As you may know, drivers will be fully animated for the first time ever. Also for the first time ever is the debut of open-top prototypes. With the "List of Manufacturers" thread, among them was Dome, Japan's answer to the European sportscars. The BMW prototype that won Le Mans in 1999 (over the good old TS020 featured in my current avatar) will probably be in GT4, based on E3. Of course, the Pescarolo Courage will be in the game. Speaking of which, it's nice to see Sebastien Bourdais freely advertising Gran Turismo 4. And let's not forget Le Mans probably with Gran Turismo 4 sponsorship on the Mulsanne straight on those two chicanes. And while Ferrari and Porsche won't be in the game, it would be VERY interesting to have the Audi R8 in GT4. I mean, why not? I think Panoz's lovely front-engined prototype should be in the game. How many front-engine LMPs do you hear of? Since they are front-engined, that means you can get all the speed and control of a regular front-engine GT, just much lighter and even faster. I think Panoz NEVER won Le Mans, but these machines are a joy.

It's the debut of LMP cars to the Gran Turismo franchise. Let's talk prototypes!

TS 020 is my 2nd favourite car, the Mclaren F1 will always be the best. But I would love to see them both up against the R8 and the Bentley Speed 8 2003, and now that would be something to behold... oh wait, not to mention the once dominating Merc CLK-LM

I'm thrilled to see LMP's finally in GT, it's the one thing that's been missing for me, being a big LM fan. I can remember searching box credits and sites desperately for an Audi R8 in previous games.

Seeing the Panoz would be a nice inclusion but the car's never stood out - they've never won anything all that important, so perhaps they've been overlooked. But by that logic, the Audi R8 is one of the most successful cars ever, and we haven't seen it yet, either. I'd love to see a Crocodile skinned Audi R8 (as raced in the 2000 Adelaide Race of a Thousand Years ALMS event) to compete with the colour of the Pescarolo.

As with all things GT, the more the merrier. I can't wait to try the CLK-LM/GTR (whatever you prefer), that's another car I've long desired, especially after it appeared in NFS.

I'm curious to see if the McLaren F1 is actually faster than the TS020 and some of the other cars, my gut feeling is it won't be.

Le Mans Prototypes are amazing vehicles. But I was hoping on seeing the Cadillac LMP03 in the game. Since that was the cars last year, I rether see it on the track than most vehicles. If the Audi R8 appeared in GT4, that'll prolly be the fastest racing car in the game. The Audi R8 has proved that no-one can reach their level at le mans for 3 now. In 1999 the original Audi R8R made its debut at Le mans, it was quick but not quick. That next year, When I was at Sebring of 2000, I wondered what the hell were those cars. It clearly came to me that it was indeed that R8R Evolution, the R8. It proved its dominace by being a Micheal Shumacher on every course. It was amazing. And look even toay, The R8's don't have Factory support and yet they are still dominating.

The Bentley speed 8 beat the R8. And even if both were in GT4 the F1 type cars would kick there asses on the track.

The R8 is an LMP car, the Speed 8 is an LMR car, they both have the same restrictions exept the LMP cars have no roof and wider tyres the LMR cars have a roof and narrower tyres but they are meant to compete against each other.

So it's LMR vs LMP. I need to look at more races. But what about Groups C cars? I have seen some with 788hp, more than an LMP car. Are they fast than LMP's? And were the CLK_GTR, GT one and R390 in the LMR class?

Edit: The R390 and GT 1 are in the GT class.

I thought one of the rumors doing the rounds for GT4 was that LM Cars would be the "surprise" in the same way that GT3 had F1 cars...... I'd be very surprised if the Panoz won't be in GT4 especially as KY said that all previous cars from GT, GT2 and GT3 would be in GT4. I'd also be very surprised if the Le Mans track wasn't included considering the GT4 advertising during the actual 24hr race.

LeMans is doubtful. The ACO is rather anal about licensing their name and their track out for video games. In fact the only video game I can think of to feature LeMans is the official 24 Hours of LeMans game series.

But why not let PD do the track right? Seeing how well they have rendered real-life tracks in the past(Laguna Seca, Monaco).

Wrong, the Bentley EXP Speed 8 was a Le Mans Prototype.

Technically you're both wrong. The Bentley EXP Speed 8 fit into the "LMGTP" category from 2001 - 2003. LeMans Grand Touring Prototype, a combination of GT car with LMP.

This is the same category that the Toyota GT-One ran in for 1999 (after running in GT1 category in 1998).

For 2004 the LMGTP category has been eliminated and now they all fit under "LMP1".

Actually, I'm right. At Sebring 2003, when the Bentley's raced. They were under the class "LMP900." During that year, at Le Mans they were "LMGTP." But the way L4S classified is "LMR" there was no such class at LeMans.

That's wrong too. The Panoz Esperante GTR1 is still in use and has been entered into this years 24 Hours of LeMans as a LMP1 (it was an LMGTP for the LeMans 1000km last year).

But the Bentley is indeed an LMGTP, especially since LMP900 rules are slightly different from LMGTP. They merely classified the Bentley as an LMP900 because there was no other competition in its class.

That Panoz was a big hit at Sebring 2004, it had one hell of a crowd around its paddock area.

But you are right there, the Bentley is indeed a LMGTP, and once you are right because Sebring didn't have a class for it anyway, so they really just threw a LMP900 sticker and said, You are in the class, go. But! After the Bentley EXP Speed 8 was on the Audi R8 chassis, engine, and etc, I still think its a LMP900 car just because of that. But it afterall was a couped prototype, so therefore its classified as a LMGTP!

End of that, we went off topic there.

I'm not too concerned over the appearence of some LMP cars in GT4, since they already have a few in GT3, and my favourite one, the 787B is confirmed for GT4(rotary power!). I'd rather see some different race series included. Vintage F1 cars and Can Ams are at the top of my list.

They did mention the inclusion of Chaparrel, who did make CanAm cars, but its possible they'll have his other cars instead.

Yep it's LMGTP (which I called LMR by mistake) v LMP, the CLK-GTR was a GT1 as was the Toyota GT-One and the Nissan R390 and also there were GT1 versions of the McLaren F1 GTR (they all had at least 1 road version of the race car), the old group C cars were very fast but I dont think they are as fast round a circuit as cars like the Benley Speed 8.

There are no LMP cars in GT3, there are GT1 cars and the 787B which is a group C racer but no LMP's unless the group C cars can be called that, but even then the 787B would be the only one.
