Australia's biggest motorsports event is here and Ford (FPV) and Holden are ready to battle it our to see which make is best!!!

Hello everyone. It's me, Nitro. OK, I'm known for cancelling events like his at the last moment, but i can assure you that I can have thought long and hard about this one and I am sure that you will all enjoy this, which means there will be no cancellations. So first off, here are the two cars which you can choose from:

FPV GT

Holden Commodore SS

Now here is the list of mods which you must do to either one of these cars:

FPV GT

Racing Exhaust
Racing Brakes
Brake Controller
NA Stage Level 3
Port Polish
Engine Balancing
Racing Chip
Racing Transmission
Triple Clutch
Racing Flywheel
2-way LSD
Carbon Driveshaft
Racing Suspension
Racing Tyres (any kind)
Stage 1 Weight Reduction
Body Stiffening (roll-cage)
Oil Change
6kg of ballast (added in setup)*
3D Wing Type D (black, grey or white)

Holden Commodore SS

Racing Exhaust
Racing Brakes
Brake Controller
NA Tune Level 3
Port Polish
Engine Balancing
Racing Chip
Racing Transmission
Triple Clutch
Racing Flywheel
2-way LSD
Carbon Driveshaft
Racing Suspension
Racing Tyres (any kind)
Body Stiffening (roll-cage)
44kg of ballast (added in setup)*
3D Wing Type D (black, grey or white)

* The reason why both cars need ballast is so that they both have the same Power-to-Weight Ratio. You MUST NOT alter the ballast at all after adding the required amount. Your car must stay at that weight for the whole season.

Race Weekend Format

Thursday: Thursday is the Practice Session, where you do as many laps as you want and post your best time. You are allowed to discuss split times, but you must PM me your lap time. Splits are not required in your PM

Friday: Friday is the "Top 10 Shootout". The top 10 fastest times from Thursday will then go head-to-head. The fastest driver will ge the honour of "Pole Position" (not that it matters!) and will also recieve 3 bonus points for his troubles. Drivers in the "Top 10 Shootout" will have to PM me their lap time, but you are allowed to discuss split times.

Saturday/Sunday: Saturday and Sunday are the two "Race Days". I will find suitable races for us to run in and the task is to just do that race two times (or as many times as you like, i'm not fussed!) and then PM me your two best race times. On this occasion, you are allowed to post your fastest race lap. Saturday will be for Race 1 and Sunday will be for Race 2. Post your corresponding race times on those days (i.e. race 1 time on Saturday etc.).

EDIT: In between race weekends, you are allowed to test at any of the circuits on the calender to improve your driving technique or to find the right setup.

Points System

The points system is based on the real-life version in the V8 Supercars. If you don't know how it works, then here is the points scoring table:

1st: 64 pts
2nd: 62 pts
3rd: 60 pts
4th: 58 pts
5th: 56 pts
6th: 54 pts
7th: 52 pts
8th: 50 pts
9th: 48 pts
10th: 46 pts
...and so on. The points go down in twos, and go all the way down to 32nd, where you would score 2 points. for the Bathurst 1000, the points go like this:

1st: 192 pts
2nd: 186 pts
3rd: 180 pts
4th: 174 pts
5th: 168 pts
6th: 162 pts
7th: 156 pts
8th: 150 pts
9th: 144 pts
10th: 138 pts
...and so on. This time, the points go down in sixes, and again go all the way down to 32nd, where you would score 6 points.

EDIT: Just like in real-life, drivers must drop the points from their worst round up to and including Round 9 (Bathurst) after Round 9 has finished, so for example, if your worst finish was in Round 5, then the points you scored in that race will be dropped.

Rules

Here are the rules which you must follow when racing in the Practice Session, Top 10 Shootout or Race Days. They are the same as the WRS, but in case you don't know them, or have forgotten them, here they are:

No wall touching!
Two wheels on the track at all times!
(Rumble strips are considered part of the track)
No hybrids
No cheating of any kind
You may setup your car how you wish, but NO N.O.S (Nitrous Oxide) is allowed.

OK, I think that's it for now. If I do/or have forget/forgotten any thing, I will add it to this first post. I will setup a "Sign-Up" thread, so I can put your names down. Please make sure you read this thread before you decide to enter. I will remind people of that at the top of the "Sign-Up" thread. Oh, and one more thing:

You can setup your own team. You may run by yourself or you can run a two-car team with somebody else. You must give yourself a number(s) and a teamname when you decide to enter.

Bye for now!!!

EDIT: Please put the links to both the Info and Sign-Up threads into your sigs if you are competing. That way, we can get more people to join and the competition will be much better! DO IT NOW!!!

