Tell us the most exciting sports cars you have ever driven, or rode as a passenger in. Then share a little of the experience!

#1. Dodge Viper
#2. 1970 or 71 Plymouth 'Cuda
#3. 2000 Mustang GT

Last summer I drove a Dodge Viper with 480hp, unfortunately I never got it out of 2nd gear:banghead: because the owner hinted that I should stay in the neighborhood. It sure had some nice torque and meaty engine sound though.

My work buddy and I talk about racing games and he finally asked me to come for a ride in his 'Cuda. That thing had way more power than it's traction could handle. He took it 0-60 for me on a side road and just slowed down in time to make a corner. It had the loudest roar of any car I have been in.

The first time I got to ride in a 'Real' sports car was in the 2000 'Stang GT. I had a out of control buddy, that pushed shopping carts with his car (Not the Mustang, thank goodness!), cheated on peoples wives:censored: and bought a car with someone else's wife.:scared:  He took me around a 25mph posted corner at 70mph while passing a car and I didn't hear a squeak of the tires. It held the road like a glove.

Wow a Dodge Viper. I am jealous. I owned a '67 Mustang coupe for 5 years.....bought it when i was 18 right outta high school and you can see a pic of it over in the real-life car thread. Wish i still had it...you can't get those anymore for just $1,200 unless it's rusted or beat to ****. I used to be in hte habit of going out on country roads without a map to guide me and seeing if i could find my way home. One nite i was driving along at 70 or soemthing and all the sudden i see a car in front of me going across the road. OH SH#T I DON'T SEE A STOP SIGN. And sure enuff there was an intersection right in front of me. Slammed on the brakes, did a 180° turn in pitch black darkness...glad there was no other cars coming that way.

Yeah, and i can't forget all the amateur street racing i did...on public streets :O Seems like every other week i'd pull up to a stopsign or light and some guy in a Camaro or Chevelle would wanna drag me. One time i even got some guy in a Yugo who was racing me on a sidestreet!

Fast cars, eh??? Well, I never really owned one, my first being an '81 Civic wagon 1.3L 3bbl. However, I have been in some fast cars, even driven them.

First, I will tell you about a few vehicles I had the pleasure of riding in during test drives ( I was a salesman at local Ford dealer).

Had an interesting experience with one customer testing out a 2000 Mustang GT. It had a 5-speed, and traction assist, and still this guy was able to lay smoking tracks between first 3 gears. It had a SWEET stereo system too!

Best drag ride was a 2000 Ford F-150. HA HA HA you say? This was the SVT Lightning model, witha supercharged 5.4L V-8 making 303 hp@4750 rpm and 365 lb/ft of torque at 3750 rpm- according to this test-(see this link for a dyno chart http://www.hypertech-inc.com/images/dynocharts/fsvtlight5.4sc00.pdf ).Factory claimed 380 hp and 450 ft/lb of torque, and road tests got 0-60's in about 6 secs with a 4spd auto, cuz they didn't have a manual truck tranny that could handle the torque. We took it out on a short side street (less than 2-3 blocks long) and pegged about 80-85 mph with time to stop, I guess in about 1/8 mile. I wanted to go again!! Here is another link to the first drive of a 2001 Lightning. http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/2001/ford/lightning/first_drive.html

As for driving, has to be a 1994 Dodge Stealth (Mitsu 3000GT for us GT2 ppl). This was not even the top-notch RT-10 model, just the base, but still had MASSIVE torque. It was a bachelor party group, and orig. the groom and his bro (best man) were in the groom's Stealth. The other 5 guys were in a '91 Mercury Cougar XR-7 (supercharged 3.8 V-6). The 2 guys were always bragging about which one was fastest, so when we pulled up to stoplight after the first titty-bar, the guys decided to drag. Just b4 it went green, we in the Cougar saw the police cruiser pull up behind the Stealth at the light, but we couldn't get their attention in time. The smoke off the tires was so thick , he was gone 1/2 a block before he could even see the blue lights through the fog. After a long ordeal ( he had an open case of beer in back too), they let him go, but from that point on I was designated driver, since I was the only one not drinking. YYEEEEAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! This car had so much torque, if you dropped the clutch at anything over 1200 rpm, you were burning rubber. But once you got it straight in the road, boy would she fly!!!

