I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread to see how fast you can get around the Nürburgring on a budget :).

RULES:

1. The car used must have UNDER 200hp.

2. The car must have less than 20'000 Cr spent on it (including price of the car itself).

3. Modifications are permitted as long as you dont go over the 20'000 Cr budget.

4. Nitrous is NOT allowed.

5. Must show proof (picture or video).

6. No corner cutting- must be a moderately clean lap.

7. Also specify modifications on the car and how much spent. (We dont want cheaters after all do we?)

8. Also for fair lap times I must ask that driving aids need to be OFF.

9. Mandatory oil change before racing to have a more accurate power figure. (if that makes sense ;))

I think this will be great for novice GT4 players aswell as the pros because you dont need to spend silly amounts of money to have a competitive car. :D

Here is what I started off with...

Car used: Toyota MR2 G-Limited Super Charger '86: 7349 Cr
Gt Wing: 1200 Cr
Oil Change: 50 Cr
Weight reduction: 1100 Cr
Sports Suspension: 3100 Cr
Racing chip: 1250 Cr
Race Flywheel: 1000 Cr
NA tune up: 4700 Cr

__________________________
Leftover: 251 Cr
Cost of car overall : 19749 Cr

I know I know its not very quick but im not the best at GT4 and that was just my second lap of practicing with this car :)

Have fun!

The url tags here start off with then the http, then the close tag ...y be better served in the Spot Races section.

"1. The car used must have UNDER 200hp."

Under 200bhp before or after modding?

I might get into this, 20,000cr is pocket change to me :p

This is a great Idea. I'm definately going to do this. I'm just can't decide what car to use. I'm thinking about a Miata because it's really light, comes with like 160hp, and it's easy to drive.

VTiRoj: I'm pretty sure it's 200hp with upgrades installed.

Hmm, okay, thanks. Guess I'll roll in a '93 Silvia Q's. 160bhp standard. Should be fairly quick with some small mods.

Last Q: Wheels dont add towards performance, so am I right in assuming they wont count against the budget? :sly:

Time to grab a calculator methinks

You can use any modifications except from nitrous and aslong as you dont exceed the 200hp and the 20 000 Cr limit :D

200hp is somewhat vague in this game. Should we assume that is after changing oil and break-in? Perhaps you should require that people do an oil-change? (A mandatory Cr50 towards the Cr20,000). Or can it be 200hp with an engine full of 6000 mile molasses?

Toyota MR2 G-Limited '97...8,259cr
Oil Change...........................50cr
Racing Flywheel................1,000cr
Semi-Racing Suspension.....7,200cr
Stage 1 weight Reduction...1,100cr

Left over.........................2,391cr
Total Cost......................17,609cr

The time says 8'51.260 if you are having trouble reading it.

This car is right at 199hp with just an oil change.

Are we allowed to do more than one car because I think I might be able to beat this time in one of the Civics I have. Also are you going to make a leaderboard sliderman?

Well I was guessing that most of the 200hp cars for under 20 grand were used and therefore been broken in.. yeah a mandatory oil change sounds reasonable i will just put it in the rules. :)

Nice one! im trying to get my MR2 in the 8 min bracket at the moment but its handling like a dog im trying to sort it out, plus my wheel is a load of rubbish the throttle keeps going wierd and only let me use half throttle so i have to keep recconnecting the wheel :(. Im still giving it my all though!

What wheel?

If its a DFP, then talk to me.

I'll have a look around later for a car to try.

:irked:👍

I would bet if you just sit down and run 4 or 5 laps you could run a 8'55.xxx easily. I also would bet I could run a 8'45.xxx in my MR2 if I practice alot.

Can we do more than one car?

No it isnt a DFP :(
its some rubbish wheel I dont even know the name of it but ahh well it does the job (almost)

Get a car and good luck mate!

I have my car.

