I cant start a new thread so ill post here seeing as my post is related to honda civic type R.

Why is there no Vtec Come on polyphony digital. how is this a real driving simulator No vtec pop in type R is downright shameful. Mine as well take the vtec off all the cars and put ZC edition. Why is there no brake upgrades to be found. You can tune a ECU and cant control where vtec comes in cause vtec is non exsistant. I really enjoy the game but i thought you guys were about details. Reminds me of people driving around with vtec stickers on there car and they dont have it.

All these games out to date and still not ONE that has vtec in any kind of way... I should make a sim and call it Vtec furry...

This is not directed at any of you guys in this post i just couldnt create a post at all to direct this to polyphony digital.

Oh btw here what a civic type r turbo really sounds like

Now if they just had a premium Integra Type R DC2...

COME ON PD, I will buy a (another) PS3 and GT5 if you include that car as premium!

Cant wait to see the videos, you have inspired me to keep with my little civic a bit longer.

I cant help but feel your a little sadistic though. :)

Sounds good I also love modding less powerful cars and beating monsters ;), I have a 415 bhp evo IX which is a monster itsself, the good news is from a standstill to about 90 mph it can out accelerate anything :D, bad news is its top speed is 148 mph :(

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It only took 16 hours!! I edged out an Enzo by .002 seconds with a Corvette, and a Scuderia all within a tenth of a second. Woooo!! There are too many things about this game to love, I don't understand why everyone seems to want to complain. They took away NOS this made it challenging :) They don't have engine swaps...boo hoo...who cares --- I just stomped 11 supercars with a humble little civic, and it was probably my most rewarding gt experience ever. Even more so than finally getting that Gold on GT4 Super License for the 'ring

This is how I played GT1... modding up my cars so even the weakest car could take down the beast machines. I remember winning the Turbo Race versus 900 HP Supra's, GTOs, RX-7s, etc, using an old Subaru Wagon. However I also try to win the races with the least, for example the old Normal Race with a stock Mitsubishi Eclipse (a car I owned in RL at the time) versus stock a Supra and NSX. Good times, good times.

Anyone driven the CRX SiR? I was looking to get a '98 Civic EK when I came across this one, for 10k less. Best decision ever. With just 5k worth of upgrades I was easily beating FTOs and '03 Civc R's with out a problem.

This is a story I will have to tell my grandchildren the story of the little Civic fighting against the Lamborghini :D

Hahaha that's funny but I don't know why you would try. I know I was actually kinda pissed to see the same starter cars for GTlife. I went out of my way to not pick that Civic. I think it was the car I started with in GT4 too. But I guess there is a sense of accomplishment in tuning a car like that to get it to go up against super cars.

I've done everything I can to my '97 Type-R, minus a turbo, and I adore the damn thing. Absolutely nothing at all happens below 7 grand, and while most people would consider that to be a problem, I find a certain joy in having to keep it in the "sounds like 10 million angry bees" zone. It's probably my favorite thing about the car. Too bad my B-Spec driver doesn't feel the same way, since he drives it like he's trying to save gas.

I got my B-Spec driver to try it on Autumn Ring, wasn't even finished in terms of upgrade, and he couldn't keep it on the track.

This is great!👍

That little Civic looks so out of place next to those supercars.

Watching the video you posted I noticed that some of those accidents were caused by you clipping your rear end on the front bumper of the car behind you causing you to spin like that. However if I saw a little angry Civic flying around the track I'd just as soon get out of the way. :scared:

The all new 1997 Honda Civic - Overcoming aerodynamic insufficiency with raw powah!

Yes it is the premium civic from the dealership.. Also alot of the accidents were caused by me, alot of them however were not. I still have about 10 more videos of this escapade left to put up. The car gets quite difficult to control when you have no downforce and are going 205mph around a banked corner. :) Thanks for all the positives glad I brightened some days. I'll put more videos up tomorrow including the winning one.

Fun with "vadering"..