Ok, that was a long story, but I thought you guys might enjoy it.

My BMW 850CSi, 528HP Twin Turbo V-12 with Big Brake Kit etc........ Rides fantastic and Massive torgue, I call it my Masterpiece, It now has 20x11 inch rear wheels and a 3:91 Rear end, A real 8 Series Screamer!

I've not driven a lot of great cars, I've had a brief go in a TVR Tuscan though, that was awesome and a Westfield, they're the two best drives I've had. The TVR was more becuse I love TVR's so much, I didn't get long in it and I never tested the car in anyway but I got to drive the Caterham's leg's off.

#1 - Aston Martin DB5. A friend of my father was a lawyer, owned a condo in Barbados and this Aston Martin. Took it for a spin down the motorway my god what a beast! Shame it was raining.

#2 - Ford F-150 Harley Davidson Edition - While not being a car, this thing does shift quite well. Quite comfy also.

#3 - Vauxhall Vectra V6 - Not classified as a sports car I don't think but it goes!

and thats it, although I did sit in one of the VX Racing Astra Coupe Touring Cars from a few seasons ago to play ToCA Race Driver. It was on the VXR stand, you sat in the car and a huge projector TV showed the game screen.

When you played touring cars in the Astra VXR, was it at the VXR stand at the British Motorshow at the NEC arena in Birmingham back in 2003 by any chance?

Just wanted to ask you this...
When you played touring cars in the Astra VXR, was it at the VXR stand at the British Motorshow at the NEC arena in Birmingham back in 2003 by any chance?
I asked in the proper thread as well but figured I'd get a quicker response here.

Replied in PM also. It was in October 2002, but yeah at the NEC. I have a photograph of me in the car. lol
If I can get to a scanner I'll try scan the photo. I love the motorshow.

not really an expensive muscle car or anything like that, but i got a ride in a Evo VI GSR with 18 pounds of boost. after every stoplight, the car literally catapulted of the line forcing me back down in my seat as i was trying to see over the dash

My Grandad once has a Capri 2.8i (not a Brooklands unfortunately :( ) Damn did it shift. Lethal in the wet, but that's what his Defender 110 was for. :D

I've sat in the same Astra as Sting has, but it was at Silverstone. The wheel had no feel to it, so I kept over-correcting way too much. :(

We have a '98 Impreza estate, but it's not turbocharged and pales in comparison to some other cars here. Stil, it's pretty nippy. :)

1996 Corvette ZR-1 (with a few mods).

The owner was nervously riding with me, so I had to cool it, but using less than a quarter of the throttle travel, it was unbelievable.

(I've kept in touch with him. He has since had a C5 roadster, a C5 Z06, and he's now awaiting delivery on a C6 Z06. Must be nice...)

Haven't we done this already?

Rode in: 1960 Chevrolet Corvette convertible.

Driven: 2006 Dodge Charger R/T

Hmm...
Ridden:
'57 or '58 Corvette a half dozen years back,
Early '40's Cadillac
Camaro Z28

Driven: Miata (Hey, I'm only 17...)

A mate of mine had a sandwich year with TVR, so it would be rude not to visit, so when I got there the tamora was just finished, I've got pics of TVR 100. I got there at 11pm! the visit got better got taken for a spin in the Cerbera, and sat in a TVR speed 12 GT car and a TVR tuscan, as used in the one make series with the engine running and got to blip the throttle. It was also a bank holiday weekend and had a weekend on the lash in Blackpool, DOES IT GET MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably the best car I have ever driven (or funnest) was probably the Diablo VT Roadster. I never got to really drive it properly because it had so much power, but it was still the best.

Corvettes: C4 '88 Coupe, '93 T-Top, and '96 Gran Sport
C5 Corvettes, an '98 Indy Pace Car Convert and a '03 Z51 Coupe
One C6 Corvette, an '05 Magnaride Convert

One weekend with an '87 Porsche 911 Carrera S Convertable

One 1996 Viper GTS, ride and drive.

