The funny thing is...This movie, people call it "horrible" "worste movie ever"

but ~5 years after it's release, it still brings up so many emotions just by mentioning the name..

I'm sorry, good movie or not..

That's amazing for a simple teen film to do....

That's so true. I think it's just gtplanet thing though, because people here are so an*l about cars. People I know(IRL) don't mind the movie at all. Most people don't take it too seriously and enjoys the movie for what it is. Movie that many people accused F&F of ripping off of, "Point Break" had gotten similar reviews as well. No acting, poor plot, etc. Another movie that is good for what it is, and I do own it on DVD.

yeah...I own both aswell..

I didn't buy them of course..
they were a gift from my young cousin because he knows how much i like cars...

And I watched them pretty much then and there..

i still watch it occasionally....It's a fun movie to watch (2f2f > fnf)..
it's not supposed to be a documentary on street racing..

so if you watch it expecting to see a movie..you'll probably get more out of it...

PS..

When does unleashed come out on DVD? (Jet li's best fight scenes are in that movie)

The not so interesting background

GREAT NEWS!!

EverythingDrift.com is working closely with the casting director of Fast and Furious 3 (which we all know will be about drifting). They are looking to film a very large drift scene in November in the week after SEMA, and have started the process to find "extra" cars. Remember the street racing and racewars scenes in the first movies? All of those cars were cast in a similar way. ALL CARS USED IN THESE SCENES WILL BE PAID A SMALL APPEARANCE FEE FOR THEIR APPEARANCE.

This weekend, there will be a large casting call in the Los Angeles area. Basically, a bunch of cars (including yours) will show up, have its picture taken, some information taken down, and the planning will begin for the scene in November.

If you are interested in this, at any level, SHOW UP WITH YOUR CAR!!

Cars they are interested in:
240's
350's
AE86's
Supras (mk3 and mkIV)
RX7's
RX8's
IS300's
Skylines
G35's
other RWD driftable cars??

In addition, they are also looking for:
WRX's
Lancer Evo's
xB's

Top dollar will be paid for:
- RHD cars
- Those who are able to drift their cars as background footage
- "vanning" vehicles (those crazy vans setup for kareoke with pikachu-type spoilers and large bumpers. we've all seen pics on the internet, yes those things are real!)

If you have any of these cars, or have friends with any of these cars, BRING IT ON SUNDAY!! If you have a car which is not able to make it sunday, you can do one (or both) of two options...
1 - bring pictures and a description of your car to the event.
2 - email georgeg@everythingdrift.com and CC fastandfurious3cars@hotmail.com with 2 pictures of your car, a description of the mods, your name, a contact phone number, and the reason you can't make it there but WILL make it to the shoot in November (IE: out of town, car is in the shop, etc).

We ask that if anyone should ask how you heard about this, we would prefer if you mentioned our name. EVERYTHINGDRIFT IS NOT ASKING FOR ANY SORT OF 'FEE' TO BE CAST IN THIS MOVIE!. We want real drift cars in the scene, and we are in it for the love of drifting. Other companies / agencies WILL ask for a fee out of your pocket in order to cast you. There is no preference given by Universal to one casting group over another. In theory, they would rather use real drift cars rather than "Show" or "display" cars, so mentioning EverythingDrift.com may benefit you. But if you do not want to, that is fine as well.

PLEASE feel free to pass this information on to others (Friends, myspace buddies / bulletins, other message boards, etc). The emphasis is being placed on RWD cars, but some select JDM-styled cars may be cast.

PLEASE also leave the haterade / beef / etc at home. This will be a professional environment, with the opportunity for many of these cars to be cast in a major motion picture. This will be a fun, relaxing car meet, we don't need any problems.

Have fun, pass the word on, and we hope to see you there!

PS - any questions can be posted either here, or emailed to georgeg@everythingdrift.com or fastandfurious3cars@hotmail.com

Bow Wow Races to 'Fast and Furious 3'
Thu, Sep 22, 2005, 10:09 AM PT
By Hanh Nguyen

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Bow Wow, who skates into theaters on Friday (Sept. 23) with "Roll Bounce," is trading up for a larger set of wheels.
The 18-year-old rapping actor will fulfill his need for speed with "The Fast and the Furious 3," the latest installment of the popular street-racing film franchise.

"Me and Lucas Black are actually starring in that movie," says Bow Wow. "'Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo.' It's gonna be hot and different. My first action movie, so it's gonna be great."

