Just finished this race. I used the Toyota Castrol TOM's SUPRA '97. I wanted to use a car that was even with the other cars and figured this one would be a good pick. I did nothing to it but oil change and washed it and racing soft tires, left everything just the way it is, no tuning, and still finish 5 lap before 2nd place. I was very disapointed in the fact that the car could leave every other car on the staights, it made the race really easy, I was hoping that car would be underpowered by some of the other cars seeing how it was the oldest one in the race. The AI drivers are just to slow in the turns, I wish there was a way I could turn up there difficulty.

Anyways It seems there is no reason at all to use racing hard tires, with racing soft on I had to pit every 15 laps, avarge lap time was in the high 1.59.xxx to low 2.00.xxx. with the racing hards on the avarge was 2.03.xxx, and still had to pit by lap 15. The tires still had grip but but the laps where almost 2.10.xxx and the AI would catch time on me. Still between the to lap times its about a 3 second difference, in 15 laps that ment the soft tire put me ahead of the hard tires by 45 seconds, long enough to do a pit stop and get new soft tire even if I went more laps with the hard tires on. It switched back and forth between the 2 when ever I would pit, until I just gave up on the hard tires.

Total Time: 6.02.32.xxx (maybe faster if I would of stayed on soft tires)
Fastest Lap: 1.57.838
2nd place was 5 laps behind in the red NSX (starts with a A, don't know how its spelt) and he was way ahead of all the other car, maybe by 2 laps but Im not sure.

So that's my story, anyone use a different car that was a little better of a match, if so I would like to know, thanks.
 
racing soft is overkill, i think the AI are on racing medium or something less?
 
I'm going to do this event when I can be bothered, I play about 13 Hours a day, so it's really come to my surprise I haven't done this yet. I'm going to use a tuned Skyline. I'll tune it to 500HP to match the GT cars, but because it's not the same as a GT car, it will be hard to get infront.

i've started this race three times now... every 10 laps i pit and pause, and step away for a few minutes then go back for more. each time, somewhere in the 70 to 100 lap range, when i go to unpause, my stupid left thumb pushes right on the left analog stick just before i hit X... restarting the race.

i'm thinking about cutting the mischievous thumb off.
 
@JJ72 the very first AI car to pit, pitted on lap 20, and the rest trickled in behind in later laps, so you are probably right.

@JaiAE86 yea that should be a good rase, I should have done something like that.

I was also hoping it would rain but it never did lol

@ damaged case, haha that has happened to me on one the the other endurence race, but I wasn't as far into it as you was. I stoped every hour to have a smoke and then started again

on to the topic, though... i haven't gone through the entire list of cars you can use, but have you checked to see if any of the GT350 cars are available? i know Subaru has one, and there's 1 or 2 in the tuned car dealerships.
 
There is no limitations on that race, witch is why I picked that car, but I should of known you have to underpower urself to have a good race lol
 
I'm planning on using the RE Amemiya RX-7 for this race - it has about 200hp less than the other cars, but handles just as well. I did a quick test using the 10 lap race in the Super GT cup, and I was only half a second quicker than 2nd place.

It's a pretty shocking reflection on GT5's AI, really. I'm looking forward to it though.
 
I recently completed suzuka 1000km and did a report of it also which can be seen here. I used a arta garaiya '03 race car and finished the race in just under 7hours. It rained for 6h 15 min and I quickly noticed that the AI was no match in wet conditions. I had a good race though when the track got dry near the end and I just might do this race again later on with no rain. I used racing softs and adjusted maximum downforce, also set the gears a bit shorter. I didn't fiddle with the suspension that much as the stock settings worked well enough for me.
 
just started it and it's raining, i'm guessing it will take more than 6 hours
 
You have to pick a car that isn't even fit to be on the same grid as your opponents in endurance races just to have a chance of losing. If you are slightly underpowered, or about evens then you will walk it. It's crap. I would love the AI in GT5 (or any GT) to be really aggressive, but they aren't. They just tootle around the track like a granny in Tesco car park.

That sucks, try this: instead of selecting 'continue' and pressing 'X', risking a restart, simply press 'O' to cancel the menu; no matter what option the cursor is sitting on, even 'restart', it will go back to the race. I have been doing this for all my races, since I've heard so many horror stories about restarts on 4- or 9-hour races.
 
