This game has officially sucked me in...Opened it at 6:00 last night and haven't stopped playing. I started spending money on my little '97 Civic R and after opening up the professional class races and decided to try it in the super car challenge.
My first try on High Speed Ring Reverse I managed to squeak out a victory, though it took a couple "iffy" moves on my part and one bit of awesome blocking on the main straight when I had to hold off a 458 and two Vipers.
Then it was time to move to Daytona. The AI driver's on this course are a bunch of homicidal maniacs if you ask me; in order to even compete I've had to completely lower my downforce settings and every time the clober my rear end with one of their $300,000 exotics I get sent into Darth Vader's Tie-Fighter Spin and have to restart. I've been going at it for around an hour now and have managed to avoid being brutally murdered by the AI about 5 times, the best of which was a fourth place finish; However, I've finally upgraded my engine tuning to the third level and my civic is now sitting at 394hp so it is time to go try again. I'm still running on sport soft tires, and hopefully I will not have to resort to putting Racing tires on to win this race.

They have now resorted to actually trying to kill me, multiple rollover attack!! I'll get videos up soon.
...
Just finished it again, holding second place behind the Mclaren F1 all the way until the last corner when a GTR and a Vette decided to eat my rear fenders and kick me down the field until I finished 8th. It's quite an amusing replay.
On a positive note I beat the Veyron by four places. . .in a 13 year old hatchback Gran Turismo makes me so happy.
...
Finally found a field that was giving me chance...kind of. I was getting good drafts and running in the top of the field by the second corner, but they would inevitably let me get in front (where I don't have the power to maintain 200mph) and then careen up behind me and pit me into the wall. I really do think I'm racing with 11 very rich racquet ball players who think my little hatchback is their toy.
My last try ended with me edging out 2 zonda's and a ford gt and holding them off for 2 corners with me in the lead, only to have a stock Z06 stick his tongue out right before the finish line and leave my poor smoking ruined car in second. I suppose second is better than fourth.
One more place to go!!

Actually I already have three videos of this sado-masochistic exotic meat grinder I keep putting my poor little civic through, just ran 6 more times, found another field that I liked, had a murcielago, a countach, and an xj220 as the leaders, the first time out I pass them by the second corner and the car starts slowing down.
I'm really not liking the inability to change specific gear ratios, if I could stretch them like I'm suppossed to be able to do then this wouldn't be a problem.
Of course, it wouldn't make a good story if I just raced the race and won it.
So the two Lambo's come up behind me, and I'm bouncing back and forth trying to block both of them as well as making them give me some momentum. . .this countinue's around the track 2 more times, with the entire field backed up behind me. Final corner. . .I'm thinking maybe this is it, maybe it's my time!. . .Sadly, twas not to be as a mustard yellow elongated/smooshed beetle (sometimes known as the cars formerly known as Porsche's gets out and shoots past me. . .oh well at least I'll get 12,500 for second, I mean I'm right at the line, until the Countach taps my bumber and Vader's me again sending me spinning out across 'DAYTONA' written in the grass, and I come away with. . .8th.
5 more tries and each went pretty much like that one, I managed to get passed them, ( when 'them' include F1's, Veyron's, and Zonda's, and "I" means a ratted out 13 year old civic (of course 'ratted out' translates into I've have purchased everything that there is to purchase for this little beater)) that's no small feat, but everytime it just takes one little bump and my lack of downforce sends me careening off into the land of rv's and golf carts otherwise known as the infield.
I ran the 7th one backwards just to let out some frustration, it's quite amusing how badly you can crunch a civic when your throwing VW Nardo's against it in 4000mph collisions Off to smoke a smoke, then to try try try again.

I realized at 8:30 or so this morning that it was in fact 8:30 in the morning or so and I had been playing for 14 hours straight; girlfriend had come and gone, many many miles were put on the civic and yet victory was still .030 seconds away. The controller was put down and four hours of sleep were achieved...but I didn't get a trophy...
When 12:00 came back around I heard something calling my name; and it was, in fact, this race still begging to be won. I hopped back in the car and hit the gas again, fiddling with settings here, and downforce there, and yet I still can not seem to accomplish anything greater than finishing slightly behind the winner's headlights. When I finish that is. My opponents have grown weary of seeing my little white pebble attempting to slingshot it's way through the bullets that are their cars and have grown even more abusive. If I'm in first they like to spin me out or activate their newest pasttime... rolling me down the track. When o when can I have modifiable transmission ratios, I have purchased every piece of go fast I can buy, I'm now running racing soft tires, and yet I still can not seem to stay in front of these obnoxious civic-bashers in their over-priced, over-engineered, compensation-mobiles. When is gonna be my time, when lord when!
...
Now is my time!!
It only took 16 hours!! I edged out an Enzo by .002 seconds with a Corvette, and a Scuderia all within a tenth of a second. Woooo!! There are too many things about this game to love, I don't understand why everyone seems to want to complain. They took away NOS this made it challenging
They don't have engine swaps...boo hoo...who cares --- I just stomped 11 supercars with a humble little civic, and it was probably my most rewarding gt experience ever. Even more so than finally getting that Gold on GT4 Super License for the 'ring
Beating the Enzo by .002!

The final race of the Festival proved to be all about late braking the first corner passing everyone up and blocking to hold off the VW Nardo and a Zonda the entire race, it's a nice video though.
