25 years ago, on the 50th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, 2 million people formed a 650km human chain across Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as a peaceful demonstration for the independence of the Baltic states from the Soviet Union. This protest was one of the earliest and longest unbroken human chains in history.
Each light represents a road death in Great Britain 1999-2010. The big clusters are obviously in large cities and places where crashes are more frequent. Morbid but interesting; feel free to remove if it's too much.
Liquid nitrogen... 3 second exposure i think.. It's over the base of a basketball hoop, with three lovely different types of grass (I tried it with a CPL and this was the only working angle)
and the second one was just a hawk outside my door...
Detail from an image I collected on the microscope at work earlier today... the substance in question is a pure alcohol (butanol) and the saltire pattern is the result of using a polarizer.
You're right about it being cool though... -133°C to be exact!
