Who else thinks he looks like he just woke up?

Maybe he's saying his name too quickly, but it sounded like "Hyme Alleswari" ... I do belive that's the first time I've encountered a silent G.

Apparently TR will not give Bourdais a chance to run the new aero package. Bad news confirmed.:grumpy:

So this would be the 3rd driver that Toro Rosso has screwed over in its short history? I think its ridiculous to pull the rug from under his feet before giving him the hardware 👎 He deserves better than that.

Here he is pronouncing his own name:

I think I'll just stick to Jamie Al-ger-saw-ri, thats how I would pronounce it anyway. Screw trying to pretend being Catalan.

Please, not "Jamie" ... it would be like for me to say "Luís" Hamilton

Just say it "JYME" and you'll be saying it right. Although in Spain they read the "J" as "RR" (can't figure why) so probably "RRYME" is the better way to say his first name.

His surname is easier, the "u" in the middle works like the "h" in english, meaning it's a silent vowel meant to make the "g" be pronounced as in the words "Ingham" or "weighed", so you should say it like this (will try to write it in "english"):

ALG-HERS-WAH-REE

So ... RRYME ALG-HERS-WAH-REE! :dopey:

No, no, NO! :P Jaume Alguesuari is pronounced like I posted before. However, Jaume is the catalan, uhm... Version of James. But he's using the spanish one, Jaime, so it's like:

HAI-me al-ger-SUA-ri (using the phonetics I used before):

As for the unheard g, well, we speak that fast. It is pronounced, but barely heard. I guess it takes some time to get used to our fast speaking, just like most spaniards have a bad time getting used to the myriad of English phonetic vowels (We only have 5, and they're pronounced the same way in 99.9% of cases).

(J bein' pronounced like an RR? Are you nuts? :D)

J = H in spanish...

I.e. Jose, Badajoz

Unless like in Orange where it is like a K...

Naranja

C.

:D

Record yourself saying, loud and clearly, the words:

JUNTA

and

RUNTA

...

JAMÁS

and

RAMÁS

...

JUAN

and

RUAN

Then send me the recording :D
It's us (portuguese speakers) who pronounce the R as an H sometimes.

And in spanish J is like H.

Ha ha ha, ja ja ja, rá rá rá!

Just to clarify: the mix between H and R (in portuguese) only happens with the brasilian accent :)

darkfinal, did you try the recording? :D

I am very disappointed and shocked by the decision taken by Scuderia Toro Rosso of not allowing me to drive for the Team until the end of the current season.

I consider that, in doing so, Scuderia Toro Rosso has breached its contractual duties towards me; also I believe that nothing in my behavior would legitimate a decision of the Team to terminate the contract.

I think that the Team's decision is in clear violation of Scuderia Toro Rosso's obligations under the agreement. I have instructed my lawyers to review the situation including the possibility of issuing legal proceedings.

I am even more frustrated by the Team's decision considering that the latter has been taken immediately before the Hungarian Grand Prix, where a new highly competitive racing package will be introduced by the Team in order to try and overcome its current difficulties.

I am convinced that if I was given the chance to race with such a new package I would have had the opportunity to achieve satisfactory results.

Finally, I would like to thank all my fans for their support. My motivation is intact and I will continue to be strongly committed to my Formula One project, for which I have renounced to my career in United States

This has increased my respect for him.

Well I see both sides of the argument, teams have a right to sack drivers if they fail to perform (and sometimes include a performance clause in the driver's contract) but then again Sebastien does deserve another chance since he has such pedigree in single seaters in the US. As said previously his willingness to fight has increased my respect for him

Even if he does win the legal stuff, he'll be driving for the rest of the season with a team that don't want him there.

Please merge this with the fired thread, it's on the same person.

That's not neccesarily true. Management may not want him there but I can't imagine the engineers are happy to see drivers change mid-season.

I think Bourdais deserves at least the chance to try with the updated STR, then if he stinks its fair game.
Not sure whether other teams will be inclined to hire him, we will have to see what happens, all we do know is that Seb is definitely not driving a Toro Rosso next year.

Also, this is not giving Toro Rosso a good image, they are gaining a reputation for kicking drivers out mid-season and being fairly harsh about it. With more teams in the sport, the good drivers will be less inclined to join their team for this reason. Which is ironic considering Giancarlo Minardi was so good at picking out young talent and usually kept his drivers for a full season at least and then let them move on for bigger teams or kick them out.

Even if Bourdais gets to finish his season with STR, I say it's best for him to return to America. With all respect, the guy flies in Champcars (or Indycars now I suppose?), and he's brilliant with sportscar racing. But as far as his F1 campaign goes, he sucks. Not even once did he impress me, and the fact that he's being outscored (outrun?) by a rookie doesn't make the situation better. But STR is in no position to sack him at this moment.

Seabass, do yourself a favour and go back to America, you'll enjoy your stay there much better 👍

And there's no way he'd land a drive for next season. No team is going to want someone who underperforms and is consistently out-qualified and out-raced by his team-mate only to have said somenoe throw the proverbial legalese book at them when they release him from his contract.

Well there are more teams next year, so I think he still has a chance to get a seat. He may not want to be sitting like Sato is right now for the rest of the year.

I'd give him a decent shot of landing a ride with USF1, given that he's already a known quantity in the states, and may fill the role of "senior driver" that USF1 would need.

Maybe, but I doubt he'd be their first candidate. Or their second.

It was obvious before the start of the season that STR was very pleased to be bringing Buemi along, but Bourdais was confirmed just a short time (weeks?) before the first race and I've had the sense that he has been the odd man out there all year. His comments about the car and his performance this season have made him seem rather weak-minded and his effort over the last few races has been less than impressive, like he is just waiting for the updates to the chassis and not really giving his best with the current setup. It could be said he has been unlucky in several races over the past couple years, but a good driver should shine at least a handful of times over a season, even in bad equipment. It just hasn't happened for Bourdais.

That being said, STR dumping him before he even has an attempt at the updated equipment is a shame-this coupled with the way they handled Speed and Liuzzi makes me wonder about the team mentality and the politics within. The team does not directly criticize the drivers, but public support for them has been nil once the whispers begin, almost to the point of using public perception and rumour as a means to force unwanted drivers out.

The new update parts are going to be a big stepup surely. The Renault powered cars are proving the parts are good. Seb has shown , if the car is not to his liking he struggles to drive the car past the inability. He has been unlucky in some races and has not had a great deal of race time (alot of DNF's).

As for legal action, well it does show he wants to acheive a good result for his team, but also shows he can cause disruptions if pushed, and at the end of the day he is showing us all that he has the passion that is required to be in a team that is essentially a feeder for F1 teams.

It depends on what those parts are. I know they're getting a diffuser, but that might be all they're getting; then again, I've heard that they're getting Red Bull's Silverstone upgrade. But as Red Bull themselves have proven, the diffuser isn't the magic bullet everyone thought it would be.
