I've been here. This place is actually uber-cool, it's located on the top of a mountain, and it overlooks a huge part of southern Bulgaria. It used to be the only real structure on the particular hill it was placed on but now there is a windfarm next to it so it doesn't look as eerie.

Apparently the Mississippi River does too when it meets the Gulf of Mexico.

I'd guess all freshwater rivers do that when they meet saltwater bodies of water, though.