There is no challenge in GT5 really, unless you take a dinky Toy out against formula cars.
I just get all events against AI done with and do some online racing with like minded people where you DO have a challenge ;) Lots more fun to.

I really struggle to see how people like racing the AI, the AI is totally stupid in this game lol. But each to his own !
 
I finally just finished mine as well. Had the worst experience doing it. First time at around 100 laps i got stuck between two barriers those red and green things near the finish line and couldnt get out. So yes I had to restart at that point. Second time around i paused game at 125 laps to check phone, by mistake moved cursor over to restart, didn't notice, and clicked it. So now i have finally finished this race and it feels damn good.
 
Had a wet race the entire way...the condition made it interesting....the competition is crap in the wet....and thats with no TCS or ABS...

The Asparadrink RX-7 is stable enough in the rain, but if the Takata and Arta NSX show up in dry race, they'll walk all over you. The blue Re-Amemiya I haven't tried, if you ment that one.

The Garaiya I'm having the same problem with, I just can't tune it to compete once theres a dry line. Even while its still raining, once that Takata NSX breaks the pack it reels me in like im driving a geo metro or sth.


Both cars can easily win the Super GT championship, but it feels like the cars in the enduro are much better tuned.
 
I was hoping to get to race in the rain, i started, and quit and started again 3 time to try and get rain at the beginning, on the 3rd try I just started the race hoping to get rain halfway in, but nope.

Have done every a-spec race up till lvl 30 besides FGT Championship, and no rain yet, well the AMG test on the ring and some L Test, but not a real race

Odd. I've seen rain on the Suzuka at least 10 times now, i just exit and enter to make it sunny though ;). Only a 4 hour race with an X1 so i get it over with, lol.
 
Yea b-spec bob has done everything to lvl 29 and only one rain race for him, and that was the FGT Champ lol.
 
I'm looking forward to doing this race. Gonna make it interesting by employing my 9 year old son as Co-Driver.

He's currently practising for the MX5 4 Hour enduro that we're gonna do together, then we're gonna smash the Suzuka 1000km together.

Planning on driver changes at every pitstop then with his 'Impressive for a 9 year old' pace and my 'slightly better than average' pace we should be able to make the race pretty interesting.

This is my best endurance race so far. I was in a Nissan GTR'08 (oil change only) vs the Honda NSX'06. All the AI is racing with stock tires (hard racing) so if you want a super easy race then even medium racing tires will do it. Tires has the biggest impact in GT5 so having better tires than AI is a major advantage. Tires allows you to put your HP more to use and come out of the corners a lot faster which means faster down the straight as well.
The NSX was faster down the straight ( with even tires) while I was able to beat him in the corners but not by much. We met many times side by side in the corners. I end up winning this 6 hour race with the NSX right on my bumper.

P.S as someone noted I pitted every 20 laps just like the NSX except at the end I pitted a few laps early and got a 13 second advantage with 12 laps to go but NSX now had fresher tires so was able to slowly track me down and was on my bumper with 2 laps to go.

I would have used an Acura NSX RM to enjoy my favourite track, but time restraints meant that I had to use the X1 (which I hate).
 
I just did this race with a stock Xanavi 350Z, turned up the downforce all the way and did my fastest lap of 1'52.9 on lap 172! I did another 1'52.9 on lap 98 but its hard to get a good lap in with so many lappers. I had a 5 lap lead, but while on a break my son had to hit some buttons and I did a 14 minute lap. I still won by 5 laps. :) It took me about 14 hours to complete :lol:

For giggles I went online with this car afterwards, which after an oil changed had 25 more hp, and I did a 1'53.3 after a warm up lap, but it definitely felt like the rear was a little bit more loose.

Does anyone know if you get more EXP points if it rains the whole race? I'm 73 laps in and I'm taking a break, but it has rained from the begining. I just hope I get something extra for doing the race like this. I'm using the Tom's Castrol Supra and the best lap I have is 2.16.188 and average 2.20
 
this race is so boring in the rain, i just want to restart it cause i'm on lap 60/172 and i'm 3 laps ahead, dry track would be better
