Oh, so subtle. So subtle.sUnOf course I'd bang that ride. Of course!
Aftermarket.///M-SpecDoes that stuff come stock or is it aftermarket?

I've heard this argument before (not necessarily from you) on this site. I don't know many cars that don't compromise some performance for one reason or another when mass produced. If they didn't, having an aftermarket would be kind of useless.super cirrussweet. The stock wheels and tires definitly make the car look less sporty. Also they coulda modernized the suspension a bit more. But other than that, looks good.
LethalchemI disagree. There is no such car. 2004 will be the last Mustang Cobra until 06.![]()
KlostrophobicOK, make it the '04 version.
I shouldn't have assumed they would be making an '05 version.
LethalchemDo these facts mean the Cobra handles just as good as the Vette? Nope, not at all. It simply means that in MOST situations, the superior handling characteristics of a car cannot be used, because it can't be pushed to it's limits (or that most people can't drive the car to the limits it's capable of) in most environments.
I'm not sure exactly. I'm in SM2 (with a 4 seater..go figure) because my displacement is too high with forced induction AND upped boost. My mods bumped me out of stock class from the very beginning. I think it may be F stock if I were still in stock form.///M-SpecNicely said. 👍 If you are getting 10/10ths out of Cobra or a Z06 on the street, you are going way too fast. At the track or at Solo II it usually just comes down to driver skill.
Where does the SCCA class the Cobra? A-Stock?

I do, however, believe the handling will be much better than you seem to think. Having a kickass suspension is one thing on a track, but entirely another on the street. I'm not talking ride quality, I'm talking about usefulness and opportunity to push a car to it's handling limits on the street.
Although many cars techincally have "superior handling", I find this does not translate into a significant difference on the street. Why? Simply because most roads will not allow the proper surface/room/situation to push a car to it's full potential. Sure, you might know "that one place down by the river" that has a turn you love to take fast, but that's hardly enough to warrent a complaint about a product's capabilities. I also believe that many performance cars are capable of much better handling than the average driver will ever be able to achieve.
For example, everyone knows the 2002 Corvette Z06 has superior handling and design to my 2003 Cobra. Weight, suspension, (and price) etc ...is all above and beyond the Cobra. Yet, my friend cannot lose me in his Z06 when we drive through the mountains, we were within less than a second of each other (swapping top time back and forth) at a 2 day road course event, and I've beaten him at several autocross events. This has also been true with other C5's, so it's not just driver ability.

I think my current cobra handles very well, and I expect the new version of the mustang and Cobra to be even better. If you had the 05 in your driveway right now, I think you could take it out on your roads (whatever roads they may be) and you will find it performs just fine. 👍

This is extremely off-topic but honestly in the new Car&Driver magazine on the second page there is a two page poster of a blue 2005 Mustang GT with these wheels that absolutely fantastic on the car. Does anyone know what brand of wheels are on that mustang?

I've got that ad in one of my Mustang magazines, but I don't know what kind of rims those are.Yes, super cirrus, that is the one I am talking about. It's the brand new issue of C&D. The one with the blue 05 mustang with the rims i'm dying to know about and the drag mustang on the top.
There is a picture of it in the November Car and Driver. Has a reverse hood scoop and big front bumper.98cobraThe Steeda Q400 is lookin' good, but I'm waiting to see what the new Saleen will look like.
