Current status: 45 / 86 races beaten (47 on Normal). Best driver: @ROCKET JOE (23 wins)

So, as we all know, for most cars Polyphony add during content updates, they also add a race in World Circuits to demonstrate that car. Some of these are very easy to win in that car. Some of these can be nigh-impossible to do so (sometimes deliberately so, such as the Kei races; sometimes less so, like the Unimog's race). A couple of these you can't even enter stock (looking at you, Xiaomi in the WTC600). This thread is a fun community challenge so we can figure out just how many of these races are winnable with the stock version of the car that newer players will ostensibly think they are "supposed" to be using for it

For the avoidance of doubt, the races on this list are the ones that have specific opponent dialogue focused on the car. If a race is for multiple cars in a single update (eg WTC600 at Road Atlanta), that race has multiple rows, one for each car.

The rules of this thread are: post a screenshot of you winning the specified race in the specified car. It needs to be the second screen with the track in the background, so we can verify the PP is stock in the top bar. If you're the first person to beat the race, you get added to the table as the champion of that race. Whoever gets the most gets the "best driver" shoutout at the top of this OP.

If I missed any races, let me know. One makes, like the original Jimny Cup races for the kei Jimny and the Super Formula races, are deliberately skipped so we don't have to do all of them.

Races in strikethrough you legally can't bring the cars to due to PP limits.

This is an awesome idea. I appreciate the effort it would've taken to put it together.
Some of these are absolutely going to be impossible stock but the fun is in the trying!

First on the board:
1773509678074.webp

Side note, I love this thing comes in at pretty much 600pp bang on stock.

Just going to edit any additional ones below til more entries come in:

Fisherman's Ranch - 4WD 600
1773510498805.webp

Colorado Springs - WRC Gr.B
1773511167214.webp

Brands Hatch - European FR 550. Wonderful car to drive this.
1773515730203.webp

Blue Moon Bay - Japanese FF 450.
Comes in a hair over 450 so another easy one.
1000091455.webp

Deep Forest - European Clubman 600
Thought this would be harder with Gallo lurking in that Alfa, but the Vantage is a fantastic car to drive and handles the track great - I need to use it more.
1000091456.webp

Kyoto - Hypercar Parade
I genuinely forgot this was even an update car. Easy event as most of this series are but I don't like the way this one drives with the throttle cutting out on brake.

Great idea, definitely ! So here's a first entry from me.

Since I learned to appreciate the 911 Turbo S recently it had to be the Porsche Cup event at Laguna Seca.

Nice start, thanks both.

I'm impressed that the Delta went early! I don't remember that race, but the Impreza's race (at Eiger) is known as a super tough one so I'd kind of put the Delta in the same bucket.

This is a great idea for a challenge. Nice one, OP!

I had a spare 30 minutes today so I thought I'd dip in.

My (distinctly mediocre) talent may or may not have been a factor, but my two attempts were very much a damp squib. I'd like to gambit that the Kangoo at Brands Hatch, and the 1958 Chevy at Road Atlanta don't have the beans to keep up with the principal antagonist in their respective races.

Also it's worth noting that neither the RUF nor the Gallardo are within the 600pp required for their event.

Kangoo's definitely going to be a tricky one. I think it's theoretically possible if you roll the right grid, if it's front-loaded with Kei cars or stuff like the old Mini and the Kangoo then they might hold up the rest of the field enough to let you have the win.
I had a few goes at it and got 2nd out of it, but you also need to not roll one of the absurd opponents like the Atenza that will blitz it completely. I haven't had it all fall into favour yet.

For completion sake; Laguna Seca - Japanese Clubman 550
Think I got lucky with this one because Kokubun was completely unable to get past the other Evo.
1773588139479.webp

Good call, I've made this clear for these (and the Xiaomi) in the OP.
Might also be worth putting the time the current event champion has set into the table, makes things a whole lot more convenient to check.

What if ... we can not win within a reasonable amount of time / effort ? Best time or best position ? Or no entry at all ?
Just asking because I for one, I hate waiting for that bit of grid luck that lets you win.

The idea, at least in my head, would just be to move on, maybe mention that you think it's not possible but don't stress too hard about the time/position.

The core concept here is more so we can see which are possible by giving as many of them as possible a go, not so much to all grind the same one or two races to get the time as fast as possible.

Two Four more from the road ...

An easy race, an easy win - if you know how to tackle Eiger Nordwand.

EDIT

Sidenote 1 :

There's two events I could not beat. The European Clubman Cup 600 at Blue Moon Bay Speedway and the WTC 600 at Interlagos.
Funnily two races with powerful but extremely heavy cars, the Urus and the Ioniq 5. After many attempts with 2 - 3 seconds missing against Haywood Gallo etc I gave up. I think, a better driver than me will be able to win though.