Nissan Silvia Q's AERO (S14) '93 - Cr.10,595
Oil Change - Cr.50
Sports suspension - Cr.3,000
Chip - Cr.1,000
Stage 1 NA Tuning - Cr.4,600
Semi-racing flywheel - Cr.500
Total - Cr.19,745
Money left - Cr.255

BHP: 182

Are wheels excluded from the budget? Because I'd happily exchange the flywheel for some wheels :p

Off to the Nurburgring I go.

Yeah im hoping to get into the 8's.

Thats fine you can use as many cars as you want aslong as it fits the criteria :)

Good choice :).
The wheels dont effect the performance so I guess it doesnt matter if you buy wheels.

Great :D I asked because in other budget challenges I have entered, wheels were actually included.

Edit: First lap and I got a 8'37.058, I absolutely love this car! Once I put a few more laps in I'll post a proof picture.

Nice work for a first attempt. I can see lots of potential in your s14 it sounds like your onto a winner! Keep it up im looking forward to seeing those pics 👍

Getting to know Silvia some more. Exploring her limits, almost lost it a couple of times. But I did manage to keep her on the road for a couple of laps.

8'34.043

I know I can hit 8'30 dead, it'll just take a load of practice.

I have a feeling its possible for the Silvia.
My MR2 is reaching its limits but i know I can get a few more seconds off. Just gotta find a way to stop it squirming under heavy braking because it keeps making me spin or slow right down just to stop it from spinning, my car can be a pig sometimes but overall its great :D

Those old MR2s are little buggers on the limit, I have a tuned one on S3's and even though I've tried all I can setup wise, it just loves to wiggle its little arse during braking. Its actually quite cute.

Which is why I chose the Silvia over one of the lighter, more powerful, short wheelbased cars. Its naturally more stable, so I can focus on whats ahead and not where my rear end is. Not to say the Silvia doesnt have its moments, where I scream, take my hands off the wheel and pray I dont nail the barrier at 110mph!

I have noticed that :D. I just did another lap.. 2 seconds slower this time but with hardly any mistakes.. I think its just because I have now found out this car works well with lift off oversteer but I think i have been going too hard into the corners and slowing myself down. :( I think this time I will be able to beat my 8'41!

[[UPDATE]]

I just did a 8'31.895!
More brave in the corners and less aggressive did the trick :D
8'30 is just around the corner!

Tried this really nice challenge with my wrs div3 handicap (not good :)) in the Mitsubishi FTO GPX '94 that has 178hp in the catalogue but 197hp in the garage and 200hp after oil change. Is that ok or above? :scared:
If so there's another one i can try with less hp ...
Weight: 1170/1099 after wr1/1064 after wr2
11435 cost of car
00050 oil change
01100 wr1
01200 wing
05300 wr2
00550 semiracing flywheel
19635 total

First run (not so clean) without wr2 and the flywheel: 8.59.790
Second run (sort of clean) with wr2 and the flywheel (wtf?): 9.00.230

If the car's not permitted i'll try in the cheaper and lower-hp version of it. It's actually quite a cool drive for FF and that old.

OOPS I might have overread about the aids. The nine minute lap was with TCS at 1 I'm afraid ... so let's hear about the 200hp issue and I'll give it a rego 👍

200bhp is the limit, so if your bang on 200bhp, your fine I think.

Well, i bought an EK Civic type R '97 for cr 9990.
Changed the oil cr 50
Fitted a racing chip cr 1000
A semi racing exhaust/filter cr 2800
Polished the Ports cr 5000
Took the back seats out cr 1000
and washed it cr 50.

I make that cr 19,890.
or cr 110 left.
I ended up with 199 BHP.

I lapped twice, and got 8'26.175 (I'll post up a pic if requested, or the full replay in .Max format)

Not bad for an FF car.

This would be more fun in something FR though, so i'll have another look/go later.

Good luck all

Yeah a pic would be needed. Just so I can make the time official. Well done. i was thinking about a Type R but when my MR2 came along I knew it would be good so i had to have it :D

Yeah remember that ALL driving aids must be OFF. :)
200hp is bang on so it doesnt matter so your car can still take part.
Good luck and WELCOME TO THE BNC!
