Ok first i want to say when i went to go make this thread i loved the little search box thing. Sweet. But i didnt bother to search this topic anyway.. Let me say thta i just saw the driving force pro for 91 dollars on gamepro. Ok and while i was there i was reading about gt4. Apparently its esrb?? rating is teen. WTF. It says that u have to be 13 years or older to play. Unless there is some violence or some thing shouldnt it be for E everyone?? Well thought i share some probably already know news. Oh and this just in

I suppose that it might be because it has bits that could harm a child, I can't really think of any other reason.

I don't know, the gear nob? When I have a DFP I'll have a look and let you know, but I can't think of any other seroiuse reason why that would be.

Are you saying the Driving Force Pro or GT4 is rated Teen? It's very confusing.

Im saying that while i was on gamepro i saw a low price for the driving force pro. But the main reason was that i saw that gt4 was teen rated. And yea you may be right Lives4speed, the driving force pro does have a small sticker under the shifter indicating that small children shouldnt touch. But that doesnt mean 8 year olds and such. I know it doesnt matter but with such a highly respected game some parents are strict aswell so.....

13years old ? Maybe they dont want kids to be inspire by the game and then go out and cycle like crazy and crash in to walls and posts... 💡 ..... :odd:

Release date 31st!.....yeah sure! :irked:

Uh, it's most likely because of the music, not that a 13 year old might be 'inspired' to drive like a noob in real life.

look at the back of GT3, it is rated EVERYONE, and under that it says "MILD LYRICS" i would imagine GT4 will be rated the same as GT3.

The ESRB rating system has become a lot stricter since GT3 was released in 2001.

I think the T rating is a good thing. No one wants little kids playing GT4 online with them anyway. This will prevent them from purchasing the game to begin with.

How? Unless its different there, they don't check your age unless its rated M.

And if its just the music, I mean the music can be turned off ya know. Its always turned off for me, I find it a lil annoying haha. Especially the menu music.

um, stupid thread.

A- The rating is a mistake or they dont think kids could use it, it is built for people who actually drive, not toddlers

B- The release date mentioned is so wrong its funny, you dont even mention where its from...

It's a lot stricter here, some stores may, some may not. If it's obvious that a little kid is buying a T rated game or underaged teen buying a M rated game, they won't sell it.

Doesn't matter if the music can be turned on or off. If the content is in the game, it's going to get the appropriate rating.

What in God's name has happened to the ESRB? Are they following too much in the footsteps of the FCC and MPAA or something? Please tell me this isn't happening, 'cause if it is, it REALLY sucks. I mean, how can gaming itself move into more mature waters if something like GRAN TURISMO 4 gets a TEEN rating? What's next, Mario? GTA:SA getting an ADULTS ONLY rating? The madness has to stop!!!

Yeah, but, the thing is some parents might see that and think oh my kid is too young for this game so I won't buy it, even if it is the music. The thing is, of course, that some people who have no clue about these games (like my parents) and don't know that the music can be turned off may not buy it because of the rating. :grumpy:

Although, maybe if the music is bad enough to make it get a teen rating they should umm.. change the music? LoL. That would be the simplest thing to do.

@ jjboi - I think they may be following Nintendo's example and trying to be "family friendly". It's a good thing if they don't overdo it, but a lot of things such as this listens to all the wrong people and ends up messin things up.

I think it all depends on the store, I've bought M rated games from some stores, but others wont let me. And besides, from what that release date says, I don't think that site is too accurate.

It's for the music, and the influence on kids to drive fast. Don't you guys see the warning that pops up each time before the game is loaded? Yes, there are kids that stupid out there to mimic their GT3 driving skills with real vehicles. And, the parents of these stupid kids will not take responsibility for what their kid did, and will sue anybody, and everbody, they possibly can.

yes, this country has gotten sue-happy. shoot yourself with a gun? sue the gun maker. ran into a phone pole cuz you were yackin on your cell phone? sue the phone company..

and yeah, the site's release date was (sadly) off... but wasn't that close to the original release date? I don't know when it was originally set to be released, I just know it was pushed back.

i found out the other day that you have to be 18 to trade games in because its concidered a PAWN.

I'd definately have to agree with you here. Also, the rating may also be influenced by the on-line aspect of the game. It can get pretty hostile in on-line games.

there is no american song list yet...and the prologue music is clean

then all racing games should be rated teen theN? on BMW demo disk it says 3+

im voting for the onine theory, i certainly will be useing plenty of words unsuitable for young chidren when the little ****s dont use the breaks at the first corner and take me out

madden and ea sports games go online and there rated E.

any way to communicate? there were ruours about gt4 usieng the headset, but that was a while ago.

you could communicate through ssx3 with a headset...and thats rated E

a lot of xbox games support the headset and rated E like pgr2

[completely offtopic]I don't get this, why does everyone hate the menu music? It's got to be the least annoying music in the game. [/completely offtopic]

ok on to plan B! i think that the game is just too much for the average preteen to comprehend. adjusting camber and gear ratios? nah they wouldnt even have the attention span for it