Directed by Justin Lin ("Better Luck Tomorrow"), the story revolves around a not-so-ugly American who flees to Tokyo to avoid prison for his illegal racing ways. He discovers the next level in rubber-burning adrenalin rushes: drift racing. The underground motor sport challenges drivers to accelerate through hairpin turns and then spin out of them, making for hair-raising races through city streets.

"It starts filming in the first week of October," says the rapper. "After [promoting 'Roll Bounce'] I go to Europe for a week and then I'm back over here for three and a half months. Then we're over in Tokyo and Japan for three and half weeks."

Although his movie career is advancing swiftly, Bow Wow isn't turning his back on his hip-hop roots. The teen has four albums to his onomatopoeic name, with the latest, "Wanted," released in July. He would also like to add to his soundtrack resume, which includes songs for "Wild Wild West" and "Big Momma's House."

"Definitely," he says. "I got to get on the 'Fast and the Furious' soundtrack."

I hope we get to see Bow Wows impression of Ja Rule !?!

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

You know, thinking about all this drifting going on in the movie...

I think the prices of RX-7s is going to shoot up in the USED car buying. 👍

FNF was an alright movie, 2F2F was a bit wank really. i watch for fun rather than seriousness. i still wonder what the blue car is in the 'nobody likes the tuna' scene in FNF

Didn't this happen with the Supras and the first Fast and the Furious?

Yea I believe so. Even the people at Supraforums say this also. I think back then, the prices of MKIV were around 20K-23ishK price range, but now you can see them ranging mostly around from 25K-45K(depending on miles and such). You could find some for under 20K also, but you are going to have to be kinda lucky to find one. :O

I predict an increase in the pricings of RX-7 when this movie is released, but not as high as Supras. Why do I think that? :odd:

Well, I read from forums to forums that the reason why RX-7s are not as valuable as Supras is because of their reliability and overheating issues. At about 50-60K worth of miles, these rotary engines start to fall apart as there much more moving parts than your inline and V shaped engine.

More moving parts = Generates more heat.
More moving parts = When parts get worn(which is normal), rotaries will have more parts to replace compared to other engines. So it might cost more.

In conclusion, RX-7s shouldn't be priced higher than Supras based on reliability. You can also look through forums like Supraforums and RX7 club forum about these cars. You will see alot more of people requesting for help with a maintenance issues of RX-7s compared to Supras.

Supras = Very strong block, bulletproof like manual transmission, can handle loads of punishment, RELIABLE. :O

That is why I always prefer Supras over RX-7s anyday! :O 👍

Sorry about the lecture, feel free to talk about it! :O *puts on flame suit*

Truth is Rx7 (rotary) have much less moving parts than the Supra (IL6).

Not including oil pump, water pump, distributor etc the Rotary (10a 12a 13b most common) has only 3 main moving parts, 2 rotors and a eccentric shaft (crankshaft). No valves, cams, lifters or any thing like that.

DAMN IT! I can so drift the Blazer. I bet they would have flipped if I showed up in a lowrider.

awww I am told the wrong information! :( Now I got to think really hard about how RX-7s have this overheating problem again. :guilty: Maybe its just the way they are? :odd:

I feel so bad about the post I made before on this thread....I am going to go lie down on my bed, sink my face in the pillow and cry...:(:(:(

But rotaries do have problems with staying together, the apex seal (I think that's right) goes bad. I'm trying to think of some past threads about them.

Lol dont worry about it :).

Go here if you want to learn more about Rotarys. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm

Yes a JZA80 Supra is more reliable than a Rx7.

OMG! Did VIPERGTSR01 make a girl cry? Oh, that jerk! :p

Actually, I read long time ago that rotary engine involves less parts than the regular engine. However, as Blazin mentioned, I think they do have their issues with those engines.

Not to mention you have to find someone to fix the damn things. I mean they aren't common so more then likely you aren't going to find skilled mechanics in that area.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

After all these years of learning from that site...I somehow never saw that page. :ouch: Thanks! :O 👍

No problems.

The rotary engine is great in theory but much harder in practice, Mazda has put alot of effort into making the rotary better and more reliable over the years while all other manufactuers gave up on it. Apex seals are the main problem with there reliability.

FnF 3? Are the writers going to scour our drift forums for material?

Poor drifting...It'll get washed out and/or seriously diluted soon.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

But it shouldn't be that much of a problem now since the RX-8 is out. There should be at least someone in each Mazda dealership that knows hot to fix rotaries right? :odd:

Do you think it was worth it in the first place for Mazda to build a rotary engine? :odd:

Sure, made Mazda unique/different (just like Honda is with there high revving normal aspirated engines and Subaru using flat/boxer engines) and they have there own fanbase following. Also showed us that the rotary can be made as a pretty good engine.
