Unfortunately not playing anymore. Bought the GT3RSV2 CS Edition only for GT5 but there is nothing to do in that game... Online is boring, A-Spec is an joke, so are the seasonal events... And without online leaderboards the game makes no sense...

And those seasonal event time trials are also an joke. I know nothing about car setups and without knowledge you lost... Also that tuning... Maybe some people know wich parts brings better laptimes, even though you got the same hp...

In fact, I had more fun and challenging AI races with FM3... With an free A-Spec mode it´s totaly BS... How would it be in real life if Michael Schumacher can choose an 1000HP F1 car and kick everybodys ass... Really that A-Spec is the most stupid thing I´ve seen for years now...

That is what I call cheating and not the car duping...

Even though you can make your own challenges by selecting an slow car, it takes 20 restarts to find the perfect car for only one single event... I have no 4 hrs. to check all cars to find an nice challenging car for an event, only to race 10 minutes...

Amen. This is exactly how I feel. 👍

As soon as Shift 2 comes out, I'm jumping ship. And don't answer the fan boys here, they'll say "bye bye", "more server space for me" or "Kaz is my girlfriend and everything he does is EPIC".

You're on a GT5 board, there's going to be smart people that will reply and fan boys with geek words like EPIC, LEET or whatever the words are.

If this doesn't get you pump up, then you're a pure fan boy.

Oh yeah, you can have my server space and your "2005" game, I'm in 2011.

They are the same guys who made GTR Evolution for PC.....I'm rooting for them to make this a simulator way better than GT5

I actually just started GT5 over again with a new PSN. I also just recently signed up for iRacing. Between the two of them, my limited gaming time is full. I was truly bored with my original GT5 game save, had most every car I wanted, completed a-spec and b-spec races many, many times and was tired of grinding just to buy more cars. It became frustrating and extremely boring to me.

This time through with GT5 I'm taking a different attitude. I'm taking my time, buying cars I didn't really pay attention to the first time and enjoying the driving instead of feeling obsessed with buying all the best cars, completing every race and getting to 20,000,000 as fast as I can. I'm really taking it easy and actually enjoying myself a lot more. Some of the cars that I ignored in my first go round are actually pretty fun to drive. I don't care if I buy every car in the game or if I even get to 20,000,000 credits this time through. I've done it already so I know I can.

Yes there are problems because certain features have been overlooked, but I'm not concentrating on that this time. I already discovered all of the flaws and know what to expect (and not expect) from the game. I'm just trying to enjoy it for what it is. I paid good money for this game and I don't want to shelf it after just 3 months.

When Shift 2 comes out, I'll give that a go and if it's as good as all the hype surrounding it, then GT5 will go on hiatus.

I would start another profile of GT4 (my personal favorite of the GT series), but the graphics are just too "icky" looking on my high def tv. Yes, I know... I've been spoiled by the PS3 and XBox 360! :)

For me, this is the last GT game I buy. I don't have all day to play this game like some people, and with the new update they messed it up more...I would hope most of us have real lives and jobs and even kids and what not.
Who are they to say how I play the game in single player mode... duping is cheating duping is not cheating, really? Takes over 5 years to make and this is what we get? Oh, and I just ordered a wheel for it too. Return that and selling the game, nice knowing you PD. This franchise is doomed, There wont be another game until PS4.. and it's still gonna be crap...

Is anyone else done with this game too?..
If you have any cars or rare paints, send them to me before you sell the game. Cheers. 👍

A video doesn't prove anything.

Perhaps, you are the EA fanboy?

Ironically, you bought a game that has 1000 cars... oh, sorry, about 550 different ones.

A game with car damage, oh sorry, scratches.

A game that has a great community where you can gift any car, oh yeah, that was in 2010, you can't trade anything over 1 000 000$.

A game with Nascar and Kart racing ! Oh, wait, Nascar "school" and "Kart" school whatever.

You only say videos and read things about but you still bought it, right ?

I'm no EA fan boy, I just like FUN games. Rest assured that EA won't remove features that will be in the game in updates.

why do you say online sucks? i've had mostly great experiences racing online. it's really giving me something new to do. there's always someone online and most people i've run into have been clean racers and have been real fun challenges. i can easily lose hours of my day to online battles

These are the guys who made Shift 1. *cough*
It won't even feature pit-stops.

Anyway, of course I'm still playing GT5, I love it, never had so much fun driving virtual cars, the physics combined with the graphics are just too good. If only the sound would be just as good...

Like 30 FPS, NOS, vinyl, and arcade-like physics?

Like I said, each has their own strengths and neither is a replacement for the other. You clearly sound like you wanted a NFS experience. If that's the case, you should have never bought GT5.

Dude, I might be considered a fanboy, and a hardcore player (almost platinum trophy holder, almost there), but I'm not blind.

This game promises a lot, let's wait and try it. Right now, I'm really excited about it.

With tears from my heart, Gran Turismo might be lowered to a regular status game around, not the top thing anymore. Even with its amazing physics... but that is just not enough to break away from the pack anymore :(

And the saddest thing is that both PD and Yamauchi the idiot could have done something 20 times better easily, with their knowledge, their budget, etc., guess they are nothing anymore... They'd rather waste their resources in the X2010 a contraption at best, mimesis, Lang Lang playing the piano, Kaz the idiot driving around, and other surreal stuff...

Actually I've owned previous GT games so my decision was based on that. I have NFS Shift and it is a POS.

