I have to admit that for the longest time, I've avoided the nurburgring. When I say, avoided it, I mean like the plague! Something about 13 miles of track that I never thought that I could memorize, coupled with the challenge of controlling a car for the duration. Recently I decided to run the A spec challenge from the online seasonals, and man...what a blast! I've run it over and over, and each time I become more acquanted with its twists, turns, undulations, and complexity. I've become more respectful of the drivers that have conquered this beast, and the physical toughness it must take to do it. I'm seriously hooked on this track and regret never attempting to give it a shot. I've found a new toy.

You've reached racing nirvana. You've embraced the ultimate challenge. You've tackled the legend. Soon, it becomes more heavenly and more familiar. Like a sour candy that eventually turns sweet; the switch has occurred.

It's a beautiful thing.

Now, try racing online in a pack.

Good on you on finally tackling the ring.

The Ring is like the god of racetracks.

You have gone in the right direction my padawan.

The mercedes nurburgring special event was a humbling trial-by-fire for me. There really isn't anything like that track. It haunts my dreams now..

I too was in this same exact situation. I have done exactly the same thing and now I can't stop, lol. I run it in my Bently Speed 8, which to me, is like heaven on wheels, lol. I absolutely love this track now. I have yet to race it online tho.

I wish they had more tracks like this, it gets old after a while.

I've got a pair of hipster glasses if you need them.

Are there other tracks like the ring?

Are there other tracks like the ring?

No, it's to awesome. In my opinion the Ring is in a league all it's own.

What? There's tracks that are as long and twisty as the Ring?

Such as Pike's Peak or the Isle of Man.

Ah, I see now. I wasn't thinking of those types of tracks, only stuff like Suzuka, Tsukuba, Twin Ring, etc.

I'm really into it. I've already memorized some of the corners/straights:
Flugplatz, Carraciola-Karussel, Schewedenkreuz, Bergwerk, Ex-Muhle, etc.

That would certainly be an additional challenge. Talk about white knuckles, it would put my nerves to the test. The best of the best could run circles around me on that track.

I have a pack of friends that routinely run 111R RMs there for three laps. At the end, last place is usually only 2-2.5 seconds back. It's a blast.

The Special event (AMG driving school) will have helped you out immensely. I loved Nurb from GT4 but found I memorised a lot better on GT5 thanks to this event.

The 'Ring is the reason I still play GT5 to this day

I usually avoid Original circuits and Eiger gravel/Chamonix, but the Grun Holle? Unthinkable.

I like the ring
but
The width of a car is not proportional to the road, in reality the track should look a bit more wide

For people who need to learn to drive the Ring That event is great.

Width looks accurate to me. What you think about is probably the field of view, which makes it look narrower than it is. Try zooming in when driving in cockpit view.

Even with the closest cockpit view it still feels super narrow to me. I was there recently and did 2 laps in my rental focus and the track is pretty wide. A lot wider than the game makes it seem.

Humanity needs the neuralizer.

I enjoy the Nordschleife as much as the next guy, but doing a lap nowadays, while it's not "psssh-this-is-cake" type easy, it has gotten to a comfortable degree of familiar for me. (Bearing in mind I don't often take cars with more than say 600PP. Once you drive very high-powered cars it feels too surreal)

But if we had the neuralizer we could go through the process of learning it all again. Mind you it would have to be a VERY thorough neuralizer, lest we forget everything ever since we learned how to drive on the 'Ring.

Could not agree more, once you have cracked it it's sublime.
