Strange AI on Le Mans 24 hours

I've passed the 12 hour mark in the race, and noticed that L. Carey, (who I've lapped consistently through corner cutting) driving a yellow R8, has started cruising around the track incredibly slowly. He's dropped from 2nd place all the way out of the top 8. Any explanation for this?

I think it's one of many of the race's glitches.

When i did my 24 hours more than half a year ago, i had exactly the same happening (hooray for diverse AI....), quite dangerous at night tough when you come up to him, and if i remember right it will stay like that for the remainder of the race.
