which one would u take? and which is the BEST

I'd take any of those except the Zonda... That car just looks too... conceptish. I especially like the Carrera GT, that thing is just sexy. But I chose the Saleen S7 cause I'm a fan :p The Enzo is alright, but I would prefere a F50 or something anyday. Don't get me wrong, the Enzo is a extremely nice car, but there's just something about the... lines(?) of the car that just makes it feel.. wrong or that they could of done something to it..

Supercars are purchased to be head turners - the Ferrari and Lamborghini have the biggest effect there, and the Ferrari, especially in yellow, does a really fine job of that.

Caveat: Never seen one in real life...

I always thought that the Enzo was something of a dog to look at, but then I read about Jamiroquai front-man Jay Kay's car, which is black, and it looks very good indeed. Very Stealth Fighter.

Carrera GT

All the others look like a bunch of futuristic Batmobile wannabes.:yuck:

giles, did jay get one? I remember seeing him on top gear, and he was talking about it. He seems like a really cool guy.

I didn't realize how many supercars there are now. Economy must be headed for an upswing(*).

For true supercar supercardom, I'd have to say the Zonda, as ugly as it is. I have a feeling nothing else listed can touch it. The Saleen has that wonderful American sound, but I'd prefer it on a Mustang or Corvette, not a supercar. Fast and crude, which is not a combination that makes a supercar. The Enzo may be great, but I don't think it can hold up to the Zonda...if only just. It's definitely an excellent exercise of function first, form one-hundred-and-second. The Lamborghini isn't up to the task, either, and less so than the Enzo. I like the looks, but it's more VAG than ITA.

That leaves the Porsche. Which is spectacular. But not up to the limits of the Zonda (surprise). However, it does seem to ooze supercar...supercar-whatever. Moreover, like the Zonda (and Saleen and Enzo), it has extreme character. Not just its own character, but an extreme version of the "company standard" character. The Enzo is an extreme 360M, the Saleen an extreme S351 (I think), and the Porsche is a modern & extreme 550 Spyder (or Boxster; your choice).

So my choice? The Porsche. It's not the fastest, or the most-anything, but it's got a great balance of everything (and quite accomplished in all aspects).

I don't believe in Murray's extremely limited view of what defines a supercar (just as Wheeler's definition of a sports car is foolishly narrow-minded in today's market).

(*)There was a theory put out by someone that supercars come to market at the low points in the economic flow, having been conceived during a boom, only to arrive way too late, right in time for the lowest point in a recession, with nothing but an upswing to follow.

Yes. The Car article was on him going to collect it.

i think you are right, remember what happened in the 80's? f40, 959, diablo (well maybe more countach) etc... they are all products of that.

the enzo looks ugly to me, the lights at the back look wrong, it needs a wing and the front nose looks too much like a formula one car. also the styling looks very fiat. whether that is a compliment to fiat i dont know! :D

saleen looks like a mac f1, very sexy but im sure the porsche will be the best all round car just like someone said. plus it looks like the most beautiful porsche built to date! :D its a shame manufacturers didnt run competitions to do like whoever would get the best laptime around a track would win the car. or something, so that real enthusiasts could get them rather than posers who will just damage the cars by not looking after them properly. (professional racing drivers would be excluded from the competition clearly)

DeTomaso Pantera
Dodge Viper and Viper SRT-10
Ferrari 250 GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo
Ford GT
Jaguar XJ220 and XJR-15
Lamborghini Countach, Diablo, and Murcielago
McLaren F1
Porsche 959 and Carrera GT

You can pretty much go right down the list on www.supercars.net. Actually, I think the Pagani Zonda is the only one to break that trend, having arrived a good 2 years early. Still, even at the lowest point in the economic cycle, at least us gearheads have something to keep us distracted. :D

hehe, i've had the F40 on my wall since '87 and my dentist was refurbishing his clinic and gave me his 288gto poster which is framed and now hanging in my living room, very classy :D

i think you DID mean 288gto, the 250gto came out in the 50's and 60's and costs about $6million each now

man after seeing the zonda vs murcielago video, im starting to like the Zonda, its sick! and the engine is awesome! 7.3l AMG built v12!!!! wooo!

Out of those you listed, I'd take the Enzo. But, out of any, I'd preffer a Diablo SV. Metalic peach with blue pearl, 19/20" rims front/back with big big polished lips and black spokes. Don't forget, lots of carbon fiber goodies.

yes that engine is quite something, but seeing as i feel the clk gtr is more beautiful, if they could put the engine in THAT, give it a normal (non-paddle-shift) gearbox and covert it to right hand drive, i'd buy it hehe (oh yeah and if they made it cheaper).

why can't supercars like that be mass produced to drive the costs down? i'd save up the $100,000k or so if thats what they managed to make it for.
