Some things you can never be sure of. Times before, I've said the Corvette C6 was going to kill the C5 in terms of styling. I've thought the C5 and latest ZO6 (heard of a "ZO6" in the past, but yet to clarify) were among some of America's sexiest cars of the modern era. Even if you don't like American cars, you have to admit the C5 and ZO6 were quite eye-catching. I'm not attacking tuner car fans, but the C5 and ZO6 could make a statement without being too flashy or flamboyant. With the C6 coming out, the legacy of the Corvette will continue on, more than 50 years running. And next year, the debut of the Corvette will be on the race track as the C6R will be made to further own (or as you all say, "pwn") the competition. The basis of my argument is that at one point, I thought the latest Corvette is pretty ugly. Later on, I gained respect for it. While horsepower is more important in American car culture, I'm not really sure as to whether to judge the C6 as a lovely car or an ugly one, a successor to the C5 or a disappointment to the C5, or anything like that. I'm really unsure how to judge the C6. But I'll begin.

As I said in a thread by GTPlanet Moderator Josh, I said that the headlights could have been based on the C5R. The front grill of the C6 looks... kind of alright. I thought the C6 seemed more mean than elegant, and I never really caught on to its overall apperance. When "AutoWeek" did a segment on it, I thought the car was pretty nice. I'm still pretty confused about it as a whole.

This is one of those "I don't know" cars. You know, one where you can't tell if it's a great car or a horrible one. Or in other words, mixed. Don't stir YOUR brain, though. Reply.

I would have preferred if they used the C5R style headlights. The hood could have also kept the traditional two humps. It seems a little rough at some angles. I think they could have done better on this one. It still remains my favorite car, but on the looks if I say gave the C5 100% the C6 would get 80% at the most. Maybe it will grow on me someday...

I don't like the idea of the push start button, especially for a sports car. But I think it's pretty solid on the performance side, improving over the C5 in handling and power.

Continuation of a legend. They improved the problems of the older one and presented it newer, with more HP, and a lower price. Awesome.

Edit - I couldnt help but notice that most of your gripes have nothing to do with the actual car itself, but the appearance of it. Kinda funny. I also felt like jumpin on that before M5 did...but who knows, maybe he hates the car too. Dont see why though, it's an awesome deal....and drop dead gorgeous.

I think it's a step on from the C5 for sure, more chiseled and purposeful although maybe not so american in my eyes. It's certainly quick round a track as Top Gear found out but I'd like to know more about it's on road performance before passing judgment. My main concern is the fact it still has leaf springs, Land Rovers dropped them 20 years ago!

I think GM needs to be a little more adventurous with the Corvette. There's too many 'nods' to previous models and not enough imagination put into doing something different. Chevy's 'flagship' model should stand-out more, like a TVR perhaps? Who knows, if they produce a really good-looking car they could even manage to sell a few units in other world-wide markets?!

I admit there are some problems with the styling of the car namely the headleamps (which aren't that bad), but overall the car is a completely different and improved machine than the C5. How can that not be a continuation of the legend?

The performance aspect of the C6 is certainly good, but the looks of it leave much to be desired IMO. Maybe it's the same problem I have with the new BMWs, it's not so much that it's ugly, it's that it doesn't look like a Corvette.

i love the new looks. it looks sharper and the headlamps are awesome.

back to the stingray days, down with the pop ups.

my favorite vette (aside from the old 60's of course)

all black Z06 with black tints..

looks like the Bat Mobile at night... that's a scary beast... wouldn't wanna see one in my rear view.... Awesome....

:odd:
All Corvettes since 1963 have had pop-ups, meaning that all Stingrays have pop-ups (unless, of course, they have been modified). So we're not going back to the Stingray days, we're moving away (which is good in some ways, bad in others). I personally liked the pop-ups on all Corvettes, I normally don't like this style, but the Corvettes look good with it.

As a corvette enthusiast, I should point out that all Sting Rays had pop-ups as well. Well, I'm twisted; Yes, it's moving forward and reamins the best American sports car out there, but, it has also lost some of its flava. Not the design, but, is the Corvette getting too refined?

I would much rather see it titled...Reinvention of a Martyr.......It's not that DRAMATIC of a change....But it will deffinately bring back the exclusivity of the Corvette, which it lacked greatly in the C5 model...... A little off topic...
The C5 Tiger Shark Corvette(just saw it today)...is a amazingly beautiful corvette..

I think that in all the technical aspects the Vette C6 is maybe the finest sports car to ever come out of detroit. Its a sure-fire continuation f the legend, and it will make it live even more as a legend as its performance rises the bar to new levels not only in the USA. The looks... well. I have to say, it looks like crap. From tip to toe. The aftermarket will take care of that faster than you can say SEMA (pop-up lamps! YEAH!) but I think that the ony weak point of this new vette are its questionable looks. As Shob said, its a pretty damn good deal and a freakingly good sports car.

I'm going to be honest. I never really liked pop-ups. Even with the lovely C5. I'm still thinking about a certain Corvette I loved the most. I know it was from the 50s or 60s. I'll look around.

I guess some of you agree that the C6's headlights should have been more like either the Lingenfelter Corvette, or the one based on a certain tuned 'Vette I seen on "Sports Car Revolution" once. Oops, hold on, hold on... alright. I love the 1963 Sting Ray 'Vette, and one of my other favorites is the 1959 Corvette. I think if you wanted to go retro, you could make the C6 bear the light style of the 1959 model, but make them more modern. In terms of all-out style,

There was one Corvette someone did up with the front lights of the very first model Corvette, but had the modern C5 body. I don't know who did it or how the rest of it looks, but I'll probably look around in the future.

The body is good, except for the headlights, IMO. The engin is the best part of it, but the C5 will always be my favorite.

I think they made a big mistake takin away the flip-ups :yuck: ...but other than that....it's still the great-performing machine (more like monster) that it's always been... 👍

The new C6 is fine. IMO, it's the New Mustang that lets the legend down.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I personally dont like the C6 looks compared to the C5...:O

Anyways, I notice something wrong when I read a magazine review on this. Road and track I think said it does a 1/4 mile in 13.2.... while that Driver magazine says it goes a 1/4 mile in 12.7 :odd: any ideas wuts wrong?