Sidenote 2 :

Failed miserably with the MC20 running the Hypercar Parade at Dragon Trail. Came in 14th, 20 sec behind the winner - couldn't close the gap in any way. Not sure whether a win with the stock car is possible here since almost everyone else is on grippier tires.

Full disclosure that this last one was quite hard, and was done on Normal Difficulty, unlike all of the others which were on Hard. I seriously don't think this race is possible on Hard, with a stock Captur. It was fun though!

Sorry for the terrible quality and for the honking. I'm on PS4, and I was vibing to my music.

The way I'm ruling on this is - you're in the table for it and it counts for you, but if someone beats it on Hard they get to take it. I don't think they will though, that race is really difficult!

I've also split the counts out to mention one wasn't done on Hard, since seeing how possible this all is is part of the point of the thread.

@Nakano219 Great that you keep the list up to date and try to care for consistency.

I've added two more races editing my post #11 ...

Ah, and you've confused driver names.

EDIT

Sidenote 3 :

Tried the Impreza Rally Car '98 in the World Rally Challenge Gr.B event at Eiger Nordwand.
@Nakano219 assumed already it could be difficult - tbh things felt completely hopeless. Lost time each and every lap and came in dead last, roughly 45 sec behind. If my race was at a somewhat standard AI pace I don't think the stock car will ever win.

There's been two races among the Weekly Challenges that I want to add here ... and a bit more.

EDIT

Sidenote 4 :

As a big fan of Mt. Panorama I tried the Corvette C8 '20 in the American Clubman Cup 700 event. I should have known it ! Serrano territory ! Even unchallenged he was running 2.13 - 2.15 laps while I could barely break into the 2.19 with the stock car. So as long as J. Serrano is healthy and takes part in this race he will win.

I will have a little hiatus next week being in hospital but I hope to be back with you soon !

I like people feeding back on how they feel about how the cars drive, that's a side benefit I wasn't expecting from this.

Hopefully it'll inspire a reader or two to try out a car they might otherwise have dismissed out of hand.

The WTC700 at Mount Panorama is winnable in the stock Mazda3 Gr.4.

The challenging / frustrating / dumb aspects
  • Race Length (7 laps)
  • Distance from the leaders (~20 seconds)
  • Rabbit C7 Corvette is on Racing Softs and running a flat out 1-stop strategy
  • Rabbit C7 Corvette starts near the front :indiff:
  • Rabbit C7 has a higher top speed than the Mazda3...
  • AI backmarkers up to 4th place are VERY slow and block a lot :grumpy:

Strategy
  • 1 Stop,
  • Fuel Map 1, using all the revs,
  • Showroom stock Racing Hard tires.
  • Pit in at the end of Lap 4 for tires and fuel

I had my elbows out the whole time. The race was won and lost in the downhill braking zone around the Esses and the Dipper. You have to be super aggressive and run at the outside edge or even over the edge coming in the Esses.

Best lap I could manage was high a 2:14. In the race that I won, my fastest lap was a mid 2:15. Blazsan in the Swift woke up fighting and slowed the Rabbit C7 down enough for me to catch up. I think would not have won otherwise. In the race before this, the Rabbit C7 post a total time 5 seconds quicker. That is at the bleeding edge of what I do right now.

EDIT

Sidenote 5 :

I found two more races that seem nigh impossible to win as your car is too slow simply so you lose time every lap instead of gain some. The first event is the Vision Gran Turismo Trophy at Tokyo Expressway using the Bvlgari Aluminium VGT, the second is the Race of Turbo Sportscars at Mount Panorama with the Escort RS Cosworth. This car is ridiculously slow, my IRL everyday Yaris is faster.

Here are a couple more done.

Eiger Nordwand - World Rally Challenge Gr.B with Subaru Impreza Rally Car '98

I was only able to win on Normal difficulty, since you can lap slightly faster than the AI (over half a second per lap). It's still quite hard, because you need to be in front of the Gr.B Audi after it pits, and then maintain the lead. You can't do a pitstop, you won't win by stopping for fuel/tires, which means you will have to endure terrible tires at the end of the race (the AI somehow doesn't have to deal with this, even without swapping tires....), and have to do a lot of fuel saving.

This one is impossible on Hard, I'm fairly certain. You can be faster than the other Gr.Bs in the first two sectors, but the Subaru's lack of power and acceleration means you lose two seconds in the final sector alone. The AI does mid 1:05s which is impossible to beat with the Impreza, and you simply lose too much time by fuel saving that you won't be in front of the Audi after it pits. The best finish I had on Hard was 9th place, over 25 seconds away from 1st.

The only reason the Audi is nearly 6 seconds back in the picture is because it somehow ran out of fuel, after all the blocking I had to do on the final lap.

