If it wernt for drafting I would have lost at the test course in the all stars race in proffeshonal with my F090/S. Every time I went into a draft I would go from 207 to 235mph:eek: drafting=

Drafting can make you pick up a considerable amount of speed. My Escudo goes about 300 MPH, but when I got a draft in 2P from my friend's Escudo on the Test Course, I was able to go 325 MPH. That is about the fastest the Scud can go without the wheelie trick.

where you stay behind a car for a while and it like a boost sorta, cuz all the air resistance is on the car in front of you and none on you so you kinda slingshot, get it?

Just watch a NASCAR, or IRL race. You will get it by the tenth lap, fall asleep and wake up with five laps to go. Ovals are so boring.

As above, in (hopefully) more coherent language:
every car is slowed by drag. The drag is caused by the air in front of the car hitting it and slowing it down. Having another car in front of you disturbs the air and reduces the drag. Thus you can go faster.
Note that it only works at high speed, where drag becomes an issue.

I drafted once when my Escudo was doing that wheelie trick and it went from 600km/h to 1200 down the straight...it even hit the car I was drafting (GT-One).

All of the GT games have the effect of the draft in them. I didn't think GT1 did, but then I was racing on the Test Course and I noticed I was gaining speed by being behind a car.

but in a car where down force matters during turns this shyt sucks...a real formula 1 car cant draft through turns at 200+ kmh because in order to grip the road wellenough it needs loads of downforce....not drag..but downforce so this tactic is basically useless

You need to learn punctuation.

I've thought about all that before, as I'm sure real racing teams do. You still get airflow over the car while drafting, it's just decreased. And the slower the lead car goes the shorter the air pocket behind them is.

It's not worthless, obviously, because it's a real world advantage to draft on straights. But when you get into corners you have to slow down anyway which reduces the amount of drafting that is available. In addition to that the trailing car usually backs off a bit to avoid rearending the lead car.

Nah,... I've gone 340 without the draft,...

...and here I was expecting a class extolling the benefits of a drafting class. You know, a class that had assisted the alumnus' procurement of gainful employment.

Well, when I'm wrong...boy, am I wrong.
