Or more in particular 90's japanese sports cars, which in my opinion was the golden era of Japanese sports cars. But out of the Toyota supra's, Celica's, Honda NSX's, Mazda RX-7's, Mitsuibishi GTO(3000gt), Lancer evolution, FTO, Nissan R33's, Silvia's, 300ZX, and Subaru WRX STI's which was your favourite, and which manufacturer shined the most. Bring your motoring passion, which did you love to drive the most on GT5 and why?
 
That's the era that shined. I have no real preference to be honest. They were ALL great :) But personally, I loved the Supra RZ. In GT5... I've been using the NSX, never knew about the car till I played a demo of GT1. Best wishes to Japan's recovery.
 
Mazda. Only because of the FC (mostly 80s) and FD RX7s. Nimble, Rear Wheel Drive, and lots of power.
 
Mitsubishi 3000GT Twin Turbo.

Loved it ever since my Puma stickered 900+bhp configurations in Gran Turismo. It's not the lightest of the 90's Japanese sportscar (although the 300ZX is not much lighter either), nor the sharpest handler (NSX takes that honour) but I loved it. Glad the GT5 version does not look as crappy as other standard cars. Only have one in my garage currently. I am constantly trawling my UCD to pick up a few more of them.

Most popular would undoubtedly be the R33/4 Skylines. In the games, and real life. And rightly so. They are giant killing monsters.
 
NSX was revolutionary in many ways and if I could own one in real life, that would probably be it.

But, I'd love a Supra Mk IV, RX-7 FD, R33, Evo, STi also...

I do think the GTO/3000GT was too heavy and I wasn't a huge fan of the 300ZX styling.
 
The only ones I like are the NSX and Mazdas. Not really a fan of the others. I do really like the NSX and Wankels though.
 
The Supra, RX-7, and S14 Silvia do it for me. They're just great FR's. But, if I had to choose just one, it'd be the S14. It's very well balanced.
 
Nissan Skyline R32, R33 and R34, a very balanced series of cars with lotsa power under the hood.

Oh yes, the puma livery(good times), thanks for reminding me, 900bhp was alot, how much have you managed to pump out in GT5? The best i got was 300bhp from a 3000gt sr. You could argue that the R33 was the most notable of the rest, yeah.
 
The first 90's car that got my attention was the Lancer Evolution IV. To this day, I still love/want that car.
 
Supra and RX-7 are my faves. Although when I was 16 i loved the FTO for some reason!
 
I love them all, but my favorite is one that you have left out, The 1995 Honda Integra Type-R, one of, if not the best FF cars ever made.

And damn, sorry, how could i forget the integra, another awesome 90's Japanese sports car. Thanks for bringing it up. I agree, it was between that and FTO for me, for the FF cars. Also i forgot the mx-5.

I like all japanese cars from the 90s erra, and also some cars from the US. We will never see new cars that has the potential and price like the 90s again, due to the different emission laws, etc, etc, etc. I mean nissan gt-r cost like 85-90000 dollas, and still its the closest thing you come to 6 cylinder turbo cars that existed in the 90s. I bet if there would come out a new toyota supra, it would have a v6 twin turbo, or a n/a v8, and would cost about 85000 dollars. You see, it will never be the same as in the 90s, those cars are epic to me.
 
I'm partial to the STI myself... But how can we forget about the MR2? Great car as well.

I was in my late teens when the 300zx came out in 89. Man that car was just gorgeous when I first saw it. Then the NSX, Supra and RX7 dropped and just blew me away.

I'd have to say that the 300zx had the biggest impact on the auutomotive world out of all of them and made the modern automotive press take Japanese sports cars seriously again. I think the RX7 has the purest, best most timeless shape of all of them. The Supra has the best engine and overall performance out of all if them including the Skylines, GTO's etc. NSX had the best chassis setup and is still the only exotic out of all of the 90's Supercars.

Didn't like the GTO/3000 GT/Stealths as the were slow pigs stock but they looked ok and in the case of the GTO/3000 GT technologically advanced for the time. I discovered Skylines around 93 and fell in love with the R32 tough shape and have been a fan since.

Saying all that I'd have to say the best one to me, stock to stock would be the Supra. If the RX7 came with the 2jz it would have been the RX7 for me instead.

Got to love the 90's, Japanese cars were far better back then than the ugly crap we get today.
 
Personally, I think the 90's RX-7 (Spirit) and similar models are possibly the best looking cars ever made, go like stink in the game too. 👍
 
If they wanted, PD could probably put together a 'Japanese 90s pack' with some of these cars. Plenty to choose from that deserve the premium treatment.

I agree that DC2's were awesome, but its hard to argue that the DC5 ITR is not better in nearly every single way...and in a discussion about 'legacy' 90's JDM cars, it wouldn't be on my list simply because most of the great cars from that era have never received a true replacement...

same thing i would say about R34 skylines...As far as 90's JDM cars go, thats pretty much the beast. Its rare for most of the world, and sought after more than any other car from japan through that decade. But the newer GT-R's are better in nearly every possible way...Which has drastically cut into the R34's overall popularity.

its the RX-7's, NSX's, and Supra's that have never been replaced. They marked the end of that line-up for the time being, even though they ran into the 2000's before being discontinued.

My favorite would be a tie between late NSX's and late FD Rx-7's. completely different cars, one being a Japanese exotic almost, the other being a light weight rotary powered rocket with what is said to be the best steering feel in automotive history...both are nearly perfect for what they are, and it will be a very long time till either receives a new car built in its honor.
 
Have to agree with Shawtyoner... the Integra Type R is my favourite 90s Japanese sports car

We don't need all the different versions, either. Just one of the better ones, like the Type RA or 22B. Just like I was saying with the early Evos. We only need one good representative of that platform, like the III.

PD was on the right track, but I think they just ran out of time. We've only got one premium R32, R33 and R34. Then we have the Evo IV, IX and X. The VI TME is from the same platform as the IV, but I can forgive them for that.
 
I like any of the Mitsubishi GTO's. I remember that it was the first car I wanted to get in GT1 and the fact that it's heavy doesn't bother me at all.

I would honestly pay $10 for JUST a WRX STi/22b and the 1995 Group A car.

Favorite is obviously the GC Impreza, but I like the Supra and NSX alot too. Overall seem to like the style and such of '80s Toyota/Mazda etc more though.
 
R33 GTR! My favorite car in GT1, and still my favourite car in GT5 👍
So quick, tuneable and just a giant killer
 
As a former MKIII Supra owner, I have a bias...still one of the best looking sporty cars to me, I' d love to pick up a clean one in the future (but the wife still has bad memories of my monthly restoration/modification bill, lol)
