You can use whatever cars you like i guess, my point about the above was how cheap they were, all 3 of the cars i chose for A1, A2 + A3 could be bought for the price of 1 of your cars, and all 3 of them have exceptional performance.

Is it at all strange that I can access the casino despite not having pre-ordered it from GameStop, or brought the DLC package from Atari.com? If it is strange, then I've already brought clothing from there....so, yeah. :P

Steam user here, by the way.

Oh really? I must try this, I like free things :).

Get to it before the servers go back up!

It should be known that the casino nickels and dimes you from the get-go, for every 2 credits you exchange (and you have to exchange as the casino has it's own currency) it's only worth 1 casino credit. :grumpy:

Yes, but it goes both ways. one credit is $2. Which means, you win the Jackpot in the High Life Slots and that's 2 million bucks.

All this to say that even offline this game can be great fun.

I hope offline is good as in first game, I really don't have time to play online..

Can you access Casino-play (play games) offline or is it online-only feature?

What championship is this or is it just all the offline races in general?

The A-1 Championship. I did type A1, didn't I? Not AI? I know they look the same. But the AI, for the most part, is easy. And they do suck in the AI, but one guy has the stupid Veyron, so he has all the straight line speed. But, he sucks in the corners. But he's awesome over jumps because his car weighs almost more than the other cars in the race combined...well, not that much....just over 2 tons. (The Ascari A10 weighs 2,822lbs...about 1300lbs lighter than the Bugatti)

So, the key is to get a car that can beat him in the straights and corners...or not worry about the races that are determined by speed...which is two or three, that I can see.

Managed to achieve this on my first visit to the casino. Thank god it's not real money though because i've spent rather a lot so far trying to get the R8.

Game is horrific on G25.

Disaster. I played TDU for months on X360 with the crappy MSFF wheel and it was great. This... it is beyond words.

I still can't decide what I hate more: horrid wheel suport, fact I can't adjust seating position or utterly annoying feature where game constantly adjusts FOW in cockpit view relatively to the road. Probably all of that equally, together with the fact that general physics basically changes depending which car you drive.

What were they thinking, first game was a perfect arcade racer, this game can't even allow Mustang to countersteer..

Have invested 3 hours and shelved it. What a mess.

The game was more then likely designed to play with a controller, since most people don't desire and expensive wheel.

amar, first impression was bad also but after I switched to Lars (NLxAROSA) settings it all became a lot better. Still, didn't do much just bought a Integrale and took it for a spin.

Generally I agree that TDU1 pleased me more. In driving/ racing games I'm a driver/racer, not a stupid metrosexual trying to figure out if the virtual chicks boobs are real or fake

Anyway, jokes apart, the first TDU, even in its most basic version (PS2) impressed me more from the get go. And I was a Enthusia player before so I'm not talking "Great physics in TDU1", I'm talking a different, refreshing approach and a well balanced game where the arcade handling was clearly compensated by all you could do and all the places you could go. A low speed trip around the North Coast of the island was a pleasure.

No settings helps actually, the handling is atrocious. I thought official forums are overreacting, but now I know they are not :)

First TDU on x360 was a great driving experience, as I said, even with crappy MS wheel I really enjoyed it. My favorite arcade racer this-gen, way ahead PGR3. But this.. I mean, I am beyond words :D

Really, I can't say which part is worst: handling, different logic of wheel setup for every car (you have to literally re-adjust wheel settings for every car) or damn cockpit camera that is akwardly self-positioning itself when driving with the wheel, folowing the road..

My God Eden, what have you done?

Did we play a different game? With the wheel settings I posted (made a little change to it, speed factor to 0), I find it pretty nice. Some cars ARE plain crap though, like the Golf GTI. Other cars (like the Integrale or the Brera) are much easier to handle.

Amar wh did you waste your money.
Should have waited for a patch and by then it would have Bren cheaper too.
Not that I think a patch is coming, if it doesn't then don't buy.

3 hours is not long enough. I was horrified when I got the game but it doesn't matter, the game is an arcade and every arcade is different. For every NFS I played as a kid I had to learn the physics (I don't bother with that NFS rubbish anymore) but it never bothered me.

I expect, before I got this game to have to learn the physics, and not just any physics, but rubbish ones. I played in the beta for one day and let it go because they were that bad.

Basically, you have to sit there with one wheel configuration (changing it is only going to confuse and piss you off) and learn to play with it. The cars are all generally ok except for that stupid mustang which is ridiculously hard to drive. As for the head camera, I never really noticed it until a friend pointed it out to me but it still doesn't bother me. If you don't think about it then it shouldn't bother you.

Just play the game for what it is and you should be sweet.

Well, I got used to the handling pretty quick, and in all honesty it doesn't bother me that much. Now, the brakes .... I think they're better than the X2010's ...

Yes, the brakes definitely need a sensitivity setting (or at least a lot less sensitive than it is now). Other than that, most cars handle quite nicely. The balancing could be better though, for example in the C4 class, the Mustang is no match for the Integrale, the Integrale is simply too good. Same is true for the TTS in the A6 class, with a different car you hardly stand a chance.

I used an STI for my A6 races with no problems. I couldn't bring myself to buy an Audi TT .

amar : use the fanatec (already unpacked it??) and set the sensitivity to 360 - 450°.

Now the game is playable with a wheel. The deadzone is nearly gone.

I just hope atari or a mod releases a patch for the physics.
I would already be happy with the TDU physics. A bit more realistic physics, a real clutch = happy ibo
Brakes are fragile, and i use the csp. I don't want to imagine it on the g25 or the dfgt.

I was tempted to get the STI, but got a 370z instead. Wrong choice there. 4WD is the way to go, it seems.

Really? I blew it up with the Impreza for A6, both the beginning and high championships.

I guess it's just certain cars. (Or maybe I just happened to pick the wrong cars ). The Mustang/Integral difference is glaringly obvious: the Mustang tops out at around 180 kmh (even with stage 2 tuning it hardly goes any further), the Integrale tops out at 236 at the same stage. And it handles a lot better too.

Luckily you can restrict the online challenges to certain models. 👍 (Shameless plug for PS3 users: try the challenges I posted :P).

Some of them are ridiculous to drive around without lift-off oversteer into a tree, ditch, another car, or just random foliage. I'm driving around in an Audi now and it too also has ridiculous lift-off "Watch out for that tree!" oversteer.

I like the game a lot but theres just one think thats p/&%/ me off - how do I take photos with the wheel? I can zoom - tilt - etc - etc but I cant move the camera left or right :grumpy:

Im on the PS3 with a DFGT

I have to swith to the controler take the photo and I cant swith back to the wheel - I have to quit the game and restart :grumpy:

You don't have to do that. When you're using the controller and want to switch to the wheel, just turn the controller off, unplug the wheel and plug it right back in. After the wheel recalibrate, you can use it again.

No you cant. Ive tried it more than once and the wheel doesnt work and the game keeps asking me to plug the controler back again

the wheel does the calibration think but it doesnt work ingame unlike in GT5

Hmm, that's strange. Because I have a G27 and that's what I've been doing to switch between the wheel and controller. I never had to quit out of the game so far, just pause it anywhere really.

Do you asign the new controler before or after you unplug the wheel.

What I have been doing is - unplug the wheel - plug the controler - take photo - unplug the controler and plug the wheel - but then the wheel only calibrates and doesnt work :nervous:
