I was doing a single race in a Monaco rally stage and I spinned, the engine went off and the car facing the wrong direction... as I never had the engine off before I took a while to put it in neutral and start the engine... and my co-pilot says... «Yes I see... so you are giving them a head start... How kind of you...» I found it very funny... never heard that before...:dopey:

Sometimes that co-driver needs to just stay on the course directions. My own example: 90's cars, Driving an Escort. Barral rolled it into a tree on Norway causing my car to be totaled. Co-pilot says, " I think you messed up there." :grumpy:

It's sometimes funny though. :dopey:

Yeah. 'Woah, I shouldn't have eaten so much before the race' is one of them.

I wiped out on a time trial during one of the Finnish stages, ended up deep amongst the trees and sat there for a while laughing to myself, at which point the co-driver dryly observes: 'Umm, I'm sure we should be moving'

I think my favourite mishaps though are the barrel rolls that land me back on my wheels, on the road and still rolling. I even have a string of photo stills of one such incident under that damn bridge in Norway. I'll post them up later :)

On the snow RallyX and Land Rush track (can't think of the name), a buggy rolled and I drove right through him. Wasn't quite as exciting as I hoped. So I flashed back and decided to do the right and more realistic thing: Hit the e-brake and try to slide around him, only my left rear hit and and sent him rolling even more and into a wall. Then I for hit and spun.

Oh I've got another.

Me and this guy were really going at it and he got past me, but the next turn was coming up and it allowed for fairly little turning. So I'm on the inside, thinking he will go wide like I will, but he doesn't. Instead he turns Sharp and I try to quickly do the same, but I hit him and we both go into a drift, but we also both save our cars. A few laps later, I had passed him and has a good lead. All of a sudden, I go into a seemingly simple turn, bit I screw up and lose control. This allows the guy I'm second to gain time, and just as he comes closer I gas it to get out of his way, but he wasn't expecting that. He then t-bones me and our team mate driver between the two of us. But we catch up to him and have a 3 way battle. Eventually me and my friend, the one who passed me and the other guy who accidentally t-boned me, are battling for second. We bump into each other and it slows him down more. So it ends like this. The guy who t-boned me wins, I get second, and my friend gets third. It was the greatest race I've done.

I was doing an outbreak jam session and a guy started chasing me up the stairs, around the container area, and into the center building. I went towards the pipe-corkscrew thing and turned away from the entrance at the last minute. The infected guy chasing me went through the pipe and I jumped up onto one of the second-floor paths and drove away.

But i've only been able to do it once :C

I'm beginning to really dislike playing online. I don't know if it's just me but it feels like the cars are more prone to flipping and bouncing from bumps when I play online rather than offline. Maybe it's an issue with lag or something, or maybe lag just kills my sense of speed that I'm going a lot faster than I feel I'm going...

From my experience lag does sometimes mess up sense of speed... but usually its just me being dumb when i flip/bounce :guilty:

And Group B/80s~earlier seem to be prone to flips/bumps more than others (especially the Metro MG something). Even in singleplayer, i've seen a multitude of hiccups over jumps/bumps in the road. I won a rallycross once in LA when the metro car hit the edge of a landing and did a triple barrel roll and i drove right by just before the finish

I was driving an Impreza N12 that day, and wow was the car floating! It felt like I had no grip on the road, in fact it was like someone was suspending the car and the tires were barely skimming the surface. I just kept sliding and bouncing over the little bump ever!

That was one terrible experience.

The old mini coopers in outbreak make me TT

I was in a fiesta, there were 2 guys in the fat subarus that had just joined, and 5 guys in the minis, and they kept abusing the Teeny-tiny spaces that only they could get to... Wasn't very fun when only 3 guys are moving TT'

On the shibuya rallycross track tge long one thats closest to the one in dirt2 on the last turn a focus popped his rear left tire swerves one way countersteers and come my direction I t-boned him but instead of really t-boming him I kind of scooped him up over the top of my focus flipping on his side and him spinning out leaving me unharmed and continue on at speed lol

Man I love this game, I'm suprised this forum isn't more active. I guess people are too ignorant and can't look past the arcadey stereotype the dirt series has.

Every time I play an online session its awesome. And the damage system is great, when mechanical damage is on even the slightest contact can shread your tyre, it slowly goes down without you knowing and then It will burst.

This game puts GT5 and any other racing game to shame in so many aspects. I feel sorry for those who dismiss it before giving it a chance.

After playing gt5 I went back to dirt 3 and the engine sounds oh my lord the engine sounds are a bazillion times better.

Ways GT5 is better
1. Has circuit racing
2. More cars
3. Better graphics
4. More content
5. An active online community
6. Nurburgring!
7. Better physics

Ok, I have both. I played DiRT 3 for a few months. But it really screwed up my GT5 driving habits and skill so I stopped. I don't care if it sounds better and has a better damage model. I would like to take almost any car I wish out onto a track just to drive about. Which, you can't do in DiRT 3. I did indeed dismiss this game.
Reasons
1. Arcadey
2. Inactive online
3. Less rally, more gymkhana (I hate flipping hate gymkhana, it was cool before drifting for show came about)
4. No Nurburgring
5. No Nurburgring
6. Flipping expensive content, it's like buying another DiRT 3
7. No Nurburgring

You get what I'm saying? It lasted. About 4 months. Now everyone is back to GT5. Or no car game at all. I think GT5 puts DiRT 3 to shame. So does Forza. Heck, even a :censored:ing Need For Speed game puts it to shame.

At times this is true, but it is less consistent that DIRT 3. No standard/premium and I have seen no bad textures on DIRT 3 where I can't say the same for GT5.

But the games aren't really comparable aand this is off topic.

GT5 is not a simulator. And as far as rally goes, Dirt 3 is much more realistic than GT5. Rallying in GT5 feels like driving on ice its ridiculous.

Inactive online? Theres always people playing when I go on. And I can actually spend hours playing others online in competitive and fair races. On GT5 9/10 times the racing is absolutely crap.

I love GT5 don't get me wrong, but it's an offline game for me. Which sometimes gets boring as I love to compete with others which is where Dirt 3 wins.

And Dirt 3 has better graphics in the environment department. No doubt.

Like I said, I feel sorry for those who dismiss it.......

Sorry, but you can't criticise the game for not including the Nurburgring considering that a) the Nurburgring is not a rally stage, and b) DIRT 3 is not directly competing against GT5.

Not a racing story per se. But I went over to a friend's house who's got DiRT3 on the 360 and he was pissed off that you need a VIP pass to get online. I asked him if his game was pre-owned - a pretty normal question because the old owner will have used the VIP code. "Nope, it's a new game."
I had a look through the manual thinking, 'How greedy can Codemasters get?' and then I saw the last page of the manual... 'Here is your VIP pass for online play blah blah blah!'
My friend didn't even bother to have a look at the manual :dunce:.

Played some online racing today for the first time in ages, plenty of people online and It was fun. A refreshing change from GT5.
