The difference between magnetic object and a electrically charged object?

Could someone please explain the difference? Are they some how related to each other?

Yes. One is magnetic while the other is electrically charged.

Seriously, though. By "electrically charged" do you mean like... an electromagnet? Probably not. I'm not smart - at all.
 
What I think:

A magnetic object is something that that has postively charged electrons which are attracted to something elses negatively charged electrons.

And electrically charged object is something that has had its electrons charged either positively or negatively.

I could be wrong, infact,I probably am.
 
Electrically charged objects generate a magnetic field. However, ferrous metals can sustain a magnetic field without an electric charge.

Therefore I would guess that the difference is that if it is emitting a magnetic field without electric charge being applied, then it's magnetically charged, otherwise electrically charged.
 
An electric charge is monopolar, meaning it only contains one charge (i.e. positive, negative, and neutral). This usually occurs by loss or gain of electrons. Atoms with a charge are called Ions (interesting fact, seeing as how we use that term so loosely without having a clue as to what it means.) However, a magnetic charge is when the object has a bipolar field. This happens when the electrons in the atoms (which are paired off with each other) become aligned, with their positive side facing one way and their negative side facing the other.This gives you a stronger-than-normal field of energy around the object (the magnetic field, creatively anough :rolleyes: ). Now, an elecrtomagnet is created by a coil of wires with an electric charge running through them. Now, an electric charge is really a light-speed chain reaction of electrons bouncing off each other moving in a circle. Now, because they're all moving the same way at any given point, they must be aligned. hence, a magnetic field. Magnetism and static charge are similar in that they both involve a transfer of an electron. :D
