this race is so boring in the rain, i just want to restart it cause i'm on lap 60/172 and i'm 3 laps ahead, dry track would be better

I agree. I didn't have rain the whole race. If it's raining at the beginning I restart the race. AI really can't handle the rain as well as the player. I found this is true with F1 2010 as well.

Yes, I am serious. Life gets in the way of my sim racing.
And I couldn't have done the Tsukuba 9 hour, I am only level 31 after the 1000km of Suzuka.

Also, if it is raining but no spray is coming up from the tires, use slicks and drive like it is dry.

You spent a lot of time enjoying Suzuka 1000 KM, I envy you :(
I had to rush it with an X1.
 
Yea I did this as soon as I hit lvl 30, this race put me atleast 3/4 the way to lvl 31

Odd. I've seen rain on the Suzuka at least 10 times now, i just exit and enter to make it sunny though ;). Only a 4 hour race with an X1 so i get it over with, lol.

ditto on that and the only time i really get into a challenge race is when they're timed enduro's, then it's fun.
 
I seemed to me that I had an opposite race from that in which you had. I did it with the Yellow Hat GTR GT-500 and this was the results I had. When I started the race it was raining and I mean down pour. So I started on Full Wets for tires (obviously) and for the first 80 laps it rained and I was stuck in 5th place behind a Arta NSX that I could not pass for the life of me. (AI slows down alot for corners but but when its raining hard you go just as slow through the corners). The rain stop some where between laps 80-90 and as soon as it does oddly everyone pit ( I assume to go to intermediates) I stayed on full wets for a few laps or until some water is pushed off from exsessive lapping. Then I eventually pit and went to intermidiates and was back in mid field. With 20 laps left the driving lines where dry (so I thought) so I pit and switched to hard race componds.Eventually got up to 2nd, spun out on turn 7 by getting two wheels in the grass. And unfortunatly finished 3rd. It sucks I did not win but this race and the way pit stradigy played into the outcome, this made e fall in love with GT5 just that much more. Now all PD needs to do now is turn some of those standard cars into premiums like they said they would. And yes I was online durring the Suzuka 1000km.
 
Using the best tyres gives you better grip when coming onto the straight and more momentum which makes you faster toward the end of the straight, thats why it appears that you have better acceleration than cars with the same power.

Well if I would of known the tire changed ur speed on the straights and not just corners, then I would of known the AI was on the same tire, but like I said I put on hard tires, but by 15 laps on them they couldn't hold any turn and the AI would gain time on me, and the first car pitted on lap 20, there is no way I could get 5 more laps out of them, and I didn't have racing mediums to try. I guess the AI can make tires last a lot longer then the player or me

In my race I pitted every 20 laps just like the NSX. Try to keep your tires out of the red especially hard racing as it easier to skid. You speed out of the corners greatly effect your speed all the way down the straight. In racing it very important to come out of corners before a long straight with as much speed as possible. Often requires to brake a little more going into the corner so you can gun the gas sooner. Listen to your tires to determine how much they are skidding.
I had all assist off including ABS. If you are careful you can brake harder and faster than with ABS:1. Just don't try to brake hard and turn the corner at the same time.

Yea I had abs at 1 but everything else off, and I was pushing kinda hard on the tire, and yea I always brake early so I can come out of the corner as fast as I can, often time I hate it as the AI or online players always hit the back or me cuz they wait till the last moment posssibly to brake
 
So it doesn't always rain? Every time I go to the track it's raining... And I can't find a car that I actually enjoy driving in the rain either; it's a useless ploy. It's like Polyphony was stretching to make things tough but the AI is so bad in it that it actually makes the race easier... The only time I've had a challenge with the AI is in the F1 GT Championship, and that was before I learned how to set up the car, then it was easy.

My maths obviously told me that I was not going to win the race and I wasn't going to sit there for another 4 hours for nothing so I quit the race and lost almost 2 hours of work. If I had already won the race once then I probably would have continued to see how it turned out but my advice is if the race is wet then you need a car a lot quicker than the AI to ensure you are on the pace when it dries.

If I'm not mistaken you get just as much experience no matter where you finish so it's not for nothing. (after 30+ level you going to need millions of experience to reach the next level anyways.) If there are differences in experience per position it's not by much. You get less cash per position but endurance races is already the worst way getting cash in this game.
 
2nd place was probably the ARTA NSX if it was red? And I'm going to use either my Minolta or my FGT, so how long would you estimate it would take me to finish it?
 
