I bought a t500rs from eBay which ended up costing me under £225. Its a prototype model and the seller said the pedals are fixed in position. The d pad buttons are bland so its just a circle too.

The wheel appears to be in good condition and if I want to sell I can make a profit.

I plugged it in, substantially larger than the g27 so I thought it'd show in GT6. The thing is, its nothing like that.

What's the catch? Have I missed some settings I should have changed after unplugging the g27?

Taz

No settings needed, just make sure you have simulation steering set and FFB is set reasonably (I find 4 is plenty for almost all car types).

Forces are smoother and far more powerful than the G27 wheel, but it's easy to set FFB too high and just feel wheel weight. Set it lower and you get lots of nuances but the wheel spins fast when it needs to.

It's a prototype? That is pretty interesting, I'd like more information about that.

When I went from a G27 to a T500 the difference was quite noticeable, specifically in the wheel centering area, the G27 had that weird center bounce at high speeds thing going on that the T500 doesn't, and of course, more FFB power, but I I dialed mine down somewhat. I'm wondering if your T500 might not be working correctly?

Same. I went from the same combo. And was immediately blown away by how much smoother it was. And just stable. With my G27, it was always a hair raising proposition to drive on the outside of the track with the G27. I was always a moment from slipping on the grass. With the T500, it's as stable as a real car and no fears about driving on the outside portions of the road.

I too would love to see a picture. Prototype? Sounds weird. I need to see a picture of it.

Even at 10 ffb I get no real feel through the wheel and have to turn the wheel almost full lock to have it snap back a bit, but hardly anything at all.

How do I test if it's broken?

Came out of GT6 and the wheel is a lot stiffer. It has to be a setting in gran turismo that I've missed, surely

Hmm, did you buy it from someone reputable? Perhaps all is not as it should be.

From eBay, seller has plenty of feedback. He put collection only but allowed me to arrange pick up and even took the wheel on the tube for me.

I went from a G25 to a T500 and I was definitely overwhelmed. I literally played the whole day lol. Maybe the prototype is different than the normal T500 and you're not getting some things that the rest of are is getting.
the whole FEEL of the wheel is supposed to be a lot better.

but as others have mentioned go to your wheel settings and turn your feedback to a 6-7 (or however much you're comfortable with. 1 being loose, 10 being super stiff) and also make sure to turn on Simulation.

Super stiff doesn't seem to be the case here! :(

Sounds like you got some crap version. You said prototype. Which to means early version and anyone guess what motors are in it.

Have you tried updating the firmware.

Think I agree with you. Don't have near as much confidence as I did with the G27. I can't even feel the wheels come lose :/

And no I haven't. Going to contact the seller and see what he says

yeah bro something is definitely up with the wheel. I can't really drive anything with a car on 10 stiffness... it's just too unrealistic for my personal taste

How much did you all pay for your wheel? £225 is where it got me but I can get a brand new one for £310 on dabs.com

Any better prices? Might just sell this one on or contact thrustmaster

If contact Thrustmaster and see what they say. They might take care of you. Big might.

You really ought to add ebay-purchased "prototype" to your thread title...
...kind of puts things into a little better context...

You did not mention what you use the T500 for. I use iRacings service and the T500 is a very stout wheel. It has the best FFB I have ever used. I also have a GT3 Porsche, had an Fanatec Elite, had a G27 and neither of these wheels could touch the T500. The best wheel I have used. Also I replaced the steering wheel and replaced it with a Sam Maxwell Momo Mod 26C.

I contacted Thrustmaster and the guy on the phone said the wheels will be identical inside?

You bought a T500 prototype from ebay, aka T500 potato.

Go get your money back.

The seller stated it was a proto model, but I could still sell it on for more than I paid.

Gran Turismo mainly. The wheel has never had a firmware update, but when I plug it in the download of the firmware fails. I think if I can get it updated then I'll be able to tell whether the problems really lie with the wheel or something else

Man if you are even doubting the greatness of the T500 it is clearly a broken potato wheel.

The wheel has never been updated, it is on fw 0. Even launch models will have a later firmware. It won't even know what gran turismo 6 is! I'll try on gt5 to see if its any different

Update it with a PC, I have updated my firmware and drivers for mine many times. I own 2 T500's and both have had no problems. Look underneath your T500, on the bottom, what version is it? Sumting sounds fishy here!

Force feedback: crap
Update: can't
seller: non authorized dealer (probably knockoff t500)
ebay prototype: potato

While I really do feel sorry for the guy... It makes me chuckle every time you call it a potato. :)

Taz1579... Take a photo of the bottom of the wheel please, and post it here. You can attach the image right to the post so the process is simple.

Feel sorry for me? I might be 18 but I know how to avoid a dud deal :)

Plugged into Gran Turismo 5 and it's a wheel transformed, there isn't a problem with the wheel.

I'll get a photo taken. But I need some help troubleshooting the update program as it really doesn't want to do anything for me. It picks the wheel up, but when I got into properties I get a common shell dll error (tried googling), and when I try update the wheel it can't pick the file from the server.

I believe they should be on now
