Would it help if I performed that brake pedal mod for Driving Force Pro?
The one with the 18 inch bungee cord?

with TC off its more fun and more challenging - so dont switch it on (your slower with TC on)

I'm currently using the bungee cord on the brake pedal and it is somewhat helpfull. Ran a long time without it and was able to brake well enough though. I'm actually thinking about using that mod on the accelerator too to see if it helps when driving on wet track.

How much did it help?
And what do you need for the Accelerator Mod?

Was thinking of using the same bungee mod on the accelerator i mean. The stiffer pedal is good when driving for long distances as trying to modulate the brakes (and accelerator) with toe feeling alone can be tiring. I'm using DFP and the pedals are quite flimsy on their own (DFGT apparently have the same pedals).

The same 18 inch?

I saw some bloke say he but sponges under the pedals to make it easier to hold a steady amount of brake and throttle. I just use a controller so i haven't tried this myself but i thought it sounded like a great idea

why you guys say all aids off but ABS 1?

steering force
is realistic to have on.

on my g25 with it off it doesn't centre when drifting.

In real life your wheels turns with the rolling force of the ground.

Having this option off is more unrealistic.

All aids off
Steering force on
ABS 1

(steering force off is like having rod-ends too tight on your steering linkages on a REAL CAR disabling the cars ability steering to self centre)

when you come out of a turn IN REAL LIFE. and then let go of your wheel. it should try to return to centre as you straighten out. if not somethings not right i.e turning this option off.

anyone understand me?

if your using a controller this cannot be felt. i use G25

Because it's easier to say that all aids are off but ABS 1 than saying TCS OFF, ABS 1, Skid Recovery Force OFF etc.
That statement basically means "I have all aids off EXCEPT ABS which I have left on 1".

but steering force (which you didn't mention in quote above) is considered to be an "AID" , "AIDS" which are "on" are thought to be "less" realistic.

My point is when people say

"All aids off but TCS1" they should say "all aids off but steering force and TCS"

cause with a G25 its like saying "All aids off, TCS 1, and heres a spanner , over tighten your steering linkages and act cool"

Steering Force comes under the Aids menu, and by saying all aids off also mean Steering Force is off.
I didn't mention in the quote because I was explaining a certain bit of it.

so you think its more realistic to turn steering force off?

so you think its more realistic to turn steering force off?

I didn't say that.
I just turn it off because I leave everything at default.
If ASM is OFF in default I leave it off.
Only TCS 5 and ABS 1 was on.
So I can now drive without TCS.

nope, all the quick cars i've driven including mine, no tcs
abs though pisses me off in some cars, i imagine it's similar

ABS is nice to have. Especially in a quick braking situation. And even more so if you've never been in a situation where you've had to slam on the brakes. I've had a car with full manual brakes. I'll gladly take a modern day ABS system after all the crap I've been in. lol In a street car, it's best. In a racing situation it's probably not needed, and if you're activating it you're driving way too hard anyway.

so you think its more realistic to turn steering force off?

So inless im being dumb, I cant believe I just read this. I have never felt the need to turn steering force on, so dont actually know what it is. However i just assumed it was the computer steering for me. Is this the case?? If not, what is it?

ABS being off shouldn't affect steering too much AFTER you've stopped braking though. The steering goes light when your wheel locked up underbraking, but that tells you to back off the brake pedal. And when that happens everything resumes normal, self-centering and all....Yes its very easy to lock the wheels without ABS using most driving wheels, which is why in most cases when i drive without ABS on anything less than race tire my brake force is no more than 3:1 or 4:1...

I've got a DFGT and currently run with everything turned off except...

ABS - 1
FFB - Simulation

I keep ABS at 1 instead of off because there is no braking feedback.

true, it rotates better at turn in if you have ABS off, even though my G25 isn't pressure sensitive it still allows pretty precise braking, just takes practice.

Ditto, I think I am actually more consistent since with ABS on I think the braking "trajectory" is somewhat influence by what state of cornering/trail braking I am in and the EBD in game is somewhat second guessing my intention, where as without it I am in control of all of it...

It really depends on the car. Some cars are completely uncontrollable without TCS.
I usually play with TSC on 1, doesn't hinder me, but keeps the car from skidding when accelerating.
