Surprised by PD

Did sony have any other choice? it's not like they could have counted on PD to release something in a timely manner for PSVR. They Actually gave Evo studios a hell of a chance to right the ship. But well you know how it went.

Broken mess at launch.
Low sales.
Got shut down.

other then graphically and the awesome gifs is there any way it didn't flop ?

I thought Driveclub was an excellent game by the time I bought it, Nov 2015. But I paid peanuts and was pleasantly surprised.

What you're missing here is that PD have banked a tremendous amount of cash. Evolution hadn't.

It's quite possible that Sony had decided to shut down Evolution even before Driveclub, but then needed a racer for their new console. How the **** would any of us know?!

Which is completely incorrect. More so than ever in this day and age.

Currently Rainbow Six Siege is one of the biggest games in the world after being considered a relative flop at launch. That's been down to regular content drops and listening to community feedback. In fact the biggest game of all, GTAV, launched without it's online component, yet now, almost 5yrs later, is as big as ever. Again down to regular DLC and delivering on community requests.

GT Sport is perfectly structured to add more content, be it cars, tracks or events. There is no need for more than one GT per generation, so long as the community is supported, revenue is generated from DLC, and the title gathers momentum.

Driveclub is also a great example of a game with a poor launch that turned into a gem thanks to numerous updates and dlc's.

No subjectivity, DC is a flop. What is so hard for you to understand ? Those are still low sales, given the quick price drops it received. It was on discount day one with PS plus. You me or anyone else enjoying it is irrelevant to the fact it was a flop.

Gtplanet news is more bias than most with their aim to defend Gt and make any excuses for it they can, i've tried discussing it with the writers on here. They are apt at spinning things to defend GT and avoiding all facts to the contrary.
Huzar: It didn't do well, it was a broken mess...
That subjectivity.

Look, at the risk of you misinterpreting this as something it's not, I'm going to do the adult thing here and wish you good luck with life, as I see no point in continuing this waste of time, especially when you do not seem interested in reading your own posts.

Bye.

+++2 million for a AAA title is not doing well, this isn't PS1 gen anymore.
Driveclub ranks as the 50th best selling PS4 title with 2.35m sales and the 9th best selling game published by SCE on the PS4. http://www.vgchartz.com/platform/69/playstation-4/

As a comparison (make sure you look at the related games figures on the right side of the page)

VGChartz is not a reliable source of sales information.

Driving is NOT for everyone... That right there is the problem.

It boils down to greed... They want to please everyone so they can sell more. In the end they have pleased no one! It's too sim-like for the kids and it's too arcade-like for the petrolheads. What I can say for sure, this game is a bad joke and it is the final nail in the coffin for Gran Turismo / PD / deluded Japanese guy. This is the final GT game, I'll bet my house on it!

You've got some narrow blinkers on there, plenty of us love GT Sport and it is one of the most popular racing games right now if not the most popular.

That's hilarious you think that. From my perspective it has seemed as if staff here has been overly critical in regards to GT Sport and said a bunch of stuff that I not only don't agree with but that made me look up and think "am I on GTPlanet?". To me it has seemed like some of the staff here have hated the game and think it is terrible.

Horizon 3 sold more than that i think . It was a success
The link is there, why would you think they are lying?

They don't update sales often and those are phisical copies numbers anyway .

They update weekly but there is a delay as the information would take time to gather, the sales numbers are accurate as of October 7th so recent enough to be relevant for the titles I linked. And if those are physical sales that means Driveclub sold more than 2.35m. Regardless the sales numbers are relative and if you are correct and those numbers do not include digital sales it would be reasonable to expect that the figures would be proportional.

It was a strategic move to get people playing online . On facebook, all the people who hated the game are super hyped about the singleplayer update. Polyphony and sony know the racing genre is dying a slow death, naysayers can deny it all they want but the traditional arcade genre is basiclay non-existant at this point on major platforms. Part of this is due to the mobile market giving casual gamers their racing game fix . By having a decent sized player base who plays online constantly, PD is setting themselves up to outlive their competition. PD is looking forward if it means having to piss their past fans off, then so be it, those past fans are growing smaller and smaller every year .
Also drive club sold 2.5 Million including digital. Evo had a 2.5 million sold community celebration.

It varies.

Amazon in the UK had already dropped it to £34 before the Black Friday offers, its currently £19!

In comparison FM7 is £25, PC2 £40, FH3 £20, F1 2017 £45 and WRC7 £32.

So by that logic, Gravity Rush 2 must be a top seller, I haven't found it for under 45 USD since it came out. By that logic Gravity rush remastered bust be selling GREATLY since it has never ever been discounted and copies are selling for 65$. FYI both titles sold piss poor amounts and are considered financial flops.

I for one don't mind vg numbers unlike many here. But thank you for showing the brilliance of Forza. In the same time frame PD were making a content lacking game. In the same time frame EStudios released one broken game and died due to it.

Forza games sold 8.71 million not counting digital between two distinct yet both awesome types of car games, the same assets uses throughout each title just more and more added with each one. The consumer given a choice of a new title each and every freaking year.

And the most telling, their developers not shut down due to market failure. They Are going strong.