Ride and drive with a '32 Duce with Chevy 383 power

A 2000 Plymouth Prowler (BTW, worst ride along, ever).

Classics: My Dad's '68 Camaro with the '67 Corvette 327, My Grandfather's '69 Buick GS Stage 1 (I was only four or five at the time, unfortunatley)

Modern classics: My friend's '04 SVT Cobra, an '02 Camaro SS (ride and drive), '01 Honda S2000...

There was also some seat time in an '02 BMW M5, and a late model Ferrari 308 GTB, but the rides were so short they almost do not count... Its was pretty much just around the block rides with a friend who used to run an exoitc car dealer nearby, but nothing all that special.

#1 Lotus Elise. A good friend's parents recently bought a yellow one, and took us for rides. Although nothing too hairy, it doesn't take much to know that car handles well. But wow, what a harsh ride... :scared:

#2 Corvette C5 Z06. Granted, the driver only dared to go 85 on the freeway, but cool car none the less.

Besides those two, I don't see much really worth mentioning except for a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII MR...

I've had a couple of experiences, the best one in my opinion was in a '80s black Porsche 911, complete with whale tail spoiler. I was at my dads friends farm, and was walking through his barn when I saw a '67 Barracuda. The guy explained that he was a body man, and completely restored the car as a show piece. Of course I asked him for a ride, but he said no, which almost lead me to tears, when all of a sudden he tells me "you can take a spin in that if you want, but just to the truck stop and back" and points out the door to the Porsche. My heart skipped a beat, stopped, then beat out of control.

I can't remember what year it was exactly, but some guy had dropped it off for him to redo the body on it, and hadn't come back for it in over 1 1/2 years. The body was mint, but other then the seats, everything else in the interior was just kind of thrown in a pile on the floor. So I hopped in, took it easy out of the driveway, down to the corner where the truck stop was, and noticed some truckers and their fat wives looking at me as I pulled in, so I thought i'd give them something to see. So as I pulled out of the parking lot, I decided to give it, and thats when I found out the joys of driving a Porsche turbo. The first half second was fine, then the tires lit up as I turned so I let off to gain traction, turned to correct and ended up almost sideways on the highway. So after checking to make sure I didn't really drop a load in my pants, I drove back to the farm, only giving it in 2nd gear, and taking it up to around 140 kmh. Scariest, and greatest drive of my life.

The second best ride would have to be in my friends 94 TT Supra. Its putting out roughly 425hp, but since we never left the city, I could really only enjoy its targa top and a couple of high first shifts, which still left us speeding through town.

Sorry for the long message, but I just had to get it all in there

Ridden in:
R32 Skyline GTS-t sedan
R32 Skyline GTS-t coupe
R32 Skyline GTS-4 sedan (before i bought it)
S4 RX-7 Turbo

Driven:
R32 Skyline GTS-4 sedan (now my car)
S4 RX-7 Turbo (my youngest brothers' car)

Never been in anything faster. :(

I had a ride in a friend's Cobra rep, which sounded and felt fast - but actually wasn't, well not as much as it seemed.

I had a go in my step brothers last car, an S2 Elise 135R, which sounded very average and didn't feel that quick - but was!

I had a drive of his latest car, an Exige 240R, on Xmas day this year. it felt and sounded fast. :sly: It wasn't under the best conditions that i got to drive it in, i had a belly full of Christmas dinner, the roads were damp and greasy and it was getting dark. thankfully the roads were quite, except for the 'gritter' we came accross!

That Exige is ****ing fast! - i've never been in anything on the road that accelerates so fast (0-60 in 3.9, 0-100 in under 10!) its the sort of acceleration that distorts your vision, the sound of the supercharger (it sits less than a foot away from your head) is just manic. Infact i'd describe the whole experience as manic, the rawness of the car, the seemingly physics defying cornering ability and the intense engine sound (not a very pleasing sound) Quite how he manages to use it as an almost every day car is beyond me.