I've just played around with the course maker (mt. aso themed). Wanted to race the result with my Civic R (160 hp at that time), gullible to think that I would get opponents with comparable cars. No, the grid was fully packed with just exact these "exotics" and "giants". The Civic really looked totally out of place in that grid :D

Ok, gave it a shot. On the long straights I didn't had the slightest chance. But, oh! They were going very slow in the corners, leaving outer and inner lines driveable for the civic :) I got ahead some positions until the next long straight. I didn't even try to block them. I just went aside, letting nearly everybody pass.
But I laughed tears, when nearly the whole pack "vadered" itself away in a really, really obnoxious looong corner. Due to some massive clouds of dust in that area, I had slight problems seeing the road :D 3rd position after passing the clouds..
Finished that run second place right behind a GTR '07. Couldn't catch up with it on my long straight to start/finish.

Decided to apply some decent tuning and retry the course, to win against the pack. The Civic then had about 190 to 200 hp. Guess what? The AI still vadered itself away on the same spot. As my Civic was faster to some extent than before, I even had to lift the gas in that corner. Managed to finish first on that run.

So, if you want a good laugh with your Civic, take it to a self made course ;)

Just finished it again, holding second place behind the Mclaren F1 all the way until the last corner when a GTR and a Vette decided to eat my rear fenders and kick me down the field until I finished 8th. It's quite an amusing replay.

On a positive note I beat the Veyron by four places. . .in a 13 year old hatchback :) Gran Turismo makes me so happy.

Fantastic story (your main post)... this is what I mean when I say True GT-blood ... thanks man! .... hope every spoiled critic / reviewer reads this ... and then feels the heat ...👍👍👍👍

(my first GT buy was a Prelude in the past ... now I had to buy a Civic type R (<20k) .. just like the old days about 12 years ago ... fantastic!)

yeah but what you dont understand is vtec advances the timing increases horse power and tourqe.. noone understands Vtec until they actually drive a real vtec motor its not just a noise its a boost in tourqe and horse power which is not in GT5 at the moment. Go drive a DOHC vtec car then youll get it. Its like a Turbo is turned on in the car....

Well the civic wasn't my starter car, I've got the collector's edition, so it came with those five and then I bought a couple of other cars and just started tuning the civic and raced it. Making a race exciting is what it is all about, instead of just using overpowered cars on every race, striving to let the little guys come out on top....I'll have the winning video up in little bit.

congratulations!

I've tried it myself, my civic was raised to about 404 hp if memory serves me right. I was running on racing tires and had a lucky starting grid. Managed to get behind the leading McLaren F1 and tried to overtake it on the counterstraight in the last lap. Guess what? It wasn't possible to pass it. Got back behind it and drafted like hell. Imagine a Civic running 346 km/h (about 215 mp/h), just sick ;)
Got my chance to overtake the McLaren in the last corner as it was braking, kept blocking it on the straight and the win was mine.

It is possible to win the super cars daytona race with a '97 Civic. Thank you Vander for your nice writeup and inspiring me to try it myself. That's the spirit, thumbs up!

It really takes holding the lead car's draft until the last corner then blocking their attempts to pass you while not getting taken out. Interestingly I could only get my Civic to 401 and about 211mph, with oil changes and everything.

Winning video link was incorrect, it is now fixed if you guys want to take a look at the win by .002 seconds

checked my replay. I was quite confident that i reached 346 km/h once while drafting a saleen. Haven't seen that on my two replays which I have saved for that race.
Although, I've seen 344 km/h in my replays. That should be almost 214 mp/h (213.75). I'm quite sure this was only a breeze away from the rev limiter..
The difference to your top speed could be unit-wise. I guess you're only able to tune your gear in steps of 10 mph?
I was able to change my gear in steps of 10 kmh, which is a bit more finer. Thus allowing it to squeeze out the last few miles (or kilometers for me ;) ) top speed.

Oh yes, I exaggerated with my Civics hp. It's enginge produces 284 kw power, which should be 386 hp. Really thought it had 297 kw, which would have been 404 hp.

Btw, if you already reached a-spec level 17, take your Civic to the Turbo Challenge in the expert series and go for the first race. Three Laps on High-Speed Ring. I'm Racing it in about 3:42 Minutes and earning 36.000 Credits for the really easy win which is almost a gift with that Civic. Didn't find a better cash-cow so far at level 17..
