Hah. If I didn't know better and saw the screenshots I'd swear I'm looking at one of those 90s arcade games. Cruis'n World, USA, Daytona USA, damn. Fun times. Looks like the dev and I grew up on the same arcade games.

I backed this! Sounds ridiculous, but 90's is right up there alongside Project CARS as my two most anticipated racing games of the year. Sega racers have always been my favorite, and if they can successfully make a game that follows in the footsteps of Daytona, Scud Race, and Virtua Racing, I'll be absolutely thrilled.

Pretty neat. Love the Whale swimming next to the track.

Surprised Rad Mobile has not been mentioned, nor on the kickstarter. It had a sonic hedgehog swinging off the rear view mirror. Awesome arcade racer.

Heh, it's hard to not get those "Daytona USA" vibes from watching the trailer. In fact, I think this is a collection of Sega's greatest arcade racers; a dash of Daytona, with some Virtua Racing and Scud slices. Now all we need is to hear more about it, and see more footage of the game in action.

Too bad about the setback they experienced with the AI programming, but looking at the Kickstarter page now, it seems they're making progress again. I'm still looking forward to it. 👍

If they put a decent drift mechanic into it that is similar to RR games that would make me want it. It doesn't seem like they are going for Namcos greatest game but more the Sega franchises. No Sega Rally in there though :(

SEGA Rally really doesn't get enough love. Suppose SEGA Rally Online Arcade will have to do for now...

Someone needs to translate the spirit of Sega Rally games to a new version. Isn't somebody interested in doing that? There has been very few arcade-style rally games as of late...

Ridge Racer and Sega Rally are two of the best arcade racers around. I used to spend hours online with RR7 on the PS3 racing against Japanese racers who I found were the fastest and really offered a challenge. Sega Rally was something special especially on an actual arcade machine.

It makes me sad to see so many great franchises disappear. I would have though these types of games would have mass appeal for casual and hardcore alike.

Don't forget Outrun either, that game had a lot going for it by the time of 2006 Coast 2 Coast, and then Sega just dropped it. I am sad that they haven't picked up on it ever since, it was a great drifting game.

To be truthful I played the Lotus Esprit games and Stunt Car Racer as a kid, it wasn't until I hit the Arcades I played RR and SR plus the others Japan was putting out at the time. Never really played Outrun until later in life, still its a good game.

I am not a child of the 1980's, and it did take me a while to experience games such as Outrun and Ridge Racer. But after playing them, I really took a liking to these arcade games. Which is why it's a pity to see that the genre is so stale as of late.