This is what I would like you to put into your sigs:

"The Australian V8 Supercar Series - Sign Up Now!!!" Info thread Sign-Up thread

thanks!

EDIT: Had to change some of the venues because in GT Mode, some tracks either have races which are too short or don't have a race at all!

EDIT 2: I've just been having a little think and I have decided that all you guys would need a way to relax after a long season, so at the end of the series, I've decided to hold a drag event!!!

Hey. This looks like a bit of fun, and a challenge. Good chance for me to improve my car tuning skills.

I have a few questions though. First, if you do sign up, is it mandatory to race? And second, do you need to submit replays, seeing how I don't own a replay device.

hi ejr_1, nice to see you expressing some interest. now to answer your questions.

1) no, it is not mandatory to race, but if you do miss some races, then your chance of winning the title will decrease!

2) no, you do not have to submit replays. I would prefer it of you submitted a picture of the results screen with your race times.

Ok. Thanks.

I was wondering about the mandatory racing thing because I'll need a new disc - mine has a scratch and I can't load the wheels shop or the wings shop - which blows ass. So if I took a digital camera and took a pic of the time, that would count?

yes that would be absolutely fine, mate. if you would like to sign up, please do so in the Sign-Up Thread, which has now been set up. Please follow the instrustuctions in the first post of that thread.

I'm in.

*EDIT* - You should put up the code you want people to have in thier signatures. That way everybody can have the same format. :)

I dont mind joining this! sounds like a good idea you got here mate 👍
I might have a problem with the nitro, since in v8s supercar racing, in australia they dont use nitro.... :indiff: at least to my knowledge, BATHURST 1000 today :)

You've sparked my attention. I see that this is a loooooong season as well. I'd like to sign up. Jase, do you want a teammate?

i've advertised this series on both RSCnet and forzacentral. maybe you guys could advertise this on other related forums as well. I want as many competitors as possible...well at the least 32, but i would like more than that!!!

Why do you want a minimum of 32? And if there are not 32 people, are you going to blow this off? I hope not. We can have a lot of fun and good competition with like 10people already..

Umm, I was looking at this and thought, what are we going to do about oil degredation? Are you going to leave it permanant. If so then we can't do testing or we loose HP. I think thats a good idea.

I bought the Holden yesterday. What a handful. Fun to drive though.

32 people? Yeah, if I were you i'd lower my expectations. Not to mention that the more people that sign up, the more people that aren't going to race or miss deadlines.

I'd sign up but I leave for the JASDF in March.

no, i'm not gloing to blow this off, because I said that i would do this series no matter what. i only said that i wanted 32 because that is the where the points go down to (32nd - 2pts). we don't have to have that number to do the series.

just to answer another question, i will allow 1 oil change per race.

Next time buddy 👍

Why did you put up the Supercharger?? When you put it on it goes from 651BHP to 612BHP.. Yes/No?

In regards to supercharger then NA, you do realise you can only fit one or the other to the car for the race?? Why tell them to waste 13.5K on the supercharger??

People, just buy the NA for either car ONLY.....it's more powerful and you don't waste money that way!! :)

BTW, can I be a 2 team owner?? :D I've got all 3 Aussie road cars (SS, Typhoon, GT), so I would like to own a Holden team AND a Ford team!! :trouble:

Mafs!!

well, i see no harm in that. as long as you are not driving for both teams, otherwise that would be unfair. you must have another two other drivers and both teams must be against each other and not play team games, otherwise that would be classed as cheating and unfair to the rest of the teams. they must also have different names.

Why do we need both NA tune 3 and a Supercharger? After the supercharger HP goes down quite a bit?

nitro_2005
ok, ok, i'll change the first post a bit so you are all happy!!!
I see you've worked hard to get the weight of the two cars the same, is the power output identical between the Ford and the Holden?

the power output of both cars are 3hp apart, so yes they are very alike

FPV GT: 687HP
Holden Commodore SS: 684HP

see?

So the Holden should get a slight weight advantage then? Maybe 1 or 2Kg so the power-to-weight ratios are identical?...

brnout89
wot about gear ratios the real series has set ratios?
And a control tyre... ;)

:nervous: This could get really technical - Nitro_2005 needs to draw the line somewhere.

Agreed there Shockwave. I myself am better with a slight bit of ASM and normal TCS (6,6,5) and everyone has their preferences.

As for the fact there is a 3hp difference between them, I wouldn't worry about that and concentrate on the torque levels of both cars to see if they are similar aswell. Nitro, can I get a figure of the torque figures (in Nm + ft/lb thankyou) so we can see if there is a need to give a 2-3kg advantage to the Commonwhore!!

Remember, torque = acceleration.....power = top end ability

Mafs!!
