Not sure if you realised, but an Impreza being a 4WD, power understeer is exactly what it would be likely to do in such a situation, that said the way the game does understeer and oversteer is just insane... i hate the physics and how over the top the performance of every car is, and the lack of weight in cars, and the lack of complexity to any form of understeer or oversteer, bla bla etc etc.. but enough of that.

Pricing on the cars seems strange, i was able to pickup a Mclaren Mp4-12c(A1) and then a Ferrari 458 italia(A2) each at about 200,000, which when compared to a lot of other cars in the range is extremely cheap. But the biggest bargains come in the form of these.

Nissan GTR (A2) - 70,000 - Really fast and really good as expected, unexpected though is 204mph top speed as standard (despite advertised as a lot lower), will compete with the other A2 cars with ease, though the 458 has better grip in corners.

Caterham (A3) 60,000 (ish) - Ridiculously fast for an A3 car, ridiculously good brakes, but top speed of only 155, though it will thrash anything in A3 for racing.

Ariel Atom 300 (A1) - 75,000 (ish) Just like the caterham but even more crazy, will destroy most A1 cars up until the point of its fairly low top speed of 155 (ish).

Good fun game, if it had better physics and sounds it would be one of the best racing games out there, as it stands its just a decent arcade racer, could use more cars and better interaction with the world in your avatar.

Bloody awesome game! I just marvel at how so many people moan about the handling, the graphics and pretty much everything else. This kind of game was pretty much unheard of until TDU made its appearance. I mean, two entire islands to explore, almost 100 great cars and still people find things to moan about! Perhaps we should return to the days of Test Drive 2 because it seems that the more gaming companies give to consumers, the less happy they are  I've pretty much been hoping for a game like this ever since the 1980's and for one am so glad it's finally become a reality :)

Should i buy this game? I know it's not meant to be a driving sim like gt5 or f1 2010 so i don't mind an arcady feel. One of my favourite arcade style racers is burnout paradise. I'm guessing the two games are pretty similar because in burnout paradise you can just cruise around the city or do races when you want. is this game anything like that?

I'm enjoying this game too. Couldnt really get into it with a wheel though, maybe I'll giveit another go, but I really hate "driving" my avatar. Also it feels better suited to pad control, like NFS hot pursuit.

My score for the game is now a solid 9.7. Why the sudden increase? Simple, I just flew over to Oahu and BAM!, nostalgic punch to the gut. It's incredibly beautiful now and looks at least two times better than it does in the original. Cruising around ginormous Hawaii in my Scooby (which is bloody fantastic off-road), and at night...everything just lights up, literally. Best thing about all of this is I'm just getting started. And, Casino Island, FTW.

If, for whatever reason you're on the fence unsure if this is a safe purchase or not: it is. If you love the open road (and, boy, is it open) with races, an assortment of challenges, and various locations to discover then you'll enjoy this until you've gone retarded.

I am on the fence about TDU2 actually. I'm looking for a fix GT5 didn't provide, and this game looks nice. It's just that I'm not an online gamer, and I very much dislike the RPG thing which seems to be connected to this game. In essence I'd love to enjoy driving around freely with a range of great cars, but I'd like to be able to do that without having to play online or needing to advance socially. So, would TDU2 still deliver?

Hmm im in that camp too- just wanna drive dammit not worry about my hair! New version of Driver perhaps?

By not using the online/multiplayer mode you're limiting yourself greatly within the game. Should be mentioned though that you can still play your single player game uninteruped or unspoiled by any possible multiplayer activity, while in online mode.

Above saying what do we have to moan about (100 cars 2 islands etc). Its the lies and the lack of progress from the previous game. They talked all about how the cars felt amazing and had weight, they talked about physics and about a hardcore mode for a simulation drive (which was all lies, its very arcade style on hardcore mode, very similar feel to the original game), they talked about a lot of things that didnt make it. The car list is small when you compare it to other games on the market and the quality of the modeling(while good) is not as good as GT5 for example. The original game had many legendary cars that arent available in the new game, so while the modern and up to date car list in the new game is nice it doesnt make up for the loss of the old legendary cars (Mclaren F1, Jag XJ220 to name). The sounds in TDU2 are terrible, the original games car sounds were actually better than this, a certain ferrari sounded like it was filtering through a vocal autotuner, that is quite terrible.

The game is also very buggy, mutltiplayer functionality often doesnt work in different areas or at all, some people thought GT5 was released a little early with its bugs, but in reality it was quite polished, in comparison to this. I guess theres no better way to find the bugs than to make it go live though.

Car wise again, quite annoyed at the ridiculous ammount of pre-order exclusive cars available, there is quite a big list of cars that will not be available until the future when they will be DLC, considering the small car list in the game anyway (and it is small by todays standards) you would think they could stop being so scabby and just put the cars in, not try to charge us extra at a later date.

Great game, but full of great flaws. Could not give this more than a 6-7/10

Thanks for your views Baz.

Anything coming out of the developers yet regarding patches?
I realise its early days but there have been some big bugs.

Hoping to pick this up down the line. Patched and cheaper.
Thank goodness for you beta testers. Much appreciated.

When I played TDU (1) I had no broadband connection so it was offline only for me. And it was a great experience. Basic physics yes, but endless roads, mountain passes and in general the sense that you were free to drive wherever you wanted was a blast. Keep in mind also that TDU PS2 was the lighter version so most RPG elements didn't exist. And I didn't miss them.

All this to say that even offline this game can be great fun.

