Supercars for lemans 24h??

I want to race in the 24h of lemans, but I want to know what the best car that I own (or want to own) is for the race

Here are some cars that I own (fully modified unless shown otherwise)

1) McLaren f1 (I'm tempted to use this, stock tranny)

2) Pagani Zonda R (low downforce to add tire life)

3) Corvette ZR1 RM

4) Corvette ZR1 (slick, no wing)

5) Mazda furai

6) Ford GT

7) Audi r8 V10

8) GT by Citroën race car

9) Nissan GTR specV

10) Mazda rx7 lm race car

11) super GT supra

12) Ferrari 458 italia

Cars that I can afford/easily win:

1) Ferrari Enzo

2) Bugatti veyron

3) Lamborghini murcialago SV

If you have any semi-affordable car choices, speak up!!

Please tell me which car you prefer!!
 
Corvette ZR1 RM
I beat LMP cars online with it.
 
The only car you could win with out of that list is the Corvette ZR1, and Maybe the Zonda R.

The top contenders of that race have 750hp in a 850kg chassis, so...
 
I use a redbull, but since your asking I doubt you have it. Try the Mazda 797b or Audi r10 tdi, fun cars to drive to. Or the cheap formula gt car for 2.5 mil

No x1000, it doesn't have any headlights. When night falls you'll realize you screwed yourself over. OP should grind the latest Ferrari seasonal and buy a Peugeot 908.



But because you want to use a supercar your best bet is the Corvette ZR1 RM.

the peugot is nice too 908 and 905 (UCD)

The only problems that I face with those cars is tire wear, (ESPECIALLY with the Zonda r [it only lasted 5 laps in the Nurburgring 4h before pitting]) and top speed down the Mulsanne straight.

Then you won't get very far, sorry to tell you that. As has been stated, the ZR1 is the only one out of the list I'd take. The Zonda R is a beast, but lacks top speed, which is crucial at Le Mans. And hell to drive for 24h. Your list would be better suited for the Nurburgring 24h, where there are no prototypes (at least IRL, couldn't be bothered to try them on the game).
 
What should I set my priorities as, performance wise. Should I put more into top end speed and raw power, or should I go for acceleration and agility?

Apparently, you can get around this by leaving the driving line on.

In that case, I would use the McLaren and hope it rains...

(my McLaren can easily make 240 and possibly 250 with stock tranny)
 
Another problem is that you won't drive 100% focused on a 24h hour race, you need a car that provides you margin of error, of course, you might beat those cars in 3, 4, 5, 10 laps using Zondas and Mclarens, as the AI of the game is far from being brilliant, but as your level of concentration drops, your laptimes will also drop, also making spins and out of the track excursions more likely. So when you drive on underdog cars, you have to drive on the edge to keep leading, and driving on the edge when tired will lead to frustration. I can assure you that.

Good point!!
Luckily, I know the track like the back of my hand and can run it competitively when I'm half asleep. There's also a reason why I mentioned that I hope for rain, that's because of the race of '95, when McLaren made 1st and 3rd overall, due to rain. The interesting thing about le sarthe is that you can reach great speeds in the rain and the lightweight cars slide easier in the corners.
 
The AI is stupid when it drives on rain. If it rains for half of the race you'll get a walk.

But there are few things we are missing. Are you planning on tune the machines up? How much? Which tires are you gonna use? AI uses Racing Medium on dry surface. Are using racing aids? Are you planning on "pass by" the final two chicanes? etc.

Right now I'm giving the Zonda R a try, no engine nor wheight mods, full downforce and racing mediums. And yeah, I'm getting my ass handed.

Oh, I see your Zonda is fully moded.

Do several races at the Ferrari season at La Sarthe. 500k in under 4 minutes :). Should get you an LMP car quickly.

full df on zonda r means tire changes every few laps.

Well in that case I would go for the McLaren, as you said in your post before that one. If you can handle it good, you should be fine. Problem of the ZR1 is that it's a tire shredder when you have to push hard, which you will against the LMPs. And it's unlikely for it to rain for 24h straight.
 
I'd go for the 908.
Why? Because it would seriously make me angry if I been driving for 22-23 hours only to find out I'm gonna be 2nd in the race.

Personally I;d use an X1 because then you only have to drive 18 hours and you can park it for the last 6 hours .. get some sleep or paint your front door or sumethin'...
 
Don't drive the Mazda Furai or FGT because they have no headlights :P or any other car that doesn't have headlights
 
The Enzo fully modded will handle it easy. Top speed can rival the 908. I just finished it with the 908 and you can do it well with 3:30 or less laps, and a top speed nearing 245MPH (drafting). Setup the top gear alone(better acceleration for the rest) to hit 237(on the tranny setup screen it's like 242 or so). Doing the Ferrari races with it, I got a 3:32 lap time on the first try.
 
The 458 has no front downforce. So does the mp4. I would say use a 908, 787b or the RM vette

And it doesn't really sound like you read what the OP said. He wants a to see which one of his supercars that can run the 24 hours of Le Mans. Do you really think a Ferrari 458 Italia and an MP4-12C can keep up with an LMP?

2) Pagani Zonda R (low downforce to add tire life) Brilliant car, but too slow. 👎

3) Corvette ZR1 RM Brilliant car. Good handling, but speed is not up to scratch with the comp :indiff:


4) Corvette ZR1 (slick, no wing) Tail happy, slow... 👎


5) Mazda furai No lights 👎

6) Ford GT Too heavy & agressive 👎

7) Audi r8 V10 Well Balanced, but compared to the competition is far too slow & heavy

8) GT by Citroën race car Not a bad choice, slightly tail happy & still lower in power then the rest 👎

9) Nissan GTR specV Too heavy. Not enough power:tdown:

10) Mazda rx7 lm race car Nice car, but just too slow with it's (relatively) low power 👎

11) super GT supra While you may be able to beat the AI for a while but over 24 hours... 👎


12) Ferrari 458 italia I know this car well. With a good tune and well cut chicanes it can get good times on Sarthe. But simply not fast enough 👎

Cars that I can afford/easily win:

1) Ferrari Enzo Nice car if cleverly tuned. Cornering speed is good. Too tailhappy 👎


2) Bugatti veyron Nice car when tuned, but corners really slowly 👎


3) Lamborghini murcialago SV Understeer will drive you crazy. Far slower then competitions cars 👎

OK. So of all your options i can only really see you winning in two of them. But- The last thing you want in a 24 hour race is pressure. By using any of the cars on your list, you will spend a lot of time worrying if you can really make it to the end in first. Pressure like this over an extended period of time takes away your focus and concentration leading to crashes. An interesting thing to note, is that by turning downforce down, you drasticly increase rear tyre wear.

Remember this formula!
Less grip=more wheelspin=worse tyre wear=more pitting=closer race=possible 🤬 up

Coming from someone that has done this race (In a Mazda 787B) i must tell you not to rush into this race. I'm sure you are very excited to get it done & move on to Nurburgring (i was too) but after a few hours you will begin to bore of the experience, losing focus & crashing. If you enter a worse car then the opposition you will find yourself putting off continuing the race and leaving on your PS3 for a lot longer then you first intended.

Instead of bothering with any of the super cars you already have, i must suggest you either save up & buy an LMP or borrow a PSN friend's. The magic isn't worth the worry 👍


PS: While using the Furai or FGT with a driving line is possible, it would take a lot away from the experience. Whats the fun driving through the beautiful tie change of GT5 when youre following a bright blue & red line (you cant turn it off in race remember...)