650 PP 10 lap, tyre restricted races on trial mountain and deep forest are all im doing at the moment, and im absolutley loving it. I had one of my most memorable experiences the other night toe to toe with a polish driver in a Nissan GTR Advan race car, and i was in a GTR v spec, swapping places all til the last lap, the last corner neck and neck i took the inside line he had no choice but to take it wide, i won by less than half a second. Never smiled as much in my life when returning to the lounge, and the fact that people commented saying that was an epic race to watch just makes GT5 Online what it is. Sure it has its flaws, but when you're in the right company, feck me its epic.

edit

So my point being, as long as stuff like this is happening, I'll never get tired of GT games.

Truth. And the frustrating thing is: the changes that would have made GT5 a superb game are so small it's almost laughable. They were so close, yet missed the mark just enough to end up with a game that's merely good, shortlived and not setting any benchmarks.

Dammit PD, it could have been EPIC, if you wouldn't have been too stubborn to look at the great aspects of GT3 and GT4 and just build on top of that!

2hrs 10 minutes into my 1st 24h race on GT5 (done 7 of them on GT4) at Le Sarthe, loving it, can't wait for the night racing to come. Did Tsukuba 9hr race yesterday/today aswell. So yes still lovin it, still playing even if my hands are very sore and i'm very tired.

@ the OP, sounds more like you are just pissed @ PD for screwing up your trading schedules than any 'real-life' stuff getting in the way, bye bye and shut the door on the way out, it's cold today. :)

This whole "they removed my duping!" debate is almost identical to the Call of Duty debate when Black Ops Released.

All the cheap tactices like drop-shotting were made harder to do, so all the cheap players complained and left the franchise.

And guess what. It's now much better without them ;)

Anyway, I've just got back into GT5 after abandoning it for Forza 3. Big mistake and now I'm back.

Why does everyone feel the need to tell us there sob story? We don't care. This is my favorite GT and I will continue to play. Should I make a thread announcing that?

For me, I'm still plodding through GT5, enjoying myself, the experience of controlling how different cars handle is a great factor of the game for me, right now, I am working my way through the endurance races (and yes, I will be doing the 24Hour races) And before you ask, no I'm not 15, I am in my 20's, and unfortunately out of work right now. I have a girlfriend that I live with, and I have a car that I love to work on, and take out for a blast down back roads now and then, so I have plenty of other things to do in life, but I always find an hour here and there to enjoy myself on GT5. I have to say, the game in general is a masterpiece. Yeah, it needs tweeks here and there, but I can guarantee you this, there is NO game that is 100% perfect. There is always going to be somebody moaning about some part of any game on the market... which leads me to Shift 2..... I guarantee that within a week, there will be people complaining about some part of it.....

GT is a game, if you have the time to do a race or 2, or even learn that track that has always caught you out, then fine, go do that, otherwise, stop moaning, and go suck up to EA. I don't think you will get near as much love, and attention from them

Yup. Sometimes it is necessary to repeat myself.
But thanks for telling me anyway.

I know what you mean, I mean look- you changed the opinion of everyone!!

Appreciate the repetition though, I feel like I'm learning my times-tables again.

There's been cars with vinyls in all GT games, there was nitrous oxyde in GT4 (NOS is a brand by the way) and physics ? they're good but does that make a game fun to play ? No. In Shift, they aren't so bad but honestly, I don't give a crap. Shift was their 1st try at simulation and they listen to people, not like Kaz who does whatever HE feels is fun.

150+ cars that can be customized like we want, tons of career events, autolog and more ? Geez, keep your sunday drive game, I want something fast, so get out the way granny, this is 2011, not 2005.

Make's me LOL all the time.

"Buhuhu, buhuhuhu, stupid PD, buhuhuhuh, stupid game, buhhuhhuhhuhuhuhuu, stupid fanboys, buuhuhuuhuuuu, I'm never going to play this game again, buhuhhuhuhuuu. And now I'm going to tell it to everyone on the forum. That will teach them. Buhuhuhuhu."

Always knew that gaming is emotion, but it seems that this game drives people to complete nervous breakdowns. Makes me wonder when we're going to read the news about the first gamer that beats himself to death with a pedal set, because patch 1.09 wasn't what he expected of it.

No, my point is that people cry because they can't vinyl their cars in Gran Turismo. Yes , race cars have vinyl livery, sponsorship info, etc. I don't care to do it to look like a street racer. This is the kind of NFS mentality I DON'T want in the game. "Oh snap, 21" rims on my Civic!? Tight yo!". Those people also have no idea what unsprung weight or rotational mass is. They're people that have no experience with cars IRL, no appreciation for engineering or racing IRL, and no understanding of the purpose of Gran Turismo in the first place.

Yes, I realize NOS is a brand. So is Kleenex and Xerox. People still use them interchangeably and everyone understands what they mean.

And yes, physics is important to some people. That's the thing though, NFS is fun where GT5 can be frustrating, but it can be realism that causes that, and that realism can make it a much more rewarding experience. I like both. But, they're different.

Wow I can't believe a small little update will drive people away from playing a game. That is just absurd. You obviously never enjoyed this game in the first place.

There are flaws, and mostly due to delay and over-hyped. But I still enjoy it from time to time. Especially the Ferrari Formula Challenge, even the AI is kinda of dumb.

Bye OP. PD won't miss you.
