Survey: single most effective modification to a car

I couldnt help but wonder what the single most cost effective modification to a car in GT4 could be. I'm afraid to say it, but I think its the nitrous. its cheap, and if you turn it up all the way, you can get some serious acceleration. moreover, it doesnt increase your weight or your horsepower, so your car handles just as well, and you dont take the A-spec points hit
whaddya think?

God I hate to agree but just like in real life NOS is cheap and cheap (as in cheating in my opinion). Taking NOS out of the aquasion I'd have to say Brakes.

Either a suspension upgrade (obviously the racing suspension would be best, but without $15-20k to spend on a suspension, the cheaper ones will help to a lesser extent....) or a tire upgrade probably. You can add a few horsepower with a small turbo, or a racing exhaust, for cheap, but if the rest of the car can't handle it, the extra power will be wasted.

I think the best single upgrade by far would be racing tires, but if cost is your number one issue and your car isin't light, i would go with stage 1 weight reduction.

Turbo/supercharger if available. If not, weight reduction. I rarely modify my cars. I prefer to keep them stock and on N1 tires (for drifting) and N2 tires (for racing). Some cars come with S3 tires and in that case, I would use N3 tires for racing, N2 for drift.

Wow, I can't even imagine using N2/N3 for racing. I would see myself spinning out so many times...

You must have some pretty good skill to use those tires for all your cars

i think the fully customisable transmission because you can squeeze the maximum performance outta ya car with acceleration or top speed

stage 1 weight reduction aswell

Depending on the performance on the car in stock form but Racing Tyres are a very effictive modification.

Stage 1 Weight reduction, In the heavier cars it can knock off almost 100kilos, and it is the cheapest (I think). Racing Brakes and a Racing Chip are also top of my shopping lists.

i think its the racing chip its cheap and inceases your hp by about 50 % in the beggining

50%!!?? What car does the chip raise it by 50% on a previously unmodded car?

I'm also gonna say stage 1 weight reduction, massive improvements to all areas of performance:
accelerating, braking, cornering capability
- - although, it does impact a-spec points

that, and the stage 3 clutch are the first modifications i make to any cars i plan to race.

tires the only upgrade i have used so far, improves everything about the car, handeling, braking acceleration what other mod can all this.

Wieght reduction comes in a close second :)

Suspension(duh) even with a wing kit and racing tires nothing beat the improvement and modifications that can be done with a racing suspension.

I think tyres are an obvious choice, but they're a lot of $$$ early in the game. Weight reduction has been my favourite for new cars, oil change for second hands. Interested by the clutch coming up twice ... I'll have to try that and see what effect it has. I've only previously bothered with clutches when I bang up the power to 300HP+

Cheers, Pointy
