Using the same suspension and LSD setup, but with widebody and 18 inch wheels with both offsets. The car still understeers very much in the Nürburgring 24 (it becomes chronic with minimum ride height, with added wheelspin in all gears). What exactly is causing this?

I’m not getting that with the suspension set up. I have the ELANTRA with widebody on 18” wheels. There’s only standard offset, and I get no rubbing or wheel spin in all gears. The Hyundai feels like the Mazda3 Gr.4, in terms of putting the power to the ground.
Haven’t had a problem in the Custom Races I posted.

Just did a quick run.

Showing the car's behaviour.

I tried with normal rim width (i was using wide wheels), the handling improved vastly, and the car hit 270+ in the straightaway and still had some in the 6th gear, it looks like the problem was on the rim width alone. This setup, with the power/weight/aero/gearbox setup i used, is very much able to do the N24h lap under 9 minutes when driven by the proper hands

@05XR8 Thanks for sharing the Elantra tune. I used your suspension and gearing/lsd set-up. Non-widebody. Works real well for me! This car is pretty fun.

Yeah, unfortunately I've had to change many of my cars from the wide wheels. Love the look, but it's compromised some of my cars.

You're welcome. I just set cars up like a default Gr.4 and players adjust from there. Not to be silly, but I try not to give myself the advantage with perfect set ups. Helps me keep things as even as possible versus the AI.

With my Elantra tune, I just immediately raised the suspension to over 130mm (as it is generally recommended from a lot of top tuners). I almost never use the wide tire option (the look is VERY specific and only suits a certain "style" of vehicle IMHO), so I'm unlikely to run into that issue unless I'm building a certain style of "tuner" car.

I'll have to try lowering it a bit to see where the actual cutoff is (when it starts to rub), as I would definitely like it to be a bit lower if I can get away with it. It handles beautifully ATM, so I don't want to mess with it too much. Our tunes are quite a bit different overall. I'll have to buy another Elantra and give your tune a go. It should make for an interesting comparison.

The ride height is the default from the fully customisable suspension. I did lower the rear to 110mm of one of my Elantras. No problem with that one either.
I'm aware. I'm just also aware of the multitude of people swearing that you need to raise the ride height or it will rub. I'm literally about to jump into GT7, and I plan to run the Elantra through it's paces and do some testing. I'm not saying your wrong, in fact I'm starting to think you might be onto something. Either way, I'll know in about 10 minutes or so.

EDIT: Ok, so I have now run my setup with both ride heights (yours and the original with 130mm - 140mm). As long as you have enough spring rate to support it (I'm running 270 - 290) a ride height of 110mm works just fine. I didn't notice any rubbing, and even managed to improve my time around Watkins Glen. So, I have compromised a little bit, just to make sure there is ZERO chance of rubbing, and gone with 115mm - 125mm.

To conclude, for anyone worried about fender rubbing, don't. Not unless you lower it from the stock settings (Racing Suspension = 110mm - 120mm) and/or you're running a low spring/shock combo.
