and a bore- I can't even gift decent race cars to the second and third games on the PS3, so there is no chance of jump starting those game careers anymore.

PD tooka good franchise with a captive audience of money flush adults ready to spend lots of money on their game and they blew it.

Instead of polishing up GT3 and GT4 and adding improvements, they tried to "make it up on the fly' and it shows.

I am already seeing many traded GT5 discs at local retailers - the writing is on the wall for the GT franchise sadly - maybe it is true for all racing franchises.

For me, this is the last GT game I buy. I don't have all day to play this game like some people, and with the new update they messed it up more...I would hope most of us have real lives and jobs and even kids and what not.
Who are they to say how I play the game in single player mode... duping is cheating duping is not cheating, really? Takes over 5 years to make and this is what we get? Oh, and I just ordered a wheel for it too. Return that and selling the game, nice knowing you PD. This franchise is doomed, There wont be another game until PS4.. and it's still gonna be crap...

Is anyone else done with this game too?..

This really doesn't make you sound like the mature adult you so badly want to, it just makes you sound like a pissy little teen who can't get things his way...

I play when i can, and when i play, i just race with friends, for lap times online, and i just free race in timetrial, trying to set lap times on different tracks to see how each car compares....also i have a 3D tv, so i can watch the beauty of the premium cars in 3D! Take that shift 2 and forza!
