I'm about to upgrade from a DFGT to a T500RS. I'd like to give SHIFT 2 another shot, so any advice on the best settings would be much appreciated. :)

You will be on the PC of course? I think I had to set my wheel to bout 450 deg in the driver panel to matchup to the ingame steering wheel. I never got 900 deg to match up

Havent played Shift 2 for awhile I kind of miss it

Na, PS3. All the horrible input lag put me off last year, I really like the tracks and cars in the game, tho. :)

Will try your settings, cheers. :)

Tried to make it work but it's just not possible to keep the car on track. It's a shame, SHIFT2 is (to me) the perfect racing game, both track and car-wise (...minus the input lag, of course). Yet, my wheel doesn't work with it and my old wheel (DFGT) has so much input lag. Sad day.

I'm sad to hear that. But in stead of backing off, give this game more time. Try to find best solution for you. Even for me sometimes steering is a big issue when I do find the right setup then game always rewards me :)

Well, I use a DFGT and I have never had any of this so-called input lag ... AT ALL! I can't understand what people are complaining about! To me the game handles perfectly. What settings are you using?

Well, not much I can do unless I begin using my DFGT again. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to race with GT1 cars but I won't exchange wheels all the time. The T500RS is being recognised as a standard six-axis PS3 controller. I had the F1 rim on at the time but I doubt installing the GT rim would change anything since it's the same base unit.

I don't even remember tbh. But there you go. It's about 0.5 seconds - way too much to drive precisely, sadly.

I really love the SHIFT2 setting but well...

Wierd. When I sit on the grid like in that video I get exactly the same delay. However, when I race I feel no lag at all. :grumpy:

@ Mr. S

Try something for me. The settings below are the ones I use for my GT wheel. Put them in EXACTLY as listed and try a few races to see how you get on.

You have nothing to lose.

FFB Strength = 75%
Steering DZ = 0%
Steering Sensitivity = 35%
Throttle DZ = 0%
Break DZ = 0%
Break Sensitivity = 60%
Speed Sensitivity = 70%
Steering Lock = 360' (default)

Let me know how you get on.

Right, will do. It's difficult since the wheel is being recognized as DS3 pad. Anyway, I wasn't sure which option did what (anymore) and changed steering DZ to 5 and steering sensitivity to 30. Ah well, I'll give our settings a go.

Which wheel are you using exactly? Does it show up as DS3 pad as well?

I am using a Logitech GT and mine is immediately recognised correctly, no problem. Good luck.

Really can't make it work, the car is either all over the track or doesn't steer in properly. Anyway...might play around with all the settings sooner or later but stay away from the game for now. Thanks for your help.

Basically its only marketing related, as it is an officially licensed GT5 product.

The consequences in terms of setup impossibilities are
_ not recognised by SHIFT II (not native as the G27) therefore handled
like a six-axis-pad
_ pad-control is a bidirectional straight 1" movement from left to right
while the T500RS has a 1080° steering.
_ no reproduceable scale to translate a 1" flipping to 1080° circular
movement, causing delayed response as 1 of the issues
_ forcefeedback not given. no matter how fast or slow you drive opposing
constantly the same power.

Well, I guess this is already more than enough to compomise any driving experience in terms of realism and driving physics.
I've tried it on different classes of cars, C to A to Stock to Works from retro to modern, and as I have said, not scalable. Remaining very approximate in driving, you can't push the cars to their respective limits as you'll be unable to deliver their proper driving styles .

By the way, have you noticed, as a owner of a T500RS, that you miss the steering lock value (1080° 720° 360°) as recommended by other users?
It's just not there (six-axes-pad-emulation)

I might be wrong, but as far the T500RS is concerned, you won't be able to set it up properly.
It's just not worth the effort.

cheers

Yeah, indeed - but I guess that's because the pad wouldn't have a steering lock, uh?

Anyway, thanks for your post - exactly what I thought. :)

Your very welcome.
Maybe we can meet sometime on GT5, where our wheels work perfectly.

:)

Mr. S
What wheel did you use for my settings? They were meant for the GT wheel.

I know, I didn't use the F1 rim, no worries. :)

Keep in mind, my wheel is being detected as PS3 pad (six-axis), so it's almost impossible to set it up. :/

If you can't get any settings you like and the wheel isn't being recognised properly it really sounds like there must be something wrong with your system or something. :indiff:

I feel sorry for you because shift 2 is a great game.

Well, Shift2 doesn't naturally support the T500RS. Like I said before, the wheel doesn't work with it, which is a shame. Well, bad luck. :)

Thanks for all your help buddy!

did you try changing the "mode" of the wheel. to change the t500 sensitivity. Press the dpad and the l3 and r3 buttons all at once. when the light starts to blink.. give it another try.
