You would think a Kazaa (Lite may I stress) download would be completed in less time if you didn't have an internet browser open. I find the download goes faster for some reason with an internet browser open. I also run a program the comes with KLight called Speed UP. Haven't determined whether it actually makes any difference yet but still...

What type of connection do you have? Unless your using a Download Accelerator program of sorts, Windows will manage your download bandwidth and only allow a % of available bandwidth.

Having a browser window open might trigger windows to make a larger % available.

Check out:

http://www.speedbit.com/DefaultT.asp? for 100% download speeds available. Download the free version here: http://www.speedbit.com/DLTrialFree.asp?File=DefaultT#

I would assume though that this is not your case, but rather just a freak of M$ Nature. :)

Cheers

Um - why would Download Accelerator (which unless you buy the Premium version, installes spyware on your machine) make a difference?

"Download Accelerators" never, ever work. They work just like Kazaa does, it finds other servers that host the same file that you want to download and pools those servers together. So, you may be only downloading at 2 kbps, but from 3 different servers, so now your speed is 6 kbps effectively. Your modem never becomes some kind of Super Modem, it just downloads from more servers. The Speed Up program that comes with Kazaa lite only finds even more servers to download from. If you can't find more servers to download from, your speed won't be faster.

I know. That's why I uninstalled Download Accelerator.

I also know how Speed Up works. But it hasn't done much difference yet.

What do you mean, never ever work? If their going out finding mirror sites and can help a faster negotiation and delivery of packets, is that not working? I totally agree that they will in no way give your *modem* or other connection device a tune-up....

I only experienced download speeds of up to about 1kbps more.

Download Accelerator works wonders on this computer.
It's way faster than the normal downloading speeds.

I use (and bought) Getright. I love its features, and no spyware.

Anyone else use it?