Autódromo de Interlagos - World Touring Car 600 with Hyundai Ioniq 5 N '24

This one was much easier, and was done on Hard difficulty. It really just depends on the starting grid, and where the 3/4 OP cars start (Haywood's Huracán, Yamanaka's Supra, Suswillo's GT-R, and to some extent Busnelli's Gallardo). You do need to drive fast and use the overtake, but it's still very much doable.

First of all congrats for the win.

The IONIQ has an overtake function ? Completely missed that. :banghead:

My races all were 8.51 - 8.53 and I never could attack the OP car a couple meters in front of me running 8.47 - 8.48 constantly.

Thanks! Yeah, the car has an overtake function, which is barely noticeable, but it does help with acceleration. From a post I did a long time ago:
Overtake off:
0-100 km/h in 4.662s
0-200 km/h in 13.259s

Overtake on:
0-100 km/h in 4.398s
0-200 km/h in 12.321s
I was fortunate that on my second attempt the only OP cars in the top 5 of the starting grid were the Gallardo and the Supra (and the former is not that fast). That is the hardest part of the race, besides navigating through the slow traffic and dealing with the Ioniq's oversteer under braking.

Also, maybe it's placebo but the AI seems to get progressively faster. Yamanaka was much faster on the final 2 laps, compared to the 2nd lap (all in clean air). I don't remember another race in GT7 where it was this noticeable.

Well, another race down.

Brands Hatch - Sunday Cup with Renault Kangoo 1.4 '01

After many attempts, I was finally able to do it on Hard difficulty. On this race you are entirely dependent on two things:
  • Which "fast cars" are in the race, and in which position they start;
  • How well can the slower cars block the "fast cars".

I was only able to win because the "fast cars" on the grid (Jimny Sierra, Aqua and the Demio) weren't that fast*, started quite far back, and got slowed down a lot by the race's best moving roadblock, named "Honda Beat".

Gran Turismo™ 7_20260324173958.webp

*For context, this race can have cars like the Atenza, Roadster NA, Trueno, Civic EF, 205 GTI.... all of which are faster than the "fast cars" I got, and easily a second faster than the stock Kangoo.

I tried eight events today and that's been a strangely mixed bag all in all. And a good chunk of frustration too tbh.
In first let me sum it up a bit.

  • I had three legit wins.
  • I had one win where I had to bend the rules a bit.
  • I had three races that seemed impossible to win with the stock car.
  • I had one race where I just couldn't reach the top AI. A better driver / more patient person possibly can do it.

Ok, here's the legit wins :

You need to accept this thing is Superfast ... but not a racecar. Don't overdrive it and have an easy win.
Deep Forest Raceway - Ferrari Circuit Challenge
Gran Turismo™ 7_20260329120738.webp

One more easy win. There's only one serious rival car which is the other Berlinetta.
Tokyo Expressway South - Vision Gran Turismo Trophy
Gran Turismo™ 7_20260329124027.webp

This is one of the harder challenges that took me many many attempts, trying different grids too.
Fuji International Speedway - Race of Turbo Sportscars
Gran Turismo™ 7_20260329152001.webp

I'll just leave the next one here as is. However, to keep the rules consistent the event should be excluded from the list ( strikethrough ) as you can not enter with the stock car. Limit is 850 PP, the Skoda VGT comes with 851,04 PP. Adding 11 kg made the car eligible.

Gran Turismo™ 7_20260329101439.webp

On top, two cars and their respective races have been confused : The Genesis VGT runs at Tokyo Expressway South ( see above ) while the Bvlgari VGT runs at Autodrome Nazionale Monza ( where it still will not be competitive ) ...

Sidenote 6 :

Three more races where the stock car is too slow imo to snatch a win :

Kyoto Driving Park Yamagiwa / European Sunday Cup 400 / Volvo 240 SE Estate '93
Suzuka Circuit / European Clubman Cup 600 / Audi TTS Coupe '09
Tsukuba Circuit / Sunday Cup Classic / Renault R4 GTL '85

One more ( quite boring ) race where I've been too slow and left after fifteen attempts :

Circuit de St. Croix / European Sunday Cup 400 / Renault Avantime 3.0 V6 24V '02

And there's another comment I'd like to leave here. It's a bit sad isn't it that there's so few community members contributing here. I still think it's a cool idea and I had hoped for more input variety. ... C'mon guys and gals !

I wanted to, but don't have much time to play atm and this is too much trial and error.
Did Nordschleife with the Xiaomi on f.....g comfort tires, but just on normal. Only then I figured out you guys doing all of this on hard mode. It may be possible to do, but it would probably take several tries, and driving this car with comforts really isn't much fun.
Then I saw Goodwood and the Merak, a car I really like. Unfortunately it's a 580PP race and the Merak is a 420PP car. Yes, I tried, but there's no chance. I guess we can add this one to the not possible list.
Last one I tried was the R32 Nismo at Blue Moon Bay.....but the constant "Ding Ding Ding" drove me crazy🤪
So I gave up, sorry😕
