The AI is more broken than I thought...

I've added this race to my daily list of races that I grind for credits. With the amount of times that I've completed it, I've seen the AI do some pretty bizarre stuff. Never have I seen a pit lane blockade like this, good lord.
Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to the day that I finally see this happen, because knowing me, it will happen when I'm in need of new tires/more fuel lol

In mine, wilk never attempted to pit, so one can postulate it was not the resetting that caused this.

Also seen it on the WTC 700 lemans.
It was hazel that was effected by this bug then.

I see! Thanks for the info

Me neither, that would really suck

I have seen some bizarre stuff in this race.

In one race I did my stop together with the leader at lap 7-8 because of the rain. On the exit the leader was really, really slow. At that time I thought the AI changed to another set of dry tires, instead of raining ones. This happen a lot in other events.

I passed him and then I noticed everyone getting stuck behind. No idea why. First I thought he just was just spinning out of control because of the tires and there was a yellow flag going on.

So I watched the replay. The leader, with his tires completely gone, decided to NOT change tires at all. Yup. He didn't changed his tires, he simply continued with the same worn set of dry tires in a track that was already wet.

And the reason why every AI got stuck behind is because no one wanted to go to the wet part of the track, even though every AI by that point had intermediums or wet tires.

What do you mean? It's intelligent. It learned that bad things happen in the pit entry, "I'm not going in there again"

BTW I thought running out of fuel meant game over, but you can drive with 80kph ad idfinitum? What kind of nonsense is this? Or it only applies to the AI?
It applies to all since GT4(Where fuel first came into play)
Since its a game, you don't just splutter to a halt.
Heck you can't even beach yourself in the gravel trap that is sodden with water.

"But it's just a game" - yeah one that fancies itself a sim especially with this outing.

Sadly GT has a long way to go before it can call itself a "SIM"
If I ignore 3 blue flags I get a penalty, If I fail to leave 1 car gap when someone is beside me, I get a penalty.
If I T-Bone a car when I clearly could avoid it, I would be removed from the sport.

None of these apply to the AI.

Not unrealistict at all!
Last year Norris also choose not to change his tyres.
One can only wonder what could happen if that wasn't at the end of the race? 🤔

I was thinking the same thing. Why would Wilk ever pit again?! We saw what happens when he tries! Might as well skip it. Again. And again… He just hung his head and did the drive of shame, trying to get out of there unnoticed.

He didn’t count on the rest of the field drafting him at 80kph to save their fuel and tires as well…

A very interesting insight!

Now I must do this race more often (I was planning to this afternoon anyway) and see what the broken AI get up to!

stand off.
Maybe they were having a chat while they pulled over for the blue flag? Super considerate of them…

Man, this thread has given me some of the best laughs I’ve had in a long time! Keep the videos coming! Maybe we can shame PD into improving the AI. It makes wonder, though: in light of all these AI shenanigans, how bad must Sophy be if they aren’t using her yet?!

Keep the videos coming!
I see the AI do something stupid every few races, most dont really garner much attention to look into.
Its the bigger things that tend to stand out

I saw standoff as I drove by and wondered what happened there?
So looked into it.

With train derailment
I may or may not have had something to do with starting it

As for Wilk, he is Wilk.
I nearly Rear ended him

The sad part is that they announced the Sophy thing as the ultimate AI for racing, even beat the best e-racers and so on, just two weeks before GT7 launch...

But it isn't applied to the game and the AI is even worse than previous titles, even if that would seem impossible in recent past.

For me the worst are the licence tests and missions (the Fuji mission where you drive a GT-R GT500 and have to get first place against other Gr. 2 car and some Gr.3 cars) you pass cleanly the much slower AI cars and they just throw themselves to the corner as if you weren't there and clip you rear corner panel, you are DSQed because of the collision!

In this particular cases like the one of the original post, PD should have some kind of coding to ghost the car or retire it to the pits, as you have marshals and stewards in real life. Marshals would close the pit lane and remove the car if it was blocking it or simply remove the car out of fuel. Stewards would black flag or, at least throw a black and orange flag to the car dangerously limping on the track on wrong tires. Should be some measures on that matter

I wonder if the GT World Champions feel anything towards how they're portrayed by the AI.
I would not want my real name used by the AI in its current state, it would be an insult, even a lowest of E ranked players will swerve around you.

To be fair to the AI, if that happened the first time I tried to pit I would never want to go back either 🙈
But you're not the type that would floor it with slicks on a wet track, you would take it easy.

That's quite strange actually, the AI usually do take it really easy around the pitlane in the rain, you see them coming in/out of the pits at walking pace even when they have the right tyres, this one must've got overexcited somehow.

I'm sure they're proud to have their names in the game. I know I would be. Yah, the AI can be stupid and slow, but if PD wants to use my name I formally give them permission. lol.

The one weird thing that happened to me in the Spa 60 minuets race was the Viper GT3 in second place pitted after the rain when the track dried up for racing softs only to pit the next lap again to change for another set of racing softs. In both cases the car did not refuel.

The hell?

I too have seen this.
They pit don't fuel just change tires, only to pit again next lap.