A couple questions:

Are the missions/jobs where you transport peoples cars from one place to another in TDU2 also? That was my favorite part of TDU 1.
Also has TDU2 really become a online social game ("home" (PS home) away from "home" so to say) people I have seen describing it as?

Sorry I haven't done much research on it because all the focus to online casino's, parties, boats etc I saw in development videos (not my thing.. at all), but now I am interested in finding out how it has turned out.

Loads of missions to pickup hitchhikers and thrillseekers of various sorts, you would be amazed at the kind of people who are in need of me taking their car to be serviced, while they are in the middle of nowhere up a mountain in the forest ^^.

There is a massive singleplayer game here, i've barely touched the online stuff (mostly cos its not been working, and is still being fixed by the devs) - If you played TDU1 then this is much the same, new graphics, new cars, a new island, lots of mini adventures to be had. As a game for games sake, ignoring my sim-biased views on the physics it is a great game, there are hundreds and hundreds of miles of roads (dirt and tarmac) to be explored.

Unless you're limited to playing offline for hardware reasons then i would recommend you play multiplayer anyway, since you have nothing to lose from it. I've not touched the casino, the parties thing doesnt really seem to be part of the game, you can walk around your house but its extremely limited, even the biggest houses only have small areas where you can move around, the game is in the driving, you cannot leave your car unless you're in a building (shop/house etc)

Thanks, good to hear about the single player, but for multiplayer, I do play particular games online with select people but I very rarely enjoy public multiplayer gaming (and I have tried most the popular ones). Never has appealed to me since the days of Day of Defeat (1).

Despite its flaws this is still a brilliant game and if they patch the game to fix the flaws It will be near perfect IMO.

Aye where my point stands though, you're playing single player but in an online world, you may hardly ever see other drivers, i seldom do come accross other drivers. While on missions you're separated from the world of other players, though all the driving takes place on roads on the island itself, only you are there. Say for example you needed to pickup a hitchhiker who wanted a smooth journey (that being the mission), you would not see any other players while driving around on this mission. There are features and parts to the single player game that are only available online, and the single player game cannot be effected by other players.

There is the annoying thing of the "voice com" where you will hear people in the near area using their mic's, i have that turned off so i do not hear anything anybody sais. What i'm saying though is if you played an offline game, you limit yourself, you cannot start an offline game and then decide to play online with that profile, you would need to create another online profile.(atleast on the PC version you can't)

Well that sounds pretty good then, thanks for the info. 👍

I agree about the pre-order exclusive cars thing. They should have simply been part of the game because unless someone ordered 4 copies of the game to get the pre-order exclusives, you may as well say they don't exist (at least until DLC comes in the future) I think this was a bit cheap on Eden's part because we've already paid £35-£40 for the game.

Twitter-like post: ;)

Bought the game now. Can't play atm, will try tonight, PS3-G25 combo, will use Lars wheel recommended setup. Hope I like it!

The higher powered cars are pretty hard to drive. I'm trying an Aston right now and it keeps swapping ends in the corners, it's like I'm on ice.

Which Aston have you tried? V8 Vantage is too tail-happy for me as well, but DBS drives fine.

What racetracks has everyone unlocked? On Oahu, I found Nurburgring Sudschleife, Indy Road Course, the one from TDU1 and two I cannot identify. One is S-shaped (eastern Oahu) and one is C-shaped (south west Oahu). Do you know what tracks could they be? Has anyone found more?

•Online Play – Online, being monitored
•DLC Purchasing – Online
•Pre-Order Code Redemption - Online
•Pre-Order Casino Code Redemption - Online
•Getting pre-order cars and Casino in-game - Some users are reporting that their cars don't show up in the Used Car Dealer after the code is redeemed. If this affects you, try playing the game in Offline Mode to see if the cars show up.
•Casino Access - Online, being monitored
•Clubs - Offline to fix an exploit, the fix is in QA now!

Issues Being Investigated
•Slow Download Speeds - Some PS3 users are reporting slow download speeds. We are looking into the situation to see if it is something on our end that we can resolve.
•Inconsistent DLC items from other platforms - Users have reported that the PS3 store has products that are not available on other platforms. They provided an image and I have escalated this accordingly.
•Limited to one profile? - Users have reported that even if they have multiple profiles available on their PS3, that it's not possible to create a new save file for TDU2.
•Crashing - Users running the EU version have reported crash issues. Please wait for the EU patch to go live, and report back if the issue persists.
•No Radio? - Will address after major issues are ironed out.

Mainly server issues and online play.

You can play the game online and turn off the ability for other players to challenge you in the options menu.

But seriously, I am very interested to hear your opinion concerning TDU @ and G25. Am thinking of buying this game, but kinda afraid that it may not be 'fun' to drive on a PS3 with a G25 wheel (dead zone, sensitivity, smoothness of the handling + physics). I am kind of a GT5 adept, so...
Anyway, How is the game holding up for you?

Good fun game, if it had better physics and sounds it would be one of the best racing games out there, as it stands its just a decent arcade racer, could use more cars and better interaction with the world in your avatar.

For the A2 championship I used the Spyker C12 Zagato. Had lots of grip in the corners and lots of speed, easily beat almost all of the races.

For the A1 I have a tuned Ascari A10. I painted it red, and now I call it my little red tomato 'cause that's what it looks like.

Is it at all strange that I can access the casino despite not having pre-ordered it from GameStop, or brought the DLC package from Atari.com? If it is strange, then I've already brought clothing from there....so, yeah. :p

Steam user here, by the way.
