I have searched here and there for the subject on test driving. My question is this: is it possible to test drive the car you want to buy, before making your purchase?

Ummm, no...but why would you care to? Credits are easy to come by in GT4 and if you don't like it sell it, not a huge deal.

Unless you buy it, don't save after you do, try it and then restart the game

The problem is that when you buy a car, the game will automatically save the game as soon as you purchase it. This is obviously so that your new car will be made available in the arcade section.

I'll try to purchase a car without a memory card in the PS2 and see what happens...

you can turn that off in the options though....or select "no"

Do you mean test driving it in the game will be accurate to driving in real life; thus you could be impressed by the virtual test drive that you go out and buy the real car?

I think that was the whole point of the bmw/toyota demos

So when you "test drive" a car or just buy one....the car automatically transfers over to the arcade mode. Does this mean that you don't have to load your garage into the arcade mode anymore??

That's right - but at the same time no modification of garage cars is allowed in arcade/2p mode (it just unlocks the stock version of that car, not the one you put the stage 3 turbo on) - this is definetly going to be changed for the PAL release and I am hopeful it will be for the US release as well.

there are some cars already available from the beginning in the arcade mode.
All other cars are stock version of cars from ur garage. So if you wanna drive the MacLaren F1, u need to win/buy it in GT mode first..
