Talking to yourself during races

I usually don't talk to myself, but I do hold my breath and forget to blink. On GT4 it was really painful to not blink for 4-5 minutes whilst lapping the Nordschliefe, so i'm dreading doing the same in GT5! :nervous:

Ha ha..:lol: heard of that, norwegian rally driver Henning Solberg also do that, he could stop blinking in 15 min :dunce:

I usually just curse to myself (or towards others), especially if I'm really annoyed. If someone annoys me too much I just leave to stop my frustration esculating beyond control... but if I'm really dedicated on catching someone I'm completely silent. If I talk in any way I lose concerntration. Occasionally if I know I've done well I say what I did outloud (i.e. passing someone on a difficult corner without touching them, or a nice drift).

And silent on a good lap due to the fact I tend to literally hold my breath on a good lap (dreading the addition of Nurburgring - I may need to learn to breath through my ears)

try to relax. on the straights. (not when you catching someones slipstream and wanna overtake)
if you using a wheel there is alot if tension on the leg musculs and automaticly on your back. lay your feet on the trotthle and take off the tension of the musculs and relax your body,take some deep breaths (blink your eyes :lol:). and get back in your racing position just before you brake.

Usually im pretty quiet when driving, unless some jerk punts me off, then ill swear or say something. Also when i stuff up and have an accident ill mutter something to myself. Most of the time though im just thinking about driving smoothly, being careful when in close battles, trying to relax my legs and back so they dont tire out & so on. I do have a habit of jinxing myself though. Ill be driving along & for example come up to degner at suzuka & think to myself, ok don't stuff up, make sure you hit the apex just right or else you'll go off & of course then ill miss the apex and go straight off :p

also i have to gear playing when ever i drive, and match up the cars with the ones jeremy, stig, hamster or james is driving..

they talk for me. haha

The only time I'm vocal is while telling other drivers what to do/cursing at them for running into me...
The only time I berate myself (internally, sans words) is when I tell other drivers what to do/curse at them.
Beating myself up for mistakes does nothing but make me lose concentration, so the quicker I get over an incident, the more focus I'll have and the faster I'll be.

I occasionally say COME ON :dopey: when overtaking or pulling through to the finish line in a tight race!

Other then that everything consists of the "F" word lol.

One of my main ones is

"How much Expletive removed by moderator faster can they be" is probably what i say most haha :indiff:

i figured the mods were working a shift pattern keeping watch on this little topic.

when i go off, a little accidental four letter swear word pops outs
if im punted off a long more intentional use of swear words comes forth

and also a lot of swearing.

example:
when i was driving, someone in a blue renualt clio punted me.
A while later i passed him (on the final stretch)
And i said: some bad words
:guilty:at that time i was really anoyed because there was lots of punters out there
so that's why.

I thought oversteering was the whole point of drifting! ;)

Lots of people posting the stuff they say in reaction (usually swearing, sorry mods!), but there don't seem to be as many with things they say to themselves proactively to improve technique and keep in the right frame of mind. I find repeating my mantras really helps with consistency and thus speed. If I just drive I'm almost a second a lap slower and come off the track a lot more than when I am really concentrating and constantly reminding myself to do the right things. Going fast in a race car isn't intuitive to me, I naturally try to do stuff that feels fast - braking late, squealing tyres, hanging the back end out - but doing all that may feel fast, but it's generally slower than keeping things fully under control and on the perfect line.
 
search for "angry german kid" in youtube, a video which i will not post here because of very extensive swearing. That is an example of what goes in my mind while playing online, but just inside my head, im really quiet while racing

hi! i want to appologise for my recent comment i posted here.
i said some bad words,(according to me bad words with an * in it doesen't count as a bad word.)you know what i mean.:)
 
Usually quiet, but when I get smashed for the 3rd time in the same race I will yell "Are you 🤬 KIDDING me?!"
