TCS and AMS Problems

Okay well I was with my buddy and we were playing 2-player battle.. I loaded up my garage cars, we both picked my tuned Buick GNX, and after the game started up we were like "WTF?" traction control is off, I don't know how it got like that.

So we went to the settings and sure enough it was off..

Wen't back to 2-player and it STILL DID NOT WORK. Okay, so I thought I forgot to hit "X" instead of "Triangle".

Tried again with X.

Still, no luck.

I went into Gran Turismo Mode to change the settings there, TCS and AMS were both on.

Went back to 2-player... Still, it was off.

By now I was and still am pretty P.O.ed :grumpy:.

It seems as if everytime I switch the two options on (TCS and AMS) and pick a garage car they automatically switch off during 2 player battle.

When I play with stock cars the problem is not there.. Only Garage Cars.

But all my Garage Cars have TCS and AMS on in GT Mode, so any solutions?



Okay again, everytime I load a garage car in 2 player battle it switches TCS and AMS automatically, but it does not do it with the stock cars.

same problem...i'm starting to think that loading the cars from your memory sticks doesn't actually load the settings you tuned in gran turismo mode??? The only cars i have that DONT brake traction are my 4wd cars. My cars also handle much differently in versus than in gt mode......
 
i seriously doubt there is NO traction control on built up high horsepower beasts in real life. they would be useless. (i'm assuming, as the only expreience i have with them is in gt4) if not, the throttle responce to wheel spin raitio can't be right in gt4. you gan be as gentle as you want on the throttle but once your car gets into the higher levels of horsepower the wheels are gonna spin and i'll beat you every time with a moderate amount of tcs on my ride. the key is to find the right amount so that it doesn't limit your power too much, but still makes the car race-able. to say every car should have 0 TCS is wrong.
 
Yea I ran into this problem a few days ago, when I was playing with my sister. We just "delt" with it, she has said she likes it better now that its off. the cars feel looser and more realistic.

Wow, I guess everybody is having the same problem.

I know there's those hardcores out there, "TCS and AMS are for wimps" well.. I just find it hard to control the car. I when I enter the turn the rear of my car always slides out and most of the time making it extremely hard to exit a turn without ending up sideways into a wall. :grumpy:
 
Since they're your garage cars you have to have ASM and TCS equpped for that car in your garage.

In real life cars don't immediately go to WOT as soon as you tap the throttle so there is some control. TCS is available for cars with some standalone ECU's like AEM, MoTec, Autronic, etc.. The best system available is made by Racelogic and it actually makes cars super driveable like the TCS in GT3/GT4 -- thats what Gran Turismo's TCS is modeled after. Supra and Viper owners describe it as being able to point and shot and being able to drive faster in the rain with it than on tha dry roads without it. :)

I agree with the erst of the post, some cars benefit from TCS, however there are some very high performance cars with no TCS or ABS or other driving aids, take the TVR Speed 12 for example, no ABS, TCS airbags even and that had over 960Bhp.

thats what i'm saying, to leave it on 0 TCS for all cars in gt4 is foolish. i usualy put it at 5/10 then adjust acordingly for the higher and lower horsepower cars.

ASM doesn't seem as necesary, but it does help
 
I've always found ASM to be a hinderance to my lap times in GT3 tbh, I've not had it on in GT4 either so unless they've improved it I wouldn't recommend it. TCS at 5 is a bit high for my liking also but each to their own. I usually only have it at 1,2 or 3.
 
Why do you need TC or ASM?? This is the first thing i switch completely off after buying car.And i hate to do it everytime i get new car :( They could make this (TC and ASM OFF) available by default in options menu or smth....
 
You don't need it, however on some caras it can improve your lap times. Do you think the guys who set all the record laps for GT3 used 0 TCS?

Yes.

except 1000hp+ rwd cars maybe.


And still real pros can go faster without tc even here
 
Thats not what I've heared or experienced, a small ammount of TCS on a powerful car is beneficial in some cases.
 
i do have them equipped with tcs and asm in garage mode...its just WHEN i play 2player both of these things shut off. Basically in gt mode...my tires dont spin...in 2player mode my tires just spin n spin n spin....sucks
 
And you ahve them equpt specifically for the cars your using from your garage? If so then it's an ommision by PD.

yup....i noticed the loss of traction in 2player...went back to gt mode...checked the settings on my rx7....i set tcs all the way to 7 just as a test....went back to 2player...same thing. arggghhh i can't believe they left out something as little as this
 
Does it get all the other settings right too? I've only used 2 player in the Japanese version and you can't use garage cars in that.

I know.. I'll drive my modded 300C and it will spin the wheels all they way up to 90 MPH. If you try to turn you'll spin around in circles, it's ridiculous.
 
is the gameplay with let's say a light 675hp TVR tuscan speed six is good enough to play without TCS-ASM was kinda hard in GT3 :/ I had to use a slight TCS-ASM to be able to drive this thing in GT3.
I'm powersliding in 4th gear :/ didn't tune the car that good I know...

I was just wondering if the left-right movements where better with a joypad in GT4 , in GT3 I found they were not precise enough to play with oversteering-monsters.
 
I have encountered this also. I wanted to show up my buddy by beating his GT-R with my FD and at the start my wheels just spun and spun and I lost it around a few corners. It works fine for me in GT mode though.
 
This is making me mad also. I always generally like to use TCS level 1 or at least on high power front drive cars like the Focus RS and there's no way with sports tires you can control the throttle too good without TCS on a 415+ hp front drive car. It's BS. Basically TCS is not for wimps that's the lamest thing I've ever heard since the sound of a Civic with a fart cannon. I mean I raced a friend with the RS and tried and tried to get traction with part throttle but the turbo spooling adds a whole new dimension to where the throttle needs to be, in fact it's so dynamic you have to be stupid to think you're skilled enough to drive it faster without TCS. Not to mention nitrous becomes useless.

Most cars I can deal without TCS but I don't care who you are you have to admit some high power cars need some TCS, especially the ones with an open differential, and especially front wheel drive.

ASM however is actually pretty silly in my opinion.