Ok, I have done suzuka1000km twice now and this time in dry conditions using a wedssport celica. The car was stock, only changed oil and bought race softs just in case. You can read my report of the race in the new race reports section if interested. It was a fun race and if you are after a challenge like me, I recommend a JGTC300 class car for this race.
 
I finally finished it after 3 attempts (accidentally hit restart >.<, black out, parents wanted to watch a blueray movie and couldnt wait an hour...). Used a bone stock Z06RM on racing medium tires for the final 4.5 hours. First hour and a half it was raining and I gained a massive lead over the other cars, after the rain stopped they all pitted and then came out on racing slicks and spun out all over the place and I gained even more lead over them. After it really dried out the Z06RM was still too fast, I was hoping it'd be slower...
 
Man the face of this prize car is ugly (imo), but I do like the XP. Finished 45 laps ahead of 2nd in a carbon X2010.
 
About to have a go in a stock 03 Garaiya. First time ever using manual gears. Wish me luck!
 
I did this race with a 100% stock ARTA NXS. I used Racing Hard tires only. ABS 1, no other aids.

The racing was extremely tight from start to finish. In the end, I won by only 1.8 seconds over 2nd place.

So far, I've done this race twice. The first time I used the Castrol Supra which seemed to be too easy.

The second time I used the RE Anemiya RX7 and it was a much closer race, until it started raining that is. Once it rains, its like the AI forgets that its a race. It seems like they are doing caution laps. :dunce:

If I do it again, I'm gonna have to choose wisely.
 
This is by far one of the most enjoyable endurance races among the lot. I'd definitely do it again if I had the time. :dopey:

congradulations on completing it.

i've started this race three times now... every 10 laps i pit and pause, and step away for a few minutes then go back for more. each time, somewhere in the 70 to 100 lap range, when i go to unpause, my stupid left thumb pushes right on the left analog stick just before i hit X... restarting the race.

i'm thinking about cutting the mischievous thumb off.

Finally got rond to finishing this race there. I swapped my 03 Garaiya for my 08 for feaar of a lack of power and although the Arta NSX gave me a race for 70 laps or so it seemed like he just would not pit until his tyres had dissapeared and his lap times increased way too much. I the end i lapped him witch was no fun at all. First time with manual gears witch was easier than i taught and my Autobacs arta garaiya 08 is now a whopping 508 bhp so i feel disgusted i changed car :(

I'm going to do this event when I can be bothered, I play about 13 Hours a day, so it's really come to my surprise I haven't done this yet. I'm going to use a tuned Skyline. I'll tune it to 500HP to match the GT cars, but because it's not the same as a GT car, it will be hard to get infront.

13 hours a day, how's that even possible :p. That like playing gt5 from 11:00 to 24:00. Sounds pretty awesome :p.
 
Did this race in my Nomad restricted to the power level that the Xanavi Z was at.

Ended up winning by 5 laps, used racing mediums to see if I can squeeze extra laps, but settled with softs as I didn't have the patience to keep it slow, or slow enough for the AI to keep up.

I wanted it to rain actually to see the transition from sunshine to rain, but sunshine throughout.

That is amazing race wasn't it? (I was mistaken before. The AI is running on med racing tires while I ran on hard). I was running GTR '08 and it came down to last lap . One of the best and most tense endurance races I ever had. With the new patch with AI improvements I need to do this one again to see if the improvements make any real difference. Did you race this before or after 1.10 patch?
 
I rerun this race to see if the AI improvements has made any difference.
I was racing a stock YellowHat GT-R '08 without any upgrades or tuning including no oil change (running stock HR tires vs AI MR tires).

The good : the Arta NSX '06 (the fastest AI) seem to slow down a little less in the S curves as well seem to pass lap cars a little faster than before.

Before the first pitstop I thought I had another tough race like before. Which begins up:

The bad: The Arta NSX '06 (as well as other AI) now pitting 2 laps later so instead of pitting every 20 laps they are pitting every 22. I still pitted at lap 20 (had the lead thinking the NSX on my bumper would follow). This means I will have to make 8 pit stops vs NSX 7 but the NSX has to run a total of 12 more laps than me on worn tires during the race. It turn out the AI lost a lot more time on those 12 laps than I did with an extra pit stop.

The finally results was I beat the NSX somewhere around 1:40. My best lap was 2:04.084.
Last time I race with my G27 and this time my DFGT. At first I start out with the GT3 yet I felt I'm faster with the DFGT even faster than G27on this track. It seems like I had more of a ffb feel when the back end was about to swing around on the DFGT especially when braking (ABS off). (I do have a firm sponge under my DFGT brake pedal)
