That one corner you just can't get right.

Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to try that out!!
I always over speed into it and if im lucky, i'd hit the outside rumble strip :P

If I drove more often at TGTT I'd probably get turn one down to a manageable pace, but truth is that track isn't the first one that comes to mind when I want to tune or just run some hot laps.

I've always been wary of Eiskurve at the Nurburgring, right after Brunnchen.

The way it tightens as you go into it, and then straightening the car out at the top of the hill afterwards, you know when most of the weight is off the tires. Makes my heart race, specially in MR cars.

The first set of chicanes at the end of the Le Sarthe lap. I ALWAYS brake too late and end up clobbering the bollard at best or brushing the gravel at worst...

The one sharp left hand turn on Fuji Speedway right before the tight right hander leading to the finish line. I ALWAYS understeer off the track on that corner.

That's about the only corner I have problem with. Haven't found a good visual cue for braking and when to turn to nail the apex there... I'm always too early, and then I try to accelerate out of the corner just to find that the corner is still happening and I need to do some ugly mid-corner braking to make it around.

I use the pit entrance as a reference point for braking, works pretty good.

The first two corners on the Nurburgring 24HR circuit :banghead:

And I also seem to consistently miss the braking point on the GP circuit as well :dunce:

The first corners on Daytona and Top Gear are really difficult as well.

And to think so many people complain that the bobs mess up in the same spots, repeatedly...
Turn 1 on Nurb 24Hr bugs the crap out of me, even when I get it right, it feels wrong.

Has to be Eiger Norwands gravel track for me, the section in question is the long descending sweeping right hander after the summit hairpin, i always end up sliding into the barrier, love the track but boy i find it frustrating.:scared:

Too many! I always practice with the heaviest car in my garage with comfort tyres then, you will always find the line.

Pouhon at Spa, I always run wide or make some kind of error.

Agreed, I always feel like I am leaving a 1/4 of a second in Pouhon and I have yet to figure out how much of the track you are actually allowed to use. Are the green sections to the right of the outside red/white curbing considered part of the track? It seems that my lap is only invalidated when I run real wide on the run-off area.

-Does anyone know where the "track" is defined on that corner? It seems quite vague. I see people running pretty wide online and their car is not penalized (yes penalties are 'on').

The very last bend at Laguna Seca. I either go way too slow, or end up on the grass. :p

Last corner at Fuji, lucky they have the Massa tarmac outside the corner so usually just keep it floored. But can never figure out where the apex is on that corner... No issues with the previous corner (mostly). Shame they have the Tilke spec and not the earlier versions in GT4.

Denger 1 (always too fast in..) and Denger 2 (always on the gas too soon..)

Much of the 'Ring, including the straight bits on occasion...

TGTT & Daytona turn 1.

Laguna Seca, left hander before heading up the hill towards the corkscrew. Either too fast or too slow. I probably only nail it 1 in 10 laps...

That long sweeping left turn on Spa, forgot what it's actual name is, but I'm sure the Spa buffs will tell me.:dopey:

Funny you mention Pouhon, this corner has been nerfed, in the good ol days there was no asphalt runoff it was a kerb and kitty litter and a wall. Now you can screw up big time and all you lose is time.

For me the porsche curves at la sarthe are hard to nail, also on cote de azure I often misjudge my braking point for the right hander after tabac. Also it's hard to nail the Dunlop curve in a prototype at suzuka

The first flat right hander on Laguna Seca. It never feels like I quite nail it, also the sweeping uphill left hander (two turns after the first mentioned turn) is difficult.

I know exactly what you are talking about. You don't feel like you are coming in particularly hot, but you have to hit the brakes way early and hold them!

Is it odd that I actually find Spa a breeze to drive? The chicanes and hairpins just seem kind of obligatory rather than challenging, and all the other corners seem built especially for tracking out at blistering speeds.

Always fun, and not a corner I can think of that regularly trips me up.

In dry weather, that is.

Yeah you won't pay the price in today's Spa compared to back then, but I bet a lot of racing teams are happy that they changed it to what it is now.

There used to be loads, but through various means of practice i've pretty much got them nailed;

Daytona road turn 1: Ran WRS here, learnt the corner. Still requires a couple of laps to get used to in a new car, but I know the corner quite well.

TGTT turn 1: When doing the SLS challenge here I learnt the fastest way around. The same line/approach even translates well over to Forza when I did a time trial event at Game in the Cee'd.

La Sarthe, the left hander just after the Porsche curves: I always ran wide here. But again, running the WRS here showed me that you need to get off the power and turn in much earlier, and don't shift up.

La Sarthe Mulsane (sp?) hairpin: I never used to be able to do this right. But a 24 hour race sorted this out. This occasionally hit the gravel but only when pushing the limits in the braking zone.

All the hairpins at Tsukuba: When doing the supercar seasonal event I learnt how to nail all of these, I never found them difficult it's just I was only simply matching the AI, I needed to find a faster way. Hugging the apex is pretty important here.

I think perhaps the esses at High Speed Ring are still a problem for me, I never seem to nail the entry to the first one. Blanchimont at Spa is also difficult, although I only drove this for the first time in GT5 and my only knowledge of the track comes from F1, and Blanchimont is flat in one of those.

The corner on Autumn Ring, after the hairpin coming after the first slpit.

It just falls away from you, and the way I set my cars up round there means this corner is a right handfull!

Also, the hairpin on Grand Valley where again, the road falls away from you.... not to mention that bloody chicane at the end of the lap :nervous:

The penaltimate left hander at Tokyo and the quadruple-apex right hander on Cape Ring.