I'll be honest here. I've never driven a sports car but I have been given a ride in someones M3. Wasn't that comfortable, if you want comfort buy a Merc E-Class. M3 isn't much fun from the back.

Ah boys... the best job for a man thats a big fan of cars is... Valet.

I was a valet for a combined time of (over the last 5 years) 2.5 years.

Let see I have driven:
1. Ferrari F50
2. Ferrari Maranello
3. Dodge Viper
4. Pretty much every Porshe Americans own. (various years)
5. Lotus's
6. Vettes
All of the luxury vechiles available in America. Typical ones.
Every typical sports car that is available in America.

Most of these were driven at Portofino Hotel at Universal Orlando, a Golf Club in Lake Mary, and a Bed and Breakfast (wedding receptions) in Downtown Orlando.

Good Job, Good Money, Nice Cars. Keep your driving record clean, and you could do the same thing. Oh and a Class D driving license doesn't hurt either.

Since I am on the subject, I'll share a Valet story. At Portofino I once got a call down, meaning a guest called from his/her room for his/her car to waiting for them by the time they get downstairs. So knowing this was a call down, I figured I had a couple min. Most of the time, call downs are pains. You have to keep your keys on your belt, so you can go get that tip. Most people take forever to come down. So like I said,I thought I had a few min. and I walked to the car in the garage. I got to the garage, and found out that the BMW keys I was holding were the keys to a brand new Black M3. Brand new. Big smile. I took this car for a "run" I went out the long way, using the far exit of the garage, putting me furthest away from the ramp. (Ramp = Front door of the Hotel) So I floored it, up the drive towards the ramp. Got threw 4 gears. Probably around 60mph.
I pull up, park it off to the side, expecting the guest to come down later. This guy walks over to me, and asks, "You like that car?" I respond, "Of course, you see it, its a M3. One of favorite cars to drive." he responds, "You looked like you having fun." I say, "I was." finally he says, "Can I take it now?" we at the window now, I was about to get another car. I look at him, and see he has a ticket in his hand and a 5 dollar tip. I ask stupidly, "Is that yours?!" he says proudly, "Yes, I got it two days ago." I then begin to say sorry, I run over to his car, open it for him, start it again, the typical valet thing. He insists that it was ok, and that was the reason he fell in love with the car as well.
Most embassing moment in my Valet career. He was cool about it.

I suppose the coolest car i have been in was when i was riding shotgun in my Friends Dad's BMW M3 - awesome experience!! :p

Also driven my Aunt's X5 :D

While Valet may be the best job for that...working at a car dealership is a close second.

Working in our new car showroon, I was able to drive ALL of our new cars and also had to take trade-ins across the street to our used car lot. Eventhough it was across the street, it was not a simple matter of crossing traffic. My dealership is on a major road with a island in the middle. I had to take it down, around the back a few blocks to get here......
The dealership sells Mercedes and I worked in the showroom from 1996-1998. I have driven every model we have had during that time, including C43,C36,E55,SL600,SL500....those are great cars!

As for trade-ins, I have driven a little of everything. The one car I would not drive was a Ferrari (I don't know what model it was). I was new there and did not know how to drive a stick, so I rode with my co-worker who took it to the used car lot.
Our used car manager drove a Porsche 911 for a while and I got to drive that a few times (after I learned to drive a manual trans) which was cool since I didn't even work in used cars....

But the best time I had was also in a Miata. Customer bought a new Benz but needed someone to drive his Miata home for him. So one night, a saleman took his demo and I followed him to the customer's home. 25 miles, a bit a highway between dealership and the house and it was a stick. That ride was so great!

at last but not least...since I still work at the dealership, I have seen, touched, and sat in an SLR. I've seen a customer drive his from the dealership and burned rubber while doing it almost fishtailing into the curb. And since we have one in the showroom, I get to see and touch one everyday (until we sell it) - the fascination hs kind of worn off now though.

ok...a little long winded, but I'm done now.

Driven and riden in quite a lot - 993 Carrera 2.

It belongs to a friend and we went away for a driving weekend to wales. Quality.
