Strange things on Ebay

I was wondering is it safe to buy a Xbox off ebay?
Or is it most likely to not work.

I've bought three PS2s off eBay that didn't work.

Well, they didn't work to start with, but after I'd shelled out the £30 and taken 5 minutes inside each, they worked just fine. #2 has run the 24 Hour Nurburgring race, being on for 168 straight hourse, and is now running the La Sarthe 1 24 Hour race.
