T300 wheel in ps3 mode?

Hi guys, signed up just to ask this.

How do I get my ps4 to recognize my wheel as ps3 mode?

I have the random button issue, happens about once an hour. Tried a bunch of things but they dont work.

Will go home to update my firmware and try ps3 mode. Last night I tried ps3, but the wheel wouldnt work in game (Not recognized?)

I know in PS4 mode, I have to press the button on my wheel to activate it as my controller. But how do I do this in ps3 mode?

Can anyone please post a sequence of steps that I can follow? Much appreciated!!
 
I can't figure why you'd want to use PS3 mode if you have a PS4.... you will lose some functionality. Here's the page from the manual.....

The understeer rattle/vibration is lower or different in GTS when you use PS3 mode, it emulates a T500.
The T500 doesn’t work in PS menus on PS4. Not really a problem if you have a controller or keyboard handy. You can also use your TV remote for launching games

I use my T300 in PS4 mode for GT Sport. Dont know of any rattle during understeer. What's that all about? My wheel feels great, all the time.

And the random button press issue was resolved with a firmware update. No issues in over a year now.

Ohhhh...understeer. I always oversteer. But seriously, I'll have to see why I'm either so used to it and ignoring it, or maybe my ffb settings are working around it.

I think the guy that started the thread uses too much steering angle and this is why he encounters this regularly and always complaining about it, two threads worth of bitching about it. I only get that rumble when I’ve over done it and I find it informative rather than annoying. It does apparently change the rattle/vibration FFb when you put a t300 in PS3 mode.

I've been using my T300 in PS3 mode to reduce the judder effect, but after your comments I though I should try again using the standard PS4 setting. I've just completed a race and the vibration was horrible when the car even started to understeer.
I suspect that you use settings different to mine and I wonder if you'd mind sharing them with me?
I'd much rather use PS4 mode if I can find a way of at least reducing the awful juddering that I currently experience.

I use torque 3 and sensitivity 2.

I believe if you use it on PS3 mode that you will lose a lot of detail in the ffb, that would be a real waste of your nice wheel.
 
Also run a T300, 5 months old, used straight from box never run a firmware update and I’ve no clue about any understeer juddering :confused:

Tested it out and I'm not getting any audible rattling regardless of FFB setting. I am getting a light wheel when understeering and the some vibration if I push it harder. Its nothing crazy and I could barely hear the wheel doing this with the game sound off. So yeah, a bit of a vibration when far over the limit, I guess. Unless you are on a banked oval, probably wouldn't drive that way.

that sounds like you don't believe me, just try your wheel in both modes, if you don't feel that PS4 mode is giving your hands much additional and more subtle information then I dont know what to say to you.
 
That has nothing to do with believing you and everything to do with the lack of detail on the tracks coming through FFB in the first place.
I have found that keeping the sensitivity at low values, one (1) for me, helps keep that annoying understeer vibration down to a minimum.

I use max torque 1, sensitivity 1.
 
I've just gone back to PS4 mode and tried Oshaw-Joe's recommended settings (torque 3, sensitivity 2) but for me the vibration is still dreadful.
With so many users reporting no problems at all, and with others sufficiently affected that two separate threads are dedicated to 'the problem', I wonder if it's possible that it's something that affects only some T300s?
Whatever the answer, from a purely personal perspective using my wheel in PS3 mode is a huge improvement, so I guess I'll stick with that. The only slight drawback is that I will have to use a normal controller for some menu choices, but I don't see that as a big deal. Certainly I won't miss any 'detail' supposedly provided when he wheel is in PS4 mode. The only additional detail I get is the judder!

What combo and tire grade is giving you the most "judder" effect? I'd like to test that.

I'm very grateful for your offer to test it out for me, but I'm not sure you can help as there is no particular combo or tyre grade that gives me noticeably more or less judder; it's there all the time.
Thinking about it, that's not quite true. Dirt tracks don't give me any problem at all!
I'd love to be able to demonstrate it to you. Maybe when you're on a visit to the UK... :lol:
 
It's taking me some effort to put my wheel in jutter mode, and it only lasts as long as I dont correct what the car is doing by letting off the accelerator slightly. Have you confirmed to be using the latest firmware for the T300? Perhaps try updating again. I recall on a few occasions over the years that I needed to update twice as I was messing up the process somehow.

If you can make a video so we can see if there is something unusual.
From my experience with T300/GTS the vibration is neither strong nor noisy, unlike CSL Elite. With CSL Elite due to the higher torque, a more direct driving mechanism and a slight play in this mechanism the vibrations are quite strong and noisy, of course this can be reduced with the wheel settings.

It doesn't take me any effort at all to induce judder. It's pretty well every corner, both going into it and even when accelerating out.
I could try updating the firmware, but I'm reluctant to do so. Last time I did it the wheel 'died' and I had to send it to France for repair!
It does seem a shame not to be able to use the wheel in 'native' PS4 mode, but it's working well enough in PS3 mode that I can live with it.

I'm very grateful for all the offers of assistance. If I had the ability to make a video (being an old geezer, I probably don't!) I'm not sure it would help. The problem is really a 'sensory' experience rather than an obviously visible one.
I think the only answer is "all round to my place"! :cheers:
